Soy Candle Making

by Charlie Reese

Choosing the Scented Oils for Your Soy Candle Making

Using scented oils for soy candle making is a fun, easy way to transform any ordinary soy candle you are making into an aromatherapy candle. Aromatherapy is an alternative medicine that is gaining respect as its results become more and more apparent.

Aromatherapy uses scented oils to promote healing and prevent disease, which when you think about it is not surprising, because many medicines and other healing substances have their origins in herbs. Using scented oil for soy candle making makes it easy to incorporate these healing essences into your everyday environment.

Scented soy candles aren’t just for aromatherapy. They also make great air fresheners for living rooms, bathrooms, or any other room where you need to mask odors.

Essential Oils vs. Fragrance Oils

Deciding what scented oils to use for soy candle making is purely a matter of preference. You may choose to use two kinds of scented oils: essential oils or fragrance oils. Essential oils are derived from natural substances like flowers, herbs, leaves, roots, and barks. Rose, lavender, pine, and cinnamon are examples of essential oils.

The second kind of scented oil for you to use in making soy candles is fragrance oil. Fragrance oil is derived from synthetics. The essential oils of some natural plants, like bananas, cedar, and coffee, don’t lend themselves to candle making. These oils have a short shelf life, or their scents are overpowered during the candle making process. Fragrance oils were developed to mimic these natural scents with synthetic substances.

Unless it is extremely important to you to use essential scented oils for soy candle making, you will want to use essential oils and fragrance oils, and blend the two to get the fragrance you want. The best use of fragrance follows the seasons; when making candles for springtime, use pastel colors scented with fragrance oils like forest rain, freesia, and fresh-cut grass. Use cucumber, ocean; and orange blossom scented fragrance oils for summer candles. Coriander and cinnamon essential oils make fabulous fall candles, while pine, peppermint, and coffee are fun fragrances for winter candles.

Adding the Scented Oils to Your Candles

Any fragrance should only be added to wax that has been removed from heat. Remove the boiling water pan from beneath your wax melting pot and make sure no heat is rising from beneath the melting pot. Slowly add the scented oils you desire for your soy candle making process and continue making your soy candles as usual.

All about the ashtray

by June Beezy

If you are Cuban cigar smoker, or smoker in general, most likely you are aware of what an ashtray is. An ashtray as it may sound is something you place the ashes in “real time” as it’s produced through the end of your respective smoke. Ashes are basically the burned leftovers that can’t be smoked anymore. These ashes come in many shades of Grey and white or a mixture of these two colors.

So how are ashes created? Ashes are basically the residue that is left after a tobacco leaf is lit on fire and smoked. It is a natural discharge from the tobacco leaf. We in general don’t like consuming anyone’s discharge, same idea here. Ashes contain some harmful chemicals and literally taste disgusting. Don’t ask me how I found out, let’s just say when I did, it wasn’t a very pleasant experience. So keeping an ashtray on the side where smoking is highly recommended.

To ash out your cigarettes, or Cuban cigars, people require an ashtray. An ashtray is a ‘receiver’ of ashes produced by your smoke and when you are done smoking, the ashtray is cleaned out. It serves as an holder for ashes and prevents you from ‘ashing out’ on a carpet or some other place which may be of value.

Kindly note that ashes from a cigarette or cigar can be very deadly for the visual health of your current flooring and can produce a very ‘unhealthy’ smell.

Today ashtrays are produced in many different styles, shapes and colors. They also vary in price range from as low as five bucks to almost thousands of dollars. The in the thousands are obviously collector’s items, but you get the idea. Most ashtray are now made with three main types of material. Steel, glass or heat proof plastic. In most cases, a combination of these material is used too.

The Nintendo Wii System

by Charlie Reese

How To Get The Most Out Of Your Nintendo Wii System

The Nintendo Wii system continues to be much sought after and even a year after it was launched, it is still enjoying great popularity in spite of the fact that it took a totally different route as compared to major competitors Xbox and even the PlayStation 3. Obviously, anyone that has used a Nintendo Wii system will soon come to realize that the motion sensor technology being used in the Wii is truly revolutionary and it makes things such as playing a game of tennis that much more enjoyable as compared to twiddling the joy stick or pressing buttons which is common in many other gaming devices.

Reasonably Priced

A basic Nintendo Wii system comprises the console as well as controller and it also comes with Wii Sports as well as cables and for just two hundred and fifty dollars, it is a virtual steal as compared to the exorbitantly priced Xbox and PlayStation 3. The only problem is that because it enjoys so much popularity, it is hard to find a Nintendo Wii system being sold at retail prices.

Another aspect to using the basic Nintendo Wii system is that though the basic package is sufficient to get started with gaming, it will still require investing some more money if you want to truly experience the best out of your console. So, you may need to buy an additional controller, especially for games played by two people and this in turn will mean paying an extra forty dollars. Other things that you will need to add to your Nintendo Wii system include a pair of Nanchuk controllers that will help enhance some of the more exciting Nintendo Wii games available out there on the market.

You may also need to buy a battery recharger and of course, there are plenty of other games that you may want to buy as well. In addition, you can get even more out of your Nintendo Wii system if you also go out and buy additional accessories and in fact, you will find different types of Nintendo Wii packages being sold which are aimed at the more dedicated players. Some packages even come complete with twenty games as well as a few accessories, though it also will mean spending as much as another thousand dollars to get these goodies for your Nintendo Wii system.

Thus, if you want some way of ensuring that you get the most pleasure out of your new Nintendo Wii system, you should be sure about how you are going to use it and then also buy according to your own gaming habits, and if need be, even test out the Wii before putting your money down on any one single package.

A Brief Guide To Tech Gadgets

by Chris Channing

Technology is something that has sparked an interest in any man, woman, and child wanting to take advantage of the benefits new technology brings. But getting such technology is not only hard- but expensive as well. Luckily there are a few things one can do to get a hold of such technology, and at a price that won’t hurt the bank.

It’s hard to discredit the fact that ever since the digital camera became a consumer product, it has been hard to choose a better gadget gift for birthdays, graduation presents, and Christmas presents. But digital cameras are being reinvented everyday, such as the case with the mini spy cameras that are now circulating throughout the Internet. It may be hard to find in stores, but mini digital cameras can usually be found in stock with online retailers.

Teenagers are always listening to some form of music- especially since MP3 gadgets such as the iPod and Microsoft Zune have become so popular like they have. MP3 gadgets can now come with much more functionality than what was previously thought- such as the ability to play video or even play games.

Other types of tech gadgets can be found in the local RadioShack store. RadioShack has long been seen as the “Hobby Lobby” for technical geniuses. Everything from remote controlled tech gadgets that fly, float, and speed along to the many mobile phones and car electronics can be found here.

Gaming gadgets are popular among younger teens, but have been proven to be just as entertaining to adults as well. The Nintendo Wii, for example, has even lured in the elderly in finding entertaining ways to spend a rainy afternoon. Other gaming gadgets such as the mobile PSP or the Nintendo DS give consumers “gaming on the go” wherever they’d like- so long as they have a battery handy.

Certainly not last we have the remote control. In the older days, remotes were simply devices that used frequencies to signal a television to turn on. But now the remote control is being used for controlling all sorts of gadgets- such as home lighting, home security, televisions, game consoles, and much more. Best yet, all of these can be controlled from the same universal remote!

Closing Comments

In the end, gadgets can be tough to find since not many of them are made initially. If you can’t wait for the second lines of production, try consulting the Internet auctions and retailers that are said to have skill in stocking such gadgets pertaining to your interests.

PSP Systems are New

by Charlie Reese

Setting Up Your PSP’s Internet in No Time

One of the main selling points of Sony’s blockbuster handheld gaming console, the PlayStation Portable or PSP, is the ability to access various wireless networks, be they from routers or other PSPs for multiplayer. However, you can also use that wireless connection to access the Internet via the PSP’s built in web browser, so your PSP quickly becomes not just a great gaming platform, but also an entire multimedia platform. To make this entire process fun and easy, you can read this guide to learn about setting up your PSP for Internet usage.

In Three Easy Steps

Firstly, you’ll want to enable your PSP for setting up Internet. It needs to be able to detect any available networks, so you’ll need to enable the wireless adapter by the switch on the left hand side of your PSP. If it’s turned off (pressed down), your PSP won’t be able to detect wireless networks. Push it up so that you can get an active connection going. When you do the first step for setting up PSP Internet, your PSP will automatically set up a connection with any neighboring PSPs, but you’ll need to manually set up a connection if you wish to access the Internet.

Next for setting up PSP Internet, go to the main screen of your PSP and enter the Settings menu, scrolling the whole way down to the Network Settings at the bottom. Select ?infrastructure? network and return to the previous menu to actually set the network up. Choose New Connection, and give it a unique name (because you can save up to 10 different connections). You can choose between a manual input of the network settings or an automatic scan, so you can go ahead and do the automatic scan.

Lastly, just choose the correct network you wish to connect to, and you’re done setting up your PSP’s Internet. The first thing you probably want to do (especially if you’ve never connected to the Internet with your PSP previously) is go update your PSP’s firmware with the latest patches and performance enhancements. If you’ve done that, then go ahead and connect to the Internet with your PSP’s web browser, or play a multiplayer game. These three steps only take a few minutes to do, and then you get to enjoy your PSP the way it’s meant to be experienced ? as a complete multimedia platform. By setting up your PSP’s Internet, you can access the web, check your e-mail, and play multiplayer games.

Organic Beer Made at Home

by Charlie Reese

Going Organic When Making Beer At Home

Organic foods are extremely popular, especially as a result of the recent health craze. Many people feel that organic foods are much healthier for you than regular foods, because they eliminate the possibility of accidentally consuming pesticides and chemicals which can be harmful to the body. Farmers have managed to grow organic produce, and in grocery stores you will find organic bread, meat, and rice. Another organic product that is growing in popularity is organic beer and wine. You can buy organic beer from the store, or you can make organic beer at home. Whatever you choose, your result will be one that is healthier than the original!

A Similar Process

The processes involved in making organic beer at home are similar to making other beers at home. The first step is to boil the water, hops, and malt for a fairly long period of time. Then the mixture, which is called wort, is poured into a fermenter and given time to cool. Next, the yeast is added to the mixture, and the fermenter is sealed so that it is air tight. The yeast consumes all sugar contained in the mixture, and after about 10 days the yeast will fall to the bottom of the fermenter. Lastly, the beer is bottled and allowed to sit for a few weeks so that it becomes mature.

Ingredients Are Important

If the process for making organic beer at home is the same as making any other type of beer, then you might be wondering where the differences come in. It’s all in the ingredients! In order for a beer to be considered organic, it must be made with ingredients that meet with the standards set by the USDA. Right now, these standards state that in order to be considered organic, only 5% of a beer’s ingredients can be non-organic, and they must fall on a list of approved non-organic ingredients. Usually, this means that the ingredients needed for making organic beer at home will be more expensive than they would be if you were not making organic beer.

One of the main ingredients that must be organic when you are making organic beer at home is the grain. This ingredient makes up a majority of beer, so it is important that it is organic. However, other ingredients, like the hops, are very difficult to find organically grown. Most of the time, the organic version has to be imported from another country. Luckily for organic beer makers, hops is currently on the list of approved non-organic ingredients.

Drink To Your Health!

Despite the extra expense, making your own organic beer at home will be well worth your while. For a taste that is similar to the original and a health value you won’t find elsewhere, brew organic beer in your own home.

Shopping Guide For Karaoke Machines

by Christine D

The world of karaoke machines can be very complicated. Adding to the confusion is the fact that there are so many different types of karaoke machines. They do not all use the same type of equipment. Different machines have different features. Plus they don’t even use the same type of technology on their song disks! How do you make sense of it all?

Here to help you is Karaoke Machines 101: Everything You Need To Know! So let’s get started. The first thing to be clear on is what all those terms mean that you hear bandied about.

Karaoke System – The karaoke system is the karaoke player, the monitor, the speakers, and can include the library of karaoke songs played by the player.

Karaoke Machine – usually this term is used to mean the karaoke player, or the machine that plays the karaoke music. However, some karaoke systems are all-in-one units which include the player, the speakers, and the monitor all on one machine. In this case, the karaoke machine is the entire system.

Karaoke Player – the machine that physically plays the karaoke songs.

Karaoke Monitor – the screen where the lyrics to the songs show up. The all-in-one units include this screen on the machine. Other systems use your TV as the monitor and for the speakers, too.

So that also explains your 2 basic types of karaoke systems. You have the all-in-one units, and you have the karaoke machines that hook up to your TV, similar to a DVD player.

Now let’s look at the different types of karaoke song disks. The mainstream, and most popular, types of disks include DVDs, CDGs, CD+Gs, MP3s, and in-built songs. Most karaoke machines are built to accept one kind or the other, instead of all the different kinds.

DVDs – These are regular DVDs which include the music sound track and then the pictures on your screen are the lyrics. Most of the time you have the lyrics against a solid background. A lot of the newer ones, though, include moving, scenic backgrounds or videos.

CDGs, CD+Gs – Both of these terms mean the same thing. Basically, it is a CD for the sound track, but the CD is also embedded with the graphics, which are the lyrics to the songs. So the “G” simply stands for graphics.

MP3s – These are usually for your computer, MP3 player, or Ipod. You can find software which will strip the vocals from your MP3s so that you can then use the sound tracks for karaoke.

In-built – Some karaoke machines come with their own libraries of karaoke songs, so they are already built into the system.

Lastly, let’s look at the various features available on your karaoke machines. Karaoke machines have different features you can use to make the singer sound better and more professional. These features include being able to change the pitch of the song, the key, the tempo, the volume. Being able to add echo to your voice is pretty standard, but some machines also include different ways to adjust this feature also, such as setting different echo lengths. Some machines call the echo feature “reverb”.

All karaoke machines have an input for a microphone. But what if you want to sing duets? For this reason, many of the machines now include two microphone inputs. But only some of them have the capability to adjust each microphone separately for pitch and volume.

Another feature that you might like is a scoring system. With this feature you can have karaoke contests or see how your own routine improves with practice. The few machines that have this system usually score your performance on how well you control things like your pitch, tempo, volume, and tone.

There is one other feature that only some karaoke machines include, but it could be an important feature to you. These machines have the capability to let you play the songs with the vocals included to learn the songs, and then you can turn off the vocals to sing karaoke style.

So basically, all those different models, all those different features, and all those kinds of disks, boil down to just a few key concepts. Understanding these concepts will take you a long way towards understanding pretty much any model of karaoke machine. Now that you know them all, have some fun with your karaoke machines!

Sudoku and You

Sudoku Techniques Vary Greatly To Reach Same Conclusion

Solving Sudoku puzzles can be a challenge for just about everyone, but every player, regardless of their individual skill level will develop Sudoku techniques that help them solve the puzzles faster. While Sudoku is strictly numbers-based game, there is no math involved in solving the puzzle. Logic and concentration are the two biggest contributing factors involved in successful completion of a puzzle, but different people will use differed Sudoku techniques to come to the same conclusion.

Working one row and one column at a time may be one of the most popular of the Sudoku techniques, but can be somewhat slow in reaching a fitting end to the puzzle. Many players will treat each of the nine sub boxes contained in a puzzle, attempting to solve the smaller grids while maintaining vigil over the remain eight boxes as one of their Sudoku techniques to solve the larger puzzle. This technique however, often leads to many erasure marks, one of the main reasons puzzles are typically worked in pencil.

One of the most often used Sudoku techniques involves stopping when the player has reached an impasse. Many players relate how when they come to what seems to be a dead end they simply stop and do something else for awhile and then return to the puzzle with renewed vigor. Others have found that turning the puzzle 90-degrees helps them see the solution from a different angle.

Right Technique Is One That Works

Not everyone is able to become interested in solving Sudoku puzzles, many believing their limit math abilities will prevent them from achieving success. However, even though the game uses numbers, there is no math involved. The numbers placement game relies on logical thinking and the Sudoku techniques used by most players also help them develop their logical thinking skills.

Some of the most basic Sudoku techniques involves the theory that any puzzle can be solved if the player works one number at a time, one grid at a time, while constantly looking ahead to which number will fit into the grid next. When a player is developing their own Sudoku techniques they may repeat one already in use and then slowly develop their own method of completing the puzzle.

Just like the number of different methods puzzle makers use to develop Sudoku puzzles, Sudoku techniques will differ among those trying to solve them. One of the other more popular techniques used in solving puzzles is the use of certain beverages to help their thinking. While technically it may not improve their logical thinking skills, it is one of the Sudoku techniques that making losing easier to bear.
