My Mom, of all people, has taken it into her head to become my personal website review board. Twice a week, she sends me an email list of sites, and talks about all the best traits of each one. To be honest, I don’t even look at most of the sites, just peek at one here and there, you know. But she sent me a url yesterday that I felt like I should share with the world.

The site has several caetgories to choose from. Real Estate was the first one to catch my eye, because it started off with an article that really me as a home owner. But there were also articles which were just as useful in the Personal Finance section. And I haven’t even touched on the great stuff listed under Entertainment.

The section on Entertainment was really great. There was news about the latest blockbuster films, and the stars who perform in them. I can’t even begin to list all of the great information which was available, but it was all really great. Whoever created this site really put some time into making it appealing to the users.

Another very interesting section was the one called Personal Finance. There were some great articles on how to reduce your debt without changing your lifestyle that were really informative and well-written. It is becoming important to manage personal finances carefully, but with helpful advice like what I found here, it is a lot easier to do.

Check out the Real Estate articles they have, too. If you own a home, or are thinking about buying one, this is definitely a site you’ll want to take a look at first. You’ll find some useful news and tips to keep in mind before you make the big investment. The real estate market is wide open at the mment, but you have to be careful how you invest.

One really great feature of this website was that I was able to set up RSS feeds for my favourite topics. If you haven’t tried using an RSS feed, you should do it. You can even have the latest posts sent directly to your inbox! That makes it super easy to stay on top of the latest information.

Really though, the site has more information avalable than I could describe to you. I tried to mention a few things here, but I know that I only scratched the surface.My advice is to take a look at it yourself, and make up your own mind. I’m sure you are going to agree that it offers a huge assortment of information for everyone.

That’s really about as well as I am able to describe the site to you. It is full of information of all sorts, with a focus on personal financial news and information, and even the real estate markets. It is a great place to keep up on current events, and the interface is super easy to use, driven by by a very intuive menu system.

Transformers figures are wildly popular toys thanks to their excellent story lines, storied past, and sheer coolness factor. While recent entrants in their toy line are impressive with their intricate transformations and gadgetry, the clunkier and heavier figures of the eighties are exceptionally desirable, partially thanks to their storied past.

In the 1970′s, Japanese toy company Takara manufactured the popular Microman and Diaclone toy lines, which featured figures that morphed into robots, electronics devices, and vehicles. Hasbro was already partnering with Takara for the G.I. Joe toy line and continued the partnership to create the Transformers figures toy line, while simultaneously purchasing the Diaclone line outright.

A backstory was created for the toy line and a plethora new characters were added, while many of the original Diaclone toys were reworked to blend into this new story line. That’s the straightforward part of their history. Then things begin to get confusing.

Soon after, the Marvel comic was released in the United States. The comics would later be released in Japan and the UK, inspiring new figure variations and bilingual names for figures in the process. In 1984 the animated series was developed, but the writers didn’t precisely follow the original backstory.

In 1986, the full length animated movie was launched, two more seasons of the cartoon show were released, and the UK and Japanese story lines were still being developed. In the early 90′s, the second generation series was produced (G2), followed by Beast Wars, followed by a new series of toys and comics developed by Dreamwave in the early 2000′s. This all led to wild discrepancies in characters, plots, backgrounds, and most other aspects associated with the backstory and toy line.

At the same time, Hasbro was launching more and more Transformers figures and sets, including Headmasters, Powermasters, Dinobots, Triggerbots, Trainbots, Throttlebots, Constructicons, Sparkobots, Protectobots, and many more. Many of these toys were truly engineering wonders. Wait a minute, don’t tell me that you thought there was only one toy line?!

Adding to the confusion are the new Transformers releases, inspired by the feature film. Some of these new toys even feature cross-over promotions with the popular Star Wars franchise. While these transforming figures don’t carry the same geek appeal as Star Wars vintage action figures or the original Transformers figures, they are very popular with newer fans of both the Transformers and Star Wars series.

The bottom line is that Transformer action figures are more than just a fun memory for many collectors; they are also a perfect example of cooperation, design ingenuity, and creativity not often seen in the current mass market toy releases. Thanks to their past, vintage Transformers figures should remain popular and collectible for many years to come.

Everyone believes “their” markets are the “coolest” collectible toy markets, but most fingers point to vintage Hot Wheels, vintage Transformers, vintage Star Wars, and vintage Pez. Out of all of these, Star Wars vintage toys are arguably among the most valuable individually, though with the many Pez prototypes and variations available, Pez are probably more valuable in aggregate.

In the late seventies, Kenner produced the original line of twelve Star Wars toys, and this entire line is highly desirable to Star Wars enthusiasts, each netting more than two thousand dollars in great condition and in their original packaging. The most valuable vintage toy is argued to be Vlix, a short-lived character who was featured in a 1983 cartoon. Vlix runs well over $6,000 if in great condition.

Contributing to the valuation of these figures is the exclusivity of the license. As an example, Kenner Canada, located in Toronto, Ontario, was the Canadian licensee for Star Wars toys in Canada from 1977 until 1985, but only manufactured about ten percent of the figures at that time. That, plus the fact that the Canadian releases were printed with bilingual packaging, adds a unique twist to those interested in the collectible value of Star Wars figures.

Another interesting collectible item available, but incredibly hard to come by, are figure prototypes. Prototypes and test products are very common in other markets, , but much rarer in the Star Wars market.

While many current Star Wars fans are young, and because there has been a glut of new licenses on the market, these newer figures will likely never attain the valuations that current vintage figures attained. For example, a recent release features Star Wars toys that morph from characters like Darth Vader into objects like the Death Star. These Transformers figures mashups are selling right now, but supply is also high, removing one of the valuation factors from the equation.

There are also other foreign releases, with the Japanese Star Wars figures being very unique, and therefore, very desirable and very collectible. European toys are also popular and regularly confused with Canadian releases, due to their bilingual packaging. The easiest way to tell these releases apart is by viewing the address on the package, which will clearly indicate the country of origin.

With Star Wars toys, you have a rabid fan base, a killer movie franchise, and heavy demand for vintage figures. These factors combine to lead many professional collectors to believe that Star Wars vintage action figures will retain their valuations for the long haul.

So dig in your attic, uncover that old AT-AT Walker or Landspeeder, and see if you have a collectible on your hands!
