Virginia Nelson County Folk Life Festival
On May 30 and May 31 there will be a Nelson County Folk Life Festival. The theme of the festival is a day to remember and a place to enjoy. This festival is to celebrate the history and heritage of the 1800s plantation. The festival will officially open by 10:00 A.M. and end by 5:00 P.M. daily.
The location of the festival will be at the Pharsalia, 2333 Pharsalia Road, Tyro, VA 22976. It is the place where you will receive a lot of hospitality by the community. Pharsalia has been know for it hospitality for two centuries. This Pharsalia was build by William Massie on 1814. This property still holds the original outbuildings and gardens.
The property will help visitors to connect with their family, land and even themselves. In festival and property will help the visitors remember the history of the plantation. By attending this festival you will also help maintain the uniqueness of the house.
A $15.00 admission fee is for adults and when purchased before the event the adult admission fee will be $10.00. Children has an admission fee of $5.00 whether at the event or before the event. For 4th, 5th grade and home schooled children studying history will get a free pass. The wine tasting entry fee is $5.00.
For the ticket to the festival you have the choice of purchasing it online of at these locations locations Stoney Creek Pharmacy, Nellysford, VA, Nelson County Visitor’s Center, Lovingston, VA, from any Nelson County, VA, Rotarian. For the free pass it will be distributed at the elementary school. Some of the activities that have been planned by the organizers are period, music and dances, Plantation tours, craftsmen at work, storytelling and many more activities.
