Twilight – The Most Anticipated Release of the Year
Twilight puts a whole new generational spin to the vampire genre. The vampires are still sexy, dangerous and live forever, like most vampire books and movies, however it is done in a new age sort of way. It handles the principle vampire theme – eternal love, in a exciting, edge of your seat, format.
Another refreshing aspect of Twilight is the fact that it doesn’t rely on big name cast members to draw. The popularity of this movie rests solely on the slim shoulders of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. In Twilight, Bella (played by Kristen Stewart) goes to live with her father in a small, overcast town in Washington State. Like her life before with her mother in Arizona, Bella really doesn’t feel like she belongs until she runs into Edward (played by Robert Pattinson). Edward and his siblings don’t quite fit in either, and he seems to have quite a chip on his shoulder until Bella figures out his hidden secret, and exposes his reluctance for a noble attempt at protecting those around him including his family.
In Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke manages to create an illusion of modern day darkness and gloom with a shimmer of light and goodness in an often scary world. It is a hopeful and beautiful tale of teenage angst and love combined with family values in an unusual format for that prospective.
Based on the best-selling book of the same name written by Stephenie Meyer the movie is a very true to novel screenplay that brings the characters to life and creates a chillingly romantic atmosphere. The effects brought to life in the book translate well to film complete with some new vampire twists like sparkling skin (and we always thought vampires were allergic to sunlight, when in fact it just makes them awesomely beautiful, although it would also definitely make them stand out from the crowd).
There is plenty of humor that lightens the mood just enough to keep it fun without making it seem forced. The entire cast does a great job creating imaginative characters whom truly support the lead actors. Twilight is perfect for any enthusiast of vampire romances, or any who enjoys exciting moves, with a little vampire fight action.
