North Dakota Annual Honor Dance and Spring Celebration
At the MSU Dome on April 24 to April 25, 2009 the Native American Cultural Awareness Club will be sponsoring the 20th Annual Honor Dance and Spring Celebration (Pow Wow). From 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M on April 24 there will be a Educational Presentation. On April 25 from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. there will be a Grand Entries Competition Pow Wow
When the Native American Cultural Awareness Club was created it was done so to provide an awareness and sensitivity to Native American Indian culture and people. This is the club where the member will attend activities that will help them learn more about their culture. It is also the means where the members can see how their ancestors lived and compare it with how thing are right now.
Native American or not Native American can join the club just as long as you are a student of the all Minot State University. The club holds a have bi-weekly club meetings during the school year at room 305 in the Student Center. Students and members are encouraged to join the meetings.
An Indian fry bread and taco sales are some of the food fund raising that the club holds. There are also raffles draws like the Native Specific Cultural Items features Star Quilts, beaded moccasins, etc. The proceeds of these activities are to help fund the Honor Dance and Pow Wow wich is usually held around April during the Spring Semester.
For this year the 20th Annual Honor Dance and Spring Celebration will be held at the 500 University Ave W, Minot, ND, Zip ” 58707. The festival will not only be selling native crafts and arts but there will also be a Womens Jingle Dress Special. This event is a Cassie Rensch Memorial Special. Vendors are invited to attend the event, there will be a space fee of $100.00.
