Located in Death Valley is a castle that was built as a vacation retreat for Albert Mussey Johnson and his wife. Stories told how the castle was built with money earned from a gold mine that he had invested in in the 20′s. Actually, there was no gold mine and his investment was in a dream but out of it he did build his vacation retreat.

When you get investors for a mining project you really should have a mine. Walter Scott had gotten Mr. Johnson to invest in the mine that was supposedly going to make them both rich. It was working for Mr. Scott until Mr. Johnson decided to come and see the mine for himself. With no mine to see it was impossible for him to get too excited about the mine.

Mr. Johnson and his wife decided that even though there wasn’t a mine in Death Valley they liked the area anyway. With that in mind they decided to build a vacation retreat. The retreat was named Death Valley Ranch but to those that were local and knew the story of Mr. Scott it was known as Scotty’s Castle.

The alure of seeing the retreat built by the “richest gold miner in California” was a huge attraction to the rich and famous. They came to see just what that type of money could buy. Mr. Johnson never told that there was no mine. It would have taken some of the charm away from the retreat to know it was built with money he had earned in other ventures and not the mine.

There are guided tours available at the castle for those of you wanting to visit. With interactive displays, living history exhibits and all inside the house it will be a treat to see. The tours are available daily on the hour.

There is a second tour that you can take while at the castle. It is the tour of the underground area of the castle. It shows you the technology incorporated a the time to produce electricity and see the 1/4 mile underground tunnel system that runs under the house.

Using the technology of the past in conjunction with the technology of today keeps the castle well preserved. The National Park Service is responsible for maintaining the castle today. The underground area has been incorporated into the workings of the current management so you will get to see some of that along with history as you tour the basement level.

There’s no doubt that TV technology has come a long way in the past decade. After all, during that time we’ve seen the introduction of dozens if not hundreds of channels, and an almost full conversion from video cassette tapes to DVD’s among other things. Other technological innovations that have become more and more mainstream are HDTV and video on demand.

Sometimes it can be kind of surprising how instrumental a single company can be when it comes to developing the newest technologies. One example of this kind of company is Comcast. Comcast is proving itself to be a pioneer when it comes to implementing the latest TV technology. It’s even developed newer TV technologies further just by adapting them to provide better services for its customers. As a result of these efforts Comcast has become a TV service provider that in many ways transcends what many critics thought was possible with cable TV technology.

The most obvious improvement is over the years radically increased the number of channels offered. While it used to be that one hundred channels was a lot for a cable TV company to handle, now it offers upwards of two hundred and seventy five channels in its largest programming package. Creating a professional career as a music composer or sound designer for television, new media, and film is a challenging undertaking. Though the licensing of original music and sound occurs daily throughout the world, an aspiring musician may be overwhelmed on where or how to pursue a career in audio that results in actual financial and personal success. The 7 steps that follow outline an efficient and effective means of moving from a hopeful professional to an respected and paid industry participant.

1. Take the totality of your mixes and sounds and create a demo CD or online posting of 30 second clips organized by mood, genre, etc. to hand out to interested producers who need audio.

2. Build a website which includes demo samples, a short relevant bio, credits, and a video reel of any previous work.

3. Armed with your demo and website, seek out free or low paying gigs in order to gain credits and experience, build your resume, and establish business relationships for the future.

4. Create a databank of prospects who have money for music and sound by contacting animators, producers, video editors, directors, and post-production companies. Discover these helpful folks by finding gigs on online posts, joining professional organization, asking friends and family, networking through film group forums, and cold emailing.

5. Check in and follow up on prospects every few months via email and distribute an e-newsletter mentions your current work, services, and any relevant industry information or articles to add interest.

6. Continue to learn different aspects of the audio industry such as audio sweetening and technical skills such as video conversion, FTP use, and sample rate and file conversion.

7. Make sure your music license agreements and invoicing system is ready to go as the clients and inquiries begin to roll in.

Follow the above 7 steps to create a career as a music composer and sound effects designer out of thin air. The clients are out there in all forms and music is needed everywhere and with the world wide web the entire world is literally at your fingertips. The above process from start to finish may take two to three years of determined effort, but it will work if your talent and skills are up to par. The demand for music and audio is great but elusive. One of the biggest marketing trends to hit the telecommunications industry lately is bundled services. With bundled services, consumers can typically get up to three different home telecommunications services itemized together on a single bill. The rationale behind this phenomenon is that consumers will have the convenience of having to deal with only one monthly bill for their communications services, rather than two or three.

Consumers also experience savings because most companies will provide a discount on bundled services in exchange for the increased revenue of providing a household with more than one service.

While a lot of different telecommunications companies provide bundled services, some do a better job of it than others. For example, one common shortcoming of some bundled telecommunications services takes place when a company farms out some of the services to other companies rather than taking responsibility for those additional services themselves. For example, it’s not unusual for a satellite TV company to offer DSL Internet access and land line phone service through a phone company in addition to its own satellite TV service. While customers will receive a discount and have the convenience of only paying a single monthly bill for all three services, the customers don’t have the convenience of dealing with only one company.

Comcast’s high speed Internet service is far superior to other forms of supposedly high speed Internet. For example, it attain download speeds over six times faster than what DSL is capable of, and four times faster than what satellite Internet. Plus, the fact that Comcast’s high speed Internet service uses the same digital cable that delivers cable TV service means that you can do without a phone line entirely if you choose to go with a VoIP option. This simply isn’t possible with DSL because DSL requires a phone line, and VoIP applications won’t work with satellite Internet service because of the time lag created by the fact that the satellites are thousands of miles above the surface of the Earth.

Even if you want a more conventional phone service than VoIP, Comcast can provide that as well with it’s digital voice service. Again, Comcast takes full responsibility for the phone service rather than acting as the middleman between you and the phone company. This allows it to offer features and value that traditional phone services don’t.

While there are a lot of companies offering packages of bundled services, Comcast serves as an example of some of the better ways to implement this idea.

I found a really grat website last week, and thought I should spread the word, because it was so great. The website is filled with reviews of other online sites, and provides some excellent information on what each one offers, and what sets it apart from the crowd.

The variety of topics to be found online is nearly endless. From aardvarks to zebras, acid rain to yellow fever, there is most likely a multitude of websites on the subject. Such endless variety is one of the most popular aspacts of the worldwide web, but that profucion is also a likely cause for confusion when trying to find the perfect sites to add to your bookmarks.

If news and current events are your interest, you’ll want to know which sites to visit to fill your news and entertainment needs. Join virtual communities focused around a topic of interest, and composed of people from all over the world. Get the facts on important online shops and communities, some of them famous, and others that ought to be.

Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast, so it is said, and the internet makes the sharing of individual expression through music as easy as finding just the site to do it. I can’t make you visit this site I keep talking about, but it really was informative, with reviews of sites I’ve known about for years, but including innovative ones music, and a plethora of easy and affordable online shopping.

The reviews were really excellent. Not only did they cover a wide range of websites, but they were also very informative, offering all of the key information about every site I was interested in. Those I wasn’t interested in as well, but I undertandably spent less time looking at the reviews. In all, this is the best website review site I’ve visited, which is why I am suggesting it to others.

Seeing an image of a site’s home page before I visited the site was very helpful, for my own security. I knew exactly what it looked like on arrival, and was able to go directly to the information I was looking for it. It is hard to find a website review that is so accurate, but this managed to pull it off, even telling me the steps involved in getting my information.

Maybe I’m over-reacting, but I don’t really think so. This was the best website review spot I’ve seen. But don’t take my word for it, take a look for yourself, and you’ll see the wide variety of information it offers. And then you’ll believe me next time I make a suggestion.

I’ve seen a lot of websites that gave reviews of this site or that one, but never one that featured such a wide variety of interests, or provided such clear information. It lived up to the task of delivering a professional review, and gave me plenty of information about the sites reviewed to allow me to make a decision whether to visit or not.

Tandem Skydiving. Throwing yourself out of a plane at 10,000 feet might be considered utter madness. Your experience normally begins with a thorough briefing on skydiving and landing techniques, before you go up in the plane.
