The Internet offers us a wide variety of sites, games and genres, what games people really like to play? After some research and checking, some was used by lots of Google tools I got to some interesting conclusions.
The most popular games are, believe it or not, dress up! I don’t know if it’s because of the fact that girls have less categories that appeal them then boys or that they really like to play but this genre is extremely popular.
So what are dress up games anyway, i guess most of you never played those games before, well Dress up games are similar to paper dolls for girls except you dress them up online. Dress up games are excellent introductions for young girls first entering the world of computers and gaming which is a great value for young girls that usually don’t approach computers, a thing that might be a disadvantage later on compared to boys that have lots of interaction with computers since young age.
You can see how popular the genre is from the large number of dress up sites on the Net. Another popular category is driving games, which always appealed to the boys and grown up men section, for some people it’s the only place they can practice fast and wild driving, well, better at the computer home then the real road.
Driving games let you travel at higher speeds then usually allowed by law in the comfort of your own house so the majority of people enjoy this games.
Racing games can be judged by a lots of aspects, such as graphics, handling and track selection, but the most important one for hardcore race fans is the upgrades options, the more options you have, the better! Driving games can get boring pretty fast so game developers must innovate and find original ways to upgrade the game play.
Most Racing games can be categorized into two sub genres: racing simulation, in which the physics and real-world parameters of the cars are emphasized; and arcade racing, in which no accurate representation is presented, this genre offers just pure fun.
The last popular genre are the shooting games that can be distilled into two main types-the adventure genre of games and the simple shoot em up genre, no plot just shoot whatever you see, A very popular sub genre inside the shooting games are the space/futuristic games that feature some mission and destroying some meteorites and other targets that come in the way of your space craft. Shooting games can be fantastic pure fun if executed properly so the game developer must put an emphasis on the the game engine and graphics.
Another surprisingly popular games are board games that can be described as a unique branch of strategy games, board games can appeal to both experienced gamers and casual ones, providing instant fun on any number of platforms.
