If Oprah Winfrey has her way Universalism will dominate religious discourse. By advent of her extreme popularity and influence now even in the political arena, Christians may be shamed into accepting her worldview or at least to be silent about their own. She called Barack Obama “The One” and helped propel him to the White House.

Barack and Michelle Obama have been friends with Oprah for a long time. They agree with her philosophy of many paths to God. The Obama’s say they are followers of Christ. Their former pastor and also Oprah’s pastor for awhile was the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Rev. Wright taught them the Biblically errant concept of black liberation theology. Rev. Wright also taught that Jesus is NOT the only way of salvation, that that hell doesn’t exist, and that practicing homosexuals will still go to heaven. Oprah is no longer attending Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s church, but she is now promulgating New Age philosophies using her magazine, radio, and television as a platform.

A Course in Miracles is touted by Oprah as one of her sources of truth. A Course in Miracles claims that sin doesn’t exist. Isn’t that convenient. If you remove the concept of sin, then any behavior is acceptable. This commonly referred to as moral relativism. Just because you think something is sinful doesn’t mean it is sinful to someone else. It is this moral foundation that allows for a woman’s rights to be more important that the rights of the child in her womb.

The Bible is not ambiguous concerning the subjects of the right of the unborn child, practicing homosexuality, or fornication. Scriptures relating to these essential Christian doctrines are not based on “obscure” passages of scripture as Barack Obama has commented in his book, The Audacity of Hope. Yet, the beliefs of Oprah and Obama are strongly affecting our culture with a retribution. Traditional Christianity is perceived by these advocates as regressive, uninformed, and moronic. By the mere fact of a media or political person’s commanding oratory abilities, Christians are being persuaded and manipulated into quietude or acquiescence.

In my new book, The Oprahfication of Our Culture, I call this silence cultural Christianity. It is time for believers to avoid compromise by being “uncultured” Christians. This is not the hour for believers to cower into the corners of society and hope for the best. Speak out for what you believe! Stand up and having done all to stand, stand! Don’t be intimidated into silence.

Are we still a center/right country or are we advancing more toward the extremist left in ideology? Three states, California, Arizona and Florida, just asserted conservative values by passing constitutional amendments corroborating traditional marriage as being between a man and a woman, a real hindrance to the homosexual agenda. Yet, lawsuits have been proposed in California to try and abrogate the will of the people. Is a church leader open game for litigation by pundits who challenge him to quote the Bible from his platform, because their perspective of scripture is that of “hate speech?” Does the Bible breach certain assumed civil rights? Do those civil rights negate the freedom of speech and of religion we have appreciated for over two hundred years in our awesome country? Where does the path that we are on lead?

It looks like the prophet Isaiah discerned this interval in our history when he said, Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:20 The Amplified Bible

Things seem to be turning upside down. Practicing Christians are depicted as hate mongering extremists for simply differing with “politically correct” views of the cultural establishment in New York, Washington and Hollywood. In spite of these very unrelenting, well staked, fanatical, left predisposed voices, Christians are warned to be watchmen on the wall and sound the alarm (Mark 13:35-37). God’s Holy Word is not hate speech. It is the axiom of righteousness in an morally decadent world. Sit not in quietude. Be aware, pray and, be vocal. Stand out for truth.

There is an interesting website on the net which has a couple of very interesting blogs which deal with the environment and global stability. This website www.actualglobe.com talks about green gifts which are biodegradable and organic in nature.

One of the blogs gives ideas for Christmas gifts. Christmas is fast approaching and everyone will be giving presents to their near and dear ones. Most people rack their brains to get the most suitable ones which are easy on their pockets also.

It is interesting to note that there are several interesting items which suit us. For instance there are T shirts which are biodegradable. Gifting them would be nice and handy. We can make pastries and cakes and sauces which we can send to our friends for the festive occasion using cute biodegradable boxes which are easily available in the stores.

We can gift people with accessories like wooden bead necklaces and bracelets which are easy on the pocket, pretty to the eyes and also serve our purpose of saving our environment. Perhaps the best gift idea is to name a tree in our friend’s name. That would be memorable and unique. Your friend would highly appreciate a tree in his honor. A look around us shows that our environment has changed because of us. There are more storms, cyclones and the like because we have cut down trees indiscriminately and have not given them a second thought. By limiting the use of paper in our homes, we can limit the cutting down of trees to a great extent. Instead of tissues we can use washable linen napkins. Instead of paper plates during parties one can use other types of plates. We can send messages through the email or through mobile phone messages so that invitation paper is saved. Halloween and Christmas has a lot of party stuff made from paper. We can reuse them or do away with them and use other stuff for parties, thus saving a lot of trees from being cut down. By limiting the use of paper products in each house a lot of trees can be saved. It takes many years for a seed to sprout into a tree and people cut down trees without a second thought.

Another blog on this website talks about the differences in the world. It talks about the urgency by rich countries to tackle the current financial crisis and the slowness with which they come to the aid of poor countries. The rich countries gather companies while the poor ones get only broken promises over aid and developmental schemes. The third world countries are getting almost forgotten by the richer ones.

Global stability can be achieved by the whole world as one and there should be no disparities. One should not ignore the world in the haste for economic stability. Both are important.
