My review of the Melissa and Doug Folding Princess Castle
Does your daughter love princesses like mine does? I’ve always heard that little girls idolize princesses, and they love dollhouses. Believe me, my daughter is no exception.
Well, now Melissa and Doug have brought you the best of both worlds – your daughter or granddaughter gets to have a dollhouse made for princesses!
I knew my kids would love the folding princess castle by Melissa and Doug as soon as I saw it in the toy store. We’ve got plenty of Melissa and Doug toys at home, such as puzzles, blocks, and other educational toys. Needless to say, we’ve always been happy with their construction and quality.
It comes as no surprise that the folding princess castle is a combo of gold and pink colors. The castle looks very real for an inexpensive toy. I think they did a solid job of making the princess castle – no complaints here. It’s a no-brainer to buy this thing if you have daughters between 5 and 12 years old. I’m pleased it’s so well-made and looks good. I think it’s about 3 feet big when unfolded, so it’s large. I managed to buy it for about eighty bucks, so it’s worth the money, believe me.
The folding princess castle appears to be difficult to set up, however it’s simple and quick to do so. Because it’s a folding castle you can remove it from the box and unfold it, without having to put pieces together. Then you decide where to put the turrets and towers and you’re all set to play. Oh, in case you’re wondering, the turrets and tower can be moved around.
The Melissa and Doug princess castle is easy to move around because it weighs 16 pounds. Because it can fold up and unfold, it’s fast to assemble and disassemble. Your daughter will have lots of fun imagining royal adventures with her folding princess castle.
No surprises that the princess castle is pink, (most little girls’ favorite color).
Another great detail is the flag. The folding princess castle uses a magnet to hold it in place, which makes it easy to remove, and also makes it difficult to be snapped off or broken. Because of the flag’s small size, however, it can be easily lost. A creative idea that comes to mind is to have your kids act out a capture the flag story. If you lose the flag, be prepared to search long and hard like I’ve had to!
It comes with the following changeable items: Movable towers, dungeon, door and turrets, Spacious balconies, Large courtyard, Arched walkway, Flying buttresses, Working drawbridge, Royal flag, Movable dungeon, Staircases, and it Unfolds completely to reveal a courtyard play space
Believe me, I’m very happy that my daughter gets to act out her princess fantasies with this cool toy. I should’ve waited for Christmas this year, but I ended up buying it for her at thanksgiving. Now I have to figure out something as good for Christmas! Help!
