It is hard not to see that the internet gaming industry is huge. It has exceeded over fifty billion dollars and continues to grow.These internet gaming companies have made wonderful worlds in cyberspace where you can go to escape your dull real life. One of the most famous of these is World of Warcraft

By being a MMORPG(massively multiplayer online role playing game) hundreds, and yes, even thousands of players join in the game at the same time. They can play in different and separate zones. They are even able to play each other. The paticipantts can do battle with each other and they have also been known to team up for their respective advantage.

There have been many editions of this game,the fourth and latest being Wrath of the Litch King. The original version, Orcs and Humans, was originally [launched|released in 1994. Azeroth is the name of the world in which World of Warcraft occurs but in the game it is commonly refered to as The Realm. In 2004, Warcraft III;The Frozen Throne was released coinciding with Blizzard Entertainment’s tenth anniversary. Blizzard Entertainment being the owners and developers of The World of Warcraft.As of this writing, there are over ten million players worldwide.

Gameplay involves the control and playing of characters wandering across(trekking) and exploring the different sectors, battling enemies and chatting with other players. The rewards are more money, powers, items,both normal and enchanted, experience which in turn increases the players overall power level.

At first the game had merely 60 power levels. This changed with the release of The burning Crusade expansion pack which brought the power levels up to 70. This increased again with the release of The Wrath of the Litch King which brought the power levels to 80. You have the option of fighting other real players like yourself, or you can fight a computer generated rival. Doing battle with a real person can be alot of fun and it makes this game interactive.

Some will see similarities in the characters of World of Warcraft and those found in Dungeons and dragons. Some say that Dungeons and Dragons was the template from which World of Warcraft was created. Though many similarities can be seen, I will not dwell on the point in this writing.

When a player starts to put together their charecter, they get to decide between eight races. Even after that there are nine character classes that one can opt from.There are two factions which the races are divided into. These are The Alliance and The Horde.Orcs, Trolls, Undead, Tauren and Blood Elves belong in the Horde, as Humans, Gnomes, Dwarves, Night Elves and Draenei are part of the Alliance.

Hunter, Paladin, Mage, Shaman, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, Druid and Warrior are the nine classes available. The Death knight class is the newest addition in the latest expansion of the game called Wrath of the Lich King.

In World of Warcraft, there are two types of characters, player characters,which are actual people and Non player characters (NCP),which are generated by the game. Then there are three types of NCP which are friendly, hostile and Neutral NCP.

There are qualities that the character picks up during gameplay that do not involve fighting. These qualities are what becomes the character’s profession. There are two kinds of professions,primary and secondary.

Another thing that can have a direct effect on the player’s progress and ultimate rewards are the reputation levels. The player achieves|attains|acquires|gets to| the higher reputation levels by conquering a given region or overcoming mighty foes.The benefits of a higher reputation include buying at a discount at the vendors and getting unique objects. Just think of it like street cred.
