Canon EOS 50D Digital SLR Camera is a digital single lens reflex camera that supersedes Canons EOS 40D digital SLR camera. It falls between an entry-level camera and a professional camera. It is one of Canons EOS cameras that offer both high-speed and great quality. It is compatible with EF and EF-S lenses that have a conversion factor of 1.6x.
The camera has 15.1 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, which is always ready to capture images in an instant. It features a 14-bit analog to digital conversion (A/D conversion). This helps the camera produce 4752 x 3168-pixel sized images with smooth color tones and gradations. It has a maximum ISO rating of 12800.
It uses a bright 3-0-inch Clear View LCD (920,000 dots/VGA) color monitor that offers more detailed display. With a monitor this large, you can view scenes up to 160 degrees. It also includes a new smudge-resistant coating. Using its Live View Function, you can easily compose, review, delete and edit photos.
The Live View Function enables critical focus by allowing you to zoom in and navigate composition 5x or 10x the normal size. It features Quick mode, Live mode and Face Detection Live mode to assist you in focusing your subject. This function also enables you to control the camera remotely. You can either use a computer through a USB cable or an optional accessory called Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E3A.

It has the ability to shoot up to 6.3 frames per second or 16 RAW image files in burst. With JPEG images, it can shoot up to 90 using a UMDA CF card or 60 using a CF card in bursts.
It has a state of the art image processing system called the DIGIC 4. Compared to DIGIC III, this new generation image processor offers finer details and more natural color reproduction. With its advanced signal processing technologies, it can provide you with faster operations.
The DIGIC 4 Image Processor enables Face Detection Live mode, which is used to detect and focus up to 35 faces. It also offers Auto Lighting Optimizer, which allows you to automatically correct brightness and contrast. It features Peripheral Illumination Correction that can be used to the EF lenses.
For a perfectly exposed image, the exclusive Lens Peripheral Illumination Correction was added. It can correct any light fall off in the corners of the frame. Although detected automatically, the correction data can be entered manually using the included utility software developed by Canon.
Canon EOS 50D digital SLR camera features 9-point Auto Focus, which enables it to focus faster and more accurately. It also has a self cleaning sensor unit and a dust delete data detection function to help you achieve perfectly clean image possible.
