Louisiana Mardi Gras
Celebrated in countries like Rio de Janeiro and Brazil, however if you are in the United States there’s no need to travel that far. Louisiana celebrates the Mardi Gras every year in New Orleans. This is one of the most popular carnivals that happens here throughout the year and is known all over the world. The festivities start on the twelfth night after Christmas and end forty six days before Easter each year.
There are many reasons why the Mardi Gras has become so popular. What started out years ago as a tradition in the courts of the Kings and Queens is still being celebrated years after. There are parades, balls, and many other festivities that you can take part in; not to mention the food. There is an abundance of Cajun delicacies and King cakes too. These are the things that many people from different places come for.
With the amount of people who attend the Mardi Gras each year, it can be a challenge going there. If you want to join in on the festivities there are some things that you can do to make your trip easier. The first thing to remember if you are planning on staying is to book accommodations early. You can do this as early as eight months before to be sure that you have a room.
Don’t forget about comfort and safety either when you plan your Mardi Gras trip. It won’t exactly be the best time to dress up. Instead wear something comfortable; you will surely do a lot of walking. Don’t take jewelry and large amounts of money with you. If you need to bring essentials and other important things with you consider using a fanny pack or something that is close to your body and easy to keep track of.
Trying to get a hotel, going through crowds and other things may not seem all that attractive to others. If you are thinking of visiting Louisiana at some other time when it isn’t the Mardi Gras, you’ll find other things to do as well. There are craft fairs and festivals that you can check out. This will allow you to get a taste of something that is authentically Louisiana made as well.
