When I first found my grandmother’s Wizard of Oz collectibles while going through the attic, I was surprised. Wizard of Oz dolls did not seem like her style. She has always been an extremely practical woman, you see, and collectible figurines do not fit in with that image of her. Her house doesn’t look like a typical old lady’s house. There are no collectible porcelain figurines, no blown glass, no sentimental pictures of her grandchildren when they were small. Everything is pretty plain. She has an almost Spartan aesthetic.

Her Wizard of Oz collectibles, by contrast, have a much different look to them. They were an early set of Wizard of Oz collectible dolls made soon after the movie, and they had an adorable, almost cherubic appearance. Even the flying witch and the monkeys looked absolutely adorable. They were very cute ” not at all what I would expect her to possess.

My grandmother was always an interesting woman, and when I asked her a few questions about the Wizard of Oz collectibles she had an interesting reply. Apparently, when she was a kid the Wizard of Oz with one of her favorite movies. It actually inspired her towards being a writer. Although she had never realized her dreams of writing movies for Hollywood, the collectible figurines still remain precious for her. After all, she had composed several stories and scripts which are still kept safe and sound as treasured mementos of her earlier days.

Seeing those Wizard of Oz collectibles really enhanced my opinion of my grandmother. I had always seen her as sort of a two-dimensional figure. It is easy to take someone who you have known since your earliest childhood for granted. Seeing another hidden dimension of her personality has been an eye-opening and fascinating experience. Now I know that my grandmother, although plainspoken for the most part, could also be sentimental and even emotional at times. Holding on to Wizard of Oz dolls from her childhood simply because they have inspired her at one point was something that had seemed out of character for her, but in retrospect I’m sure that I know her better for finding them.

Last Christmas, as a matter of fact, I got her a new Wizard of Oz collectible doll. It was from a completely different series, and I wanted to see how she would react. Although I could tell that she didn’t like it as much as her original Wizard of Oz collectibles, she still seem to really appreciate the effort I went through. She gave me a big hug and smiled at me.

Swirling is a long time technique adapted by wine drinkers to coax a shy wine to open up. By spreading the wine against the sides of the glass, the surface area is exposed and the solution is easily exposed to the air. The added oxygen also helps the aroma ‘blossom up’ in to a full-bodied taste.

By swirling, you can also observe the wines viscosity – the rate at which runs back into the solution and whether how long it sticks to the side of the glass. Thick wines are said to be more alcoholic than running wine. It is not a 100% guarantee that the belief is true, but it is a quick reference as to determining the wine’s quality. A ‘thick’ wine is a full bodied wine.

Let your nose take an experimental sniff from the outside of the glass, slowly come closer and sniff from the lip of the glass. Slowly, bring your nose inside the glass and sniff once more. Process what do you smell? Take a small, ample slip and slowly swirl it and roll it around your mouth. Let the wine flow through your taste buds, coating each bud with the goodness of the wine. Try and taste the smooth and silky, soft feeling of the liquid. Pay attention to the sensations and the feelings that flit and travel from your tongue, to your gums, and to your teeth.

Breathe through your mouth and allow the air to carry the wine up from your mouth to the back of your nose. Breathe out through your nostrils. Discover new scents and aromas that have been liberated by your mouth’s movements and the fluids of your tongue.

With your second drink, slurp the wine with air. Note the subtle (or dramatic) change with the wine as you introduce the air with the liquid. Feel for any difference. See if there is any observable development and difference with each of the samples you have ingested.

You may believe that the answer to this question is by taking a certain IQ test that would determine your level of intelligence. Certain theories are found to be the guidelines that are being used in poring over the brain’s performance.

Our brain has the capability of combining both linguistic as well as mathematical aptitude because its is unified in a way. The parts of the brain can be stimulated by certain problem solving activities that may contribute to its performance which involves the spatial, rhythmic, kinesthetic and inter/intra personal growth.

The question now is what tactics can you use to be able to increase your brain’s performance? And this question would be answered based on your accomplishments and the results of your achievement so you may have to take note of that.

The initial thing that one should look into is what you are definitely good about. There are different skills where one can actually derive intelligence from. what ever skill you think you’re good at. that would be your achievement. A lot of people are not aware of what skills are they really good at. If you really are creative, then you can work on any artistic act that involves creative thinking.

There are so many tings that we can work on potentially and even exceed expectations. Some may be more inclined to some indoor sports and excel through performance. You may try getting into gymnastics, dancing or even designing as well just to make sure which would be more comfortable for you to test your abilities. The taste you might get from the wines depend on four basic components found in all wines: the taste from the juice, the tannin from the skin, seeds and the barrel used for aging the wine, alcohol from fermentation, and the acidity of aging. Some lesser known taste descriptions wine tasters use are minerality, asparagus and earthiness.

Here are some of the common tastes that most of the wine tasters report with each type of wine. The growing region, harvesting time, and production all have impact on the tastes and feeling of the wine.

Cabernet wine has a registered taste made of usually green spices, cherry, black fruits, and black currant. Merlot has a floral sense to it, with green spices, red and black fruits (or a combination therein) and plum for flavor. Zinfandel wines often has black fruits and spices (called briaries in other dialects).

Syrah/Shiraz uses black fruits and spices too, most often the peppers. Pinot Noir, a good variety, has red fruits, flowers and herbs as a bouquet. Chardonnay in the cooler climates, are aged with tropical fruits. Citrus and melon are used for those in the warmer regions. Malolactic fermentation makes Chardonnay lose its green apple flavor and takes on a feeling something akin to ‘creme’.

Note that malolactic fermentation causes a lot of white wines to adopt a creamy and sometimes buttery taste. Oak barrels used for aging some wines give the wine a nutty and vanilla-ish flavor.

If I was to ask people to vote for their favourite rock and roll artists I am sure that Ringo would be one name that appears in a top ten list. For decades he has been entertaining, and thrilling people of all ages, with his talent, and natural charisma.

The struggles of his early life.

Starr was born Richard Starkey on July 7, 1940 in Liverpool. Starrs life was one wrought with obstacles, beginning when his parents separated when Ringo was a toddler. His mother remarried and Ringo grew up with his mother and eventual step-father in a working-class suburb of Liverpool.

But apart from difficulties of a family nature, Ringo also suffered a number of health problems, some of which were quite serious. However Ringo was and is a fighter, and he came through these.

As a result of these medical problems, Starr was seriously behind academically, and could not read or write when most children his age already could. His attitude towards school was never positive, and Ringo was known to play hooky quite often. These academic problems were part of the reason Ringo was eventually drawn to music.

When Starr was 13, he was dealt another medical blow when he was diagnosed with pleurisy, and he had to spend two years in the hospital as a result of this ailment. By the time he got out he was 15, and so far behind in school that he gave up the thought of ever returning at that point.

For most people this would have been a disaster, but Ringo was able to turn things to the good because eventually, as his lack of education closed a number of doors, so opened the main door of his life – music.

The beginning of his career

Ringo started his first band in 1957, and it was called The Eddie Clayton Skiffle Group, and then two years later he joined The Raving Texans. It was here that he got his nickname because of the number of rings that he wore.

It was while he was playing with The Raving Texans that he met a group that yopu may have heard of – The Beatles! They eventually persuaded Ringo to join them as replacement for Pete Best.

A Legend in the Making

Nobody would argue that joining The Beatles was the best move that Ringo ever made, as it enabled him to enjoy an unbelievable level of fame and fortune which he is still enjoying to this very day.

His Solo Career.

His solo career began just as soon as The Beatles era ended, in 1970. Ringo released two albums that same year and followed up with many more albums and singles. He has indeed made a great success out of his solo career.

Where has all this got him?

When you add it all up, Starr has truly been a star. He won a combined 22 Grammy Awards for his work with the Beatles, Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band and his solo work. He has sold millions of records around the world, and in 1988, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

If you want to go snorkeling in Hawaii, you should try the Island of Kauai. This is the best island to snorkel in Hawaii. There is the most diverse underwater population of fish in the world to be found here. The Na Pali coast is where you will find them. You can only access this area by way of water as there is no land route that will access this reef. If you are lucky, you may even get to snorkel with some marine mammals as well as viewing the coral reefs and fish.

Kauai is known for having the most protected reefs, which makes it excellent for novice snorkeling. The only requirements for snorkeling are basic swimming skills. Even so, vests are offered to assist with floatation. You do not even have to be outstanding shape to enjoy snorkeling. However, make sure that you check with your doctor first if you have any physical limitations. Basically, your snorkeling quest can be tailored to fit your ability level and your sense of adventure.

There are a few items you will need to begin snorkeling; these are bathing suit, snorkel, mask and fins. Since the temperature of the water is warm, you will not need a wet or dry suit to snorkel. Good fitting gear is a must when snorkeling. You will also need to apply a waterproof sun block so that you do not get sun burnt. You may also want to wear a tee shirt while snorkeling for added protection.

You will want to check the local weather to make sure the area is safe for snorkeling before you go out. You should never, ever snorkel alone, this is dangerous and you should always follow the buddy system. Keep checking the shore line so that you know exactly where you are at all times. It is very easy to get lost when you are under water so by checking your location periodically, you will now where you are without getting lost. The underwater currents can carry you further than you think without your realizing it.

You want to go snorkeling when the waters are not rough. Make sure you are in an area where this is not much commotion so that the view under the water will be visible. When the waters are not calm, currents can take you to places you do not wish to go and you can lose control. This is not the best way to get the full enjoyment of the surroundings and your snorkeling adventure. You may want to go out early in the day or at low tide when the waters are more typically calm.

You want to keep to the reefs and not travel to far into the sandy areas. There are not many fish or pretty views on a sandy bottom and you do not want to come across any dangerous marine life that you may encounter on a sandy bottom area. You also want to make sure that you avoid sharp areas of coral that can cut you badly.

Make sure you are confident when you go snorkeling, any lack of confidence can create harm. If you need to, go with someone who has been snorkeling before for advice. They will be able to lead you in the right direction and can be helpful if problems arise. You will be amazed at the amount of adventures you can have when snorkeling the reefs of Kauai.

When most people think about a first project in woodworking, they picture a wooden stool. A stool, everyone figures, is as simple as it can get. This seems logical at first ” stools are small, they only have 3 legs, and they don’t have to be much to look at. Once you start working on it, you will realize how hard it actually is. Wooden stools have to be stable and study, and there is a lot of detail work. Aside from that, once you are done, what do you have? Nothing but a stool. How often do you really need to use that!

No, wood chairs are a much better first project than a stool. If you like rustic wood furniture, a well-made wooden chair will last you for years and years. You will be able to show it off to your friends, letting them know how crafty you are with your hands. Best of all, there are many wood chair designs that are not very hard to make. When I made my first wood chair, in fact, I had no woodworking skills at all. I was completely new to it, and I only had a few basic tools.

How you go about making a wood chair depends on how ambitious you are. There are, of course, many different kinds of wood chairs. There are wood folding chairs, hand tooled wood restaurant chair, and even wooden recliners. Basically, anything you see in a store can be made at home. Still, I recommend that you stay away from any of these. The best thing to do is try something simple that you know you will be able to succeed at. If it is a little bit simple looking, so what? You can always try for something more difficult the next time, and best of all, you have a finished project ” a usable chair.

If you are pretty creative with it, you can make a wood chair out of no more than four pieces. You make the back all one piece, stretching from the top of the head rest to the bottom of the legs. You can then attach the seat to that horizontally, and attach the front legs (also one piece) to that. The fourth piece, of course, is a brace for the legs on the bottom.

Making the joints stable using this design is a little tricky, and you should probably get someone who knows what they are doing to help you. Nevertheless, with proper tools and skills, you can make this style of wood chair in as little as an hour.
