7. Keep rubbing her ears gently until you feel like it is time to move in for the kiss. When you are ready, run your finger across her jawline and slowly turn her head to face you. Get closer as she turns her head and look in her eyes. Move in until your lips are almost touch and let her move in the rest of the way.

Why not try making your own cards? My friends love it when they receive my home made cards. So lets get to work on making wax resist cards. Yes, I mean it, get creative!

So okay, what are the basic requirements needed for this? A No 6 brush, some silver or gold paint, scissors, 2 H pencil, a glue stick like Pritt, as an example, watercolour paints, childrens wax crayons and some pieces of A5 card.

You need a card that the wax crayons will work on. Ideally one with a surface that appears chalky, but also has a slight texture to it. Naturally, if it is stiff, the result will be better as you need to be able to fold it in half.

If you are lucky, you can sometimes purchase ready made blank greeting cards, but this is not always possible, so this is an alternative method. Your local printer will sometimes sell and cut down A3 paper to A5 for you and this may work out to be a cheaper option.

So lets get cracking! From your A5 paper you need to cut a piece widthways and split it into two halves. On one piece, draw your image centrally. Bearing in mind that you have to be able to cut this out, make any image pretty clear. You need to choose something with segments, say like flowers with petals, which are then really clearly outlined so that when you cut them out you have some stencils.

Grab the scissors and cut round your stencils. If you have now obtained all your cut out pieces, stick these to your remaining piece of card. You should have now a picture, which is raised. So, fold widthways a piece of your A5 card in half to form your card and then you can position your picture, that is already glued, into the centre of this.

So really, what you have now, is your template. Take your crayons and rub over the card surface. The raised shapes that you have, will catch the colour of your image underneath. It is important that you hold the card and template firm and steady, while you work on it. If you move even slightly it could mar your work.

Presumably you have reached this point, continue with another crayon by rubbing the side of this all over your card front. It will then show up the colours that are underneath. You can make these even stronger by pressing harder.

Different crayons will make slightly different marks, according to where you apply more pressure. Using a No 6 brush you can now apply watercolour paint, but you will want to use a fairly watery mix. With silver or gold paint, I suggest, you paint a square or a circle around your work, then you can wash over your other work, so that it will fill in spaces.

Be careful too, not to paint too much on your crayoned image. You need the paint to be watered down to give you fairly transparent colours.

In a colour wheel half of the wheel contains red, orange and yellow and you could say these are warm colours which seem to move forward. Whereas in the other half of the wheel you have blue, violet and green, which emit coolness and they seem to shrink backwards.

You could use this to advantage if you were doing a landsape painting. If you used blue and green for trees at the back, it would make them look distant and far away. When you use colors that are opposites in the circle they are called complementary colours.

This can be used to great effect to create strong colouring which is vibrant and a good contrast to your pictures.

Something to remember is the light reflects everything we see in colour around us. To the average person they probably see, say, brown as brown, red as red, but it does not have to be like this.

No two skies are the same and just look how many shades of colour they may contain. The same applies to the seas with the different greens, blues and sometimes they even look black, depending on the light.

Take a rainbow when the sunlight goes through the raindrops, this is when you get the spectrum. So, if you put these colours into a ring, you have a colour wheel. So, let`s move to colour mixing!

Red, yellow and blue cannot be produced fom any other colour in the wheel for these, the primary colours, are pure. Secondary colours are made by a level mixture of the two primary colour neighbours from the circle, these being the orange, green and violet.

To take this one step further, you can mix the secondary colours with any of the three primary colours. Turquoise being what occurs if you mix blue with green. If you look at the colour labels on paints, it seems the names seem to stem from precious stones and plants.

In a colour wheel it will be noticable that there is no black or white. If light falls on an object, it will take some of its wavelengths, as it were, and bounce back others which will make up the colour before us.

With the colour black it soaks them all up and white bounces them all back. Therefore black is a missing colour and white is all the colours made into one.

I would suggest that you try and create different browns. Simply try various mixes of the primary colours.

Colours are so important to art. Firstly by what they can convey, like atmosphere, space, emotions, illusions, realism and excitement, are just some! But hey, they can be dull, vibrant, impasto, translucent, textured, gloss, matt, flat, light, dark, impasto transparent or opaque.

Sanguine can be a chalk or crayon which comes in a flesh colour, it can also be a reddish or blood red shade. The pigment has oxide contained in it and is usually made of clay or chalk. This can also be the name of a drawing done in this medium and is really the main colour in conte crayons. The description red chalk also refers to the shade.

Sandy Paste is a very interesting texture which also spreads very well. It is often used with pastels and is a gritty acrylic type of paste that is the colour of sand.

Scale – As an example, if I was to say I am drawing a quarter scale, my drawing would be a quarter of the size of the original drawing. Therefore, the scale is the ratio of dimensions of one object to another, so in art it is the ratio of your work in comparison to the original.

Triptych can actually be a set of three carvings or pictures, which also share a definate connection. Usually the central piece is the largest and has a piece of art both sides of it. These can be hung side by side, mounted sometimes, or even, in some instances, are hinged together.

Diptych is a work that is made up by two paintings which can be put together, or spaced apart, or you can also have a Polytych, which is a work made up of four or five panels.

Automatic Drawing, which can also be called automation. An interesting form of drawing, as with this you use your pencil or brush without really thinking about it. Probably first used by Surrealists who did not really conform to traditional methods as it allowed them more freedom of expression.

Using this method spontaneously, as it were, strange pictures emerged which also tended to be what I would call Abstact Expressionist.

Graphite – Years ago this was used for writing, by using small lumps of it, which were attached to a stick. It is a form of carbon, which is a grey or black. At one time it was called black lead and to this day some pencils are not properly labelled and are still being sold as lead pencils. The pencils themselves are a mixture of graphite and clay.

Conte crayons are dating back from the 18th Century. These crayons can produce various degees of hardness as they have different variances of graphite and clay.

They are a bit like chalk, but slightly greasy, so they do not crumble as much. Available usually in a few colours, namely brown, black and a red. These are used for drawing. Conte invented the modern graphite pencils, but when he was young he was a portrait painter.
