But it is also important because how you look impacts how people react to you. Few people take a basic “Ruth” seriously. Ruth is the term used for new players who have the basic and somewhat ugly basic skin and body shape.

You can do this easily! All you do is use the searches built into the SL client and do a search for skins & shapes. Most of these cost between $L500 and $L3000 lindens.

There are cheaper deals out there, but be cautious if they do not allow you to see a manifestation of the skin or shape. Just like in the real world the people in Second Life are not always very nice folks.

Choose another race if you want to! If you would like to you can search for “Furry” or “Neko” and become an animal like character with your avatar. There is a large population of residents who have chosen to become a Neko or Furry Avatar.

Hair is on the list now for your next item to aquire. The basic hair is very plain and will not help you set up your individual personality very well. So go shopping around to see which hair creators are best for both price and quality.

Hitherto an AO will fix that and add your personal style! Searching for AO or Animation Override can bring good results. There are hundreds of animation over-ride models out there for you to choose from, and each commonly has a theme like “Sexy Lady” or “Relaxed Male”.

Now you look so much sexier and you are no longer walking around SL like a pirate with a peg-leg. The final items you will want to acquire are things to wear and footwear.

This might take a while, but it can be extremely fun! Nice clothing from good designers will run you from $L100 to $L3000 per outfit.
