The adage that you should focus on your first impression is the leading reason to learn to write well. Writing well means paying attention to not just the mechanics of English grammar and punctuation, but to the nuances and elegance of the language itself.

Writing skills are used to make first impressions throughout your life; everywhere from email to introductory letters to accompany your resume to business writing. You wouldn’t write the cover letter to your resume in text message style abbreviations (or at least I urge you not to).

Here are some proven tips and techniques to writing well and writing for clarity.

1) Have your audience in mind before you commit words to paper. What does your audience already know about the subject? You shouldn’t have to repeat the basics of how to turn on an oven for someone who’s an experienced cook, for example. On the other hand, writing a set of instructions for auto repair or how to diagnose a computer problem should start from the very basics and work their way up. 2) When you write, listen to the advice your high school composition teacher gave you. Work from a theme, know how the piece will end, and write from beginning to end before worrying about rewriting. Start from the most important topic and work to your conclusion. 3) When you do a rewrite, don’t be afraid to throw the first few hundred words out. It is a very common tendency among beginning writers to use the first four hundred to a thousand words of text on anything as the authorial equivalent of clearing your throat.

Habits to avoid:

After you have finished and rewritten your piece, then do a find and replace for *ly.* is the wild card character telling your word processor to find and replace and word ending in “ly”. You can replace this with a word you would not be using in your piece; turnip, for instance. If your sentences work without this adjectival form, then leave the word out entirely. Otherwise, find a better adjective.

When possible, always write in the active voice. Remember, show; don’t tell. For example: “Brooke ran from her pursuers as fast as she could, her heart racing, as her mind sought any means to evade capture.” This is the active voice. And: “Running, Brooke’s heart raced as she attempted to evade her pursuers.” That would be the passive voice - active definitely reads better and is more likely to attract and retain the attention of your reader.

After all of your rewriting, read your piece to yourself out loud. There is no better way to identify an awkward sentence than this. With enough practice at this technique, you will be able to hear the piece in your head as you write - this technique will bring about a vast improvement in your writing.

Writing well is a skill that’s seldom taught any more. The advice given above used to be drilled into writer’s heads when they were in junior high school - now they’re doled out in college level courses.

Let’s talk about One Night Stands.

It wasn’t until I had a couple solid pickups that I started to really understand how easy all this really could be.

Mesmerizing what I did before, I realize that it was the beginning of major “bad belief overhaul” to my success.

I began to believe that girls wanted to be with me and longs to spend a night in bed with me.

I also started to think of myself as an attractive, desirable guy (even though I’m far from what’s typically considered good-looking).

Now about 75% of my students came to me with one main goal - they want to sleep with more women.

While the others have a goal to find their someone special but I don’t think these goal are mutually exclusive.

A common phase that every good pickup artist goes through when they gets started is that they start to learn of the new ways of thinking and behavior and then start to meet and sleep with LOT OF WOMEN.

This period of learning is necessary, or at least it was for me in order to snap out of my old way of thinking, and internalize my new reality - that I am attractive and woman want to sleep with me.

In my mind, Tupac Shakur was the most amazing rapper of our times and even to this day, no can match him any almost any way. His lyrics, his style, his everything was something that fans and people who met him loved and adored. Tupac was true to himself and that is what got him so far. A young man with a passion for music that drove everyone mad because he never hid the truth.

Tupac came from the ghetto in the United States and didn’t know his father like most African Americans in that environment. However, he took that negativity and turned it into one of the most amazing careers any one could ever imagine. Tupac was making more money in the music business than anyone else and nothing could stop him. His music was breaking barriers all over the globe.

Since his first album came out, Tupac instantly became the center of attention. The industry was shocked because no one ever came close to his demeanor. His lyrics were all about what was going on back than and that is why it struck a chord with thousands of people especially black people especially the ones in the urban community.

Tupac than released several albums and the media labeled him a ‘Gangster’ rapper. He also ended up in jail for quiet some time until he was rescued by Suge Knight of Death row records and than went Multi-platinum again. His music was now all over and everybody especially white America embraced him like crazy. Tupac was on SNL and many other TV shows and became an household name.

Tupac will sure be missed as he was murdered at a very young age. However, he has accomplished more in his life than most of us ever will. Tupac’s story tells me that their is a time for everything and we must take advantage of the time we had by using our talents and putting them to work. If we don’t our time might just run out and we’ll be nothing but dust in the wind. Thanks for everything Tupac, you will be missed.

Karaoke mania is sweeping the world! Have you taken your trip up to the stage yet to belt out your favorite song to those you know and love? If not, you might just find yourself on the singing end of your nearest karaoke system very soon! So what is this karaoke, anyway? What’s the buzz about the newest karaoke player? What do you need to know to be “in the know” about this latest craze? Here are some facts, figures, karaoke lingo, and trivia you may want to know.

Karaoke is a Japanese word, made up of abbreviations of two other Japanese words. “Kara” comes from the word “karappo”, meaning empty. “Oke” comes from the word “okesutura”, meaning orchestra. So “Karaoke” literally means empty orchestra. Karaoke players play the music of the songs, without the lead vocals. So empty orchestra means you get the music without the voices.

The first karaoke system was invented in the 1970’s in Kobe, Japan, by Daisuk Inoue, a musician. He leased his karaoke player for 100 yen, and Karaoke soon became the fun thing to do. Unfortunately, he did not get a patent for his invention, and someone else went on to patent it under a different name, “Minus-One”. As you see, his Minus-One system didn’t catch on near as well as the catchy “Karaoke”, so Daisuk still got his claim to fame. Word of Daisuk’s new machine spread, and from Japan it has now become wildly popular all across Asia, Europe, and the USA.

Perhaps karaoke players are most popular of all in Finland. Finland holds several world Karaoke records. They have more karaoke bars per capita than any other place in the world. They hold the world record for the largest amount of people singing the same karaoke song at one time: 80,000 people! What song were they singing? Hard Rock Hallelujah! Finland also holds the world record for the longest round of non-stop Karaoke singing: 240 hours!

What’s a new craze without it’s own specialized vocabulary to go with it? Here are some karaoke words to know:

Karaoke Player - this is the karaoke machine itself. It plays karaoke songs, or music without the words. The lyrics are shown on a monitor so people can still sing the song even if they don’t know the words.

Spinning Karaoke - this is cycling on stationary bicycles while singing karaoke. What a workout!

KJ - this is the Karaoke DJ. He runs the karaoke system, and gets everyone involved. He adjusts the karaoke player to alter the key or the pitch to better match the voice range of the singer, and adds some echo, so that everyone sounds more professional.

Kamikaze Karaoke - In Kamikaze Karaoke, the KJ will choose a pitch number for you, and you have to try to sing the song in that pitch.

Hitokara - means you must sing the song alone.

A portable gas flow meter is a complicated piece of equipment. While they may be difficult to use improperly, to fully take advantage of its features you need to understand the basics of how a portable gas flow meter works.

Basics Of A Portable Gas Flow Meter

First thing you need to know is how the device actually functions. There are two transducers that come with every portable gas flow meter. Simply set the two transducers approximately a foot apart or so on the pipe. For some units this will vary, but on average a foot apart is sufficient. Next you have to run the ping from one transducer to the other. Wait a couple seconds than run this test again. You can also set up the portable gas flow meter to run a continuous test where it will switch back and forth and record the data. This test is good if you want to get a good idea of how the gas pipe is functioning over time.

There are a couple things to keep in mind that will affect the outcome of your test. First off is how contaminated the stream is that you are measuring. A portable gas flow meter works best on a completely clean stream. Any particles in the gas flow will affect your results, so it is important that you have a clean flow of gas.

Next is the diameter of the pipe. Different portable ultrasonic flowmeters are designed for different pipe diameters. Make sure number one that you are using a portable gas flow meter that can measure the pipe you need to, and number two that you have the correct measurement for the width of the pipe. Getting either of these things wrong will throw off your results completely.

The last thing to remember is that the best data you can get will be taken from many many results. Make sure you allocate enough time to take a large sample from each pipe so that you have a large amount of data to compare. A single set of data is nearly useless as there are always fluctuations in the flow speed, temperature and pressure of the gas. By taking many readings you will be able to get accurate results.

That is about it. Now you should have a good idea how to use your portable gas flow meter in a real world environment to get accurate data. This article will apply to about ninety nine percent of the meters out there, so read and understand it to make you life a lot easier.

Composition is what makes a photograph interesting, and it also keeps your viewer engaged. In order to improve your composition, just follow these tips. If you are just starting out with photography, it may take you a while to develop an “eye” for composition, but don’t worry because you will improve.

1. When you are photographing your subject, always keep composition in mind. Do not rely on cropping them afterward. While it is okay to crop your photos, you do not want to be spending time cropping every single one in order to get an interesting photograph.

2. Subject placement is the first thing to consider. Rarely do you want to place your subject in the middle of the frame. Instead, place your subject in a “sweet spot.”

In order to visualize these sweet spots, imagine a blank, rectangular photo. Imagine 2 vertical lines breaking the frame into 3 equal parts. Next, 2 horizontal lines will break the frame into 3 equal parts. These lines will intersect in 4 spots, and these are the sweet spots. These sweet spots are the places to put your subject for a great photo.

3. If you use lines and texture creatively, your viewer will be drawn in. They will also be guided around the photos with these lines.

For example, if your subject is a spiral staircase, the lines will draw the viewer around the entire photo. A cycle can be made if you have grass that draws the viewer from the bottom of the photo to the top, and rays of sun that draw the viewer from the top of the photo to the bottom.

If you have horizon lines, try placing them higher or lower in the frame. You can use strong lines with subjects such as buildings, railroad tracks, ladders, or trees.
