Pixar’s WALL-E
Pixar has an outstanding track record when it comes to their animated films. Looking back over the course of the last 15 years or so, since the first toy Story movie hit theaters, I cant think of a miss. They have continued to pump out hit after hit. Some of the movies were better than others, The Incredibles was incredible and Toy Story 2 was very good, but there is not a bad movie in the bunch.
The movies appeal to young and old alike. Children get excited to go see them and parents don’t mind having to follow. The concepts are to the point and the dialog is enjoyable. They appeal to all types of consumers without coming over as patronizing. Not only has there style not slowed down, it has gotten better and better with each film. WALL-E is the perfect example of this.
WALL-E is the story of a small robot that is charged with cleaning up a polluted world for a bunch of consumer hungry people that nearly destroyed it. While these people float around in space, he has to clean up the planet. The little robot goes about his business, day after day and year after year until an unlikely visitor appears.
I will not say to much, for those that have not seen the movie, but WALL-E gets very over joyed at the chance to make a new friend. The first half of the movie consists of no dialogue as the visitor and WALL-E begin to bond. One would think that the lack of dialogue would make a child, or adult lose attention, but this is not so. The action and animation make this the best part of the movie. The introduction to the humans and the pollution issue is also a great part of the movie, as the topic was handled in an understandable and fun way.
The DVD and Blu-Ray are full of extras from behind the scenes to previews for upcoming projects. Most people never even look at the extras, however Pixar always seems to have something to appeal to everybody.
