A Biography Of Allen Iverson The Basketball Star
Talent in the NBA is easy to find, but in the case of Allen Iverson there was something more than the average all-star athlete. Being the first pick of the NBA draft, Iverson quickly became a favorite among fans. Even over 10 years later since his initial induction, he continues his career doing what he loves most.
Despite his small size, coming in at only six feet tall, Iverson has made a rather large impact on the NBA. He has maintained one of the highest average scores per game in the history of the NBA, following greats such as Michael Jordan. Considering he is small on NBA terms, this feat is surely nothing easy to achieve.
The Pistons are glad to have such a valuable player. We know that Iverson is truly valuable due to his record of awards given. Even though he was still considered fairly new in the year of 2001, Iverson achieved the NBA Most Valuable Player award regardless. He actually started obtaining awards fairly early in his career, as can be seen with the 1997 award for Rookie of the Year. Even today, his list of awards continues to grow.
The basketball great wasn’t an overnight success. Iverson has a long history with basketball, starting from his high school days and continuing into college. After proving his worth at Georgetown, Iverson was quickly inducted into the NBA as a first pick for the 76ers, who were pleased with the player’s ability to handle the ball and get points on the board.
When the2004 Olympic games came around, Iverson was picked to play. He did exceptionally well, but regardless, the basketball team ended up claiming a bronze medal due to several losses. In this period, Iverson was punished for arriving to practice late. As history has seen, Iverson has always had a problem with being on time or even coming to practices in general. This is quite amazing, considering he is one of the best players in the NBA.
Just as his basketball record seems to go a long way back, so does Iverson’s ability to find trouble. In one case Iverson was sued for a brawl and ended up paying millions of dollars in damages. Even early on in life, Iverson has been known to skip practices or be caught with possession of illegal substances. Even though he has had some problems, Iverson has ultimately kept in a well enough state that he can play great basketball for his team.
In Conclusion
It would seem that Iverson has done well in achieving fame and fortune for his family name. How he plans on continuing his basketball career and ability to stay free of problems, the future will tell. We can only hope he continues to surpass his basketball idols on the court.
