Why You NEED Live In London
Leonard Cohen, the 74 year old sing/songwriter is at the top of his game right now. He keeps the audience with him and sells out concerts.
He is poised and amazing and two hours at his concert just doesn’t seem like enough to his fans. He continues to please his followers that have been with him over the years and still seems to acculmulate more and more.
His DVD captures the amazement of his style and poise. His works offer up human experiences that he has gone through and also reach out and touch all of his fans on a more personal level.
Cohen has had a great group of artists working around him over the years. Not only have his changing vocals been a positive attribute to his works, but others like Dino Soldo adds to songs like Ain’t No Cure For Love.
Through it all Cohen remains the stillpoint of this performance. Tender renditions of Sisters of Mercy and Suzanne stand side-by-side with portentous versions of The Future and the cynical Democracy. Cohens signature Hallelujah triumphs over any cover. Smooth camera work and unobtrusive editing shepherds the viewer through it all, with crisp audio allowing Cohen (and his bandmates) room to shine, while DVD extras, like clickable liner notes, allow a peek into the depth of Cohens lyricism. The perfect edition to any Cohen fans collection, Leonard Cohen: Live in London shows a legend at his best.
