All about Eve: Brilliantly advanced (and skeptical) look at life in and around the show, with a mecca script by director Mankiewicz (based on the tale “The Knowledge of Eve” by Mary Orr). Cast includes Bette Davis, Anne Baxter, George Sanders, Celeste Holm, Gary Merrill, Thelma Ritter, Marilyn Monroe, Hugh Marlowe, and Gregory Ratoff. (138 minutes, 1950)

The Return of Bob Dylan

by Patrick Daniels

Dylan’s third self released album in a row, shows that he is still an outstanding force in the music industry. Together Through Life features Dylan, backed up by his band, and ten tracks with a range of blues and soul. His unique style and voice is evident in ever song.

Since 2006′s Modern Times, this is Dylan’s first release, and it was worth the wait for many fans. From the first track, to the last Dylan exhibits why he remains one of the most powerful artists today.

Together Through Life differs subtly from previous Dylan releases in a few ways. The main one is that this effort almost feels like something that was quickly slapped together and thrown on a CD. However, it is also apparent that this was Dylan’s intention; he wanted to come off with an almost live music sound, and he succeeds marvelously in doing so. Beyond that, fans will find familiar territory in most of the music here, but it is no less impressive nonetheless.

Much of the album follows classic blues and soul numbers, the oldest influence being “Forgetful Heart”, which is inspired by a 1679 opus called “A Treatise of the Fear of God”. His other inspiration from the oldest book around; The Bible and its Old Testament.

Together Through Life is a worthwhile CD to listen to for fans or first time listeners. Bob Dylan is a true living legend that continues to deliver after all these years.

Fallout 3 – Top of the Gaming World

by Patrick Daniels

Fallout 3, has become the blockbuster game everyone expected. But why has it gotten this much attention? Is it as good as they say? Well, it depends on the type of games you like to play.

If you are one who enjoys RPGs and adventure games with lots of open world choices and wandering around, then this is the right game choice for you. It also a lot of action and consequences for the choices that you are forced to make.

The thing that puts this game above Oblivion, made by the same makers, is that this one has a story that more people can get into. Although the game play and graphics of the Oblivion games were exceptional, the story left many disappointed.

The Oblivion game had just enough to keep me going, but it wasn’t overly engaging and was a bit of a disappointment in that area. Luckily, Fallout has fixed that problem and improved in my opinion in all of the other categories, from leveling up to game progression. There are so many hidden areas and hidden places to find with a ton of side quests to take, this game will have you playing for weeks and weeks.

This game beats its predecessors by a big margin and took the series in a bold new direction that any fan of the series should be happy to partake in. The only thing that I can say is a bit of a letdown for me is the targeting system is a little clunky and the landscape and areas are all a little too similar. I know that its a post apocalyptic landscape, and that there is not much to choose from once it is all reduced to rubble, but it is a minor complaint for such a good game.

Wii’s Getting the “Rock Band 2″gether Again

by Patrick Daniels

In the original Rock Band game, Harmonix wowed millions by taking the concept originally started by Guitar Hero and expanding it to include drum sets and vocals – a true band simulating experience. With Rock Band 2 for the Wii, the game is brought to a whole new level and is sure to lure in more fans than ever before. With increasingly customizable features and excellent online integration, Rock Band II for the Wii should please just about anyone who is looking to rock out like a real star – all from the comfort of their own home.

Rock Band II allows users to customize characters for the band. These characters can be custom out of various designs for hair styles and colors, skin tones, facial features, tattoos and more.

The customization expands beyond the physical characteristics of the characters on Rock Band II, though. As a player progresses through the different levels of game play, they earn money that can be used to purchase better and better equipment for their band. Unlike the last release, where the only benefit to advancing through levels was to unlock more songs, there is much more incentive in this game to do well.

Rock Band II has eighty preloaded songs for players to choose from. The selection extremely diverse, ranging from “Eye Of The Tiger” to “Spirit In The Sky”. Some modern releases include At The Disco and System Of A Down are also included. Additionally, new releases can be purchased for Rock Band II via the Wii’s wireless Internet connection.

The downloading feature keep the game new and fresh, no matter how long you have been playing. New songs are added to the list very often, always giving you something new to look forward to.

Finally, Rock Band II allows players to receive a code for their band. By inputting this code on the Rock Band 2 website, players can create additional online content for their band. They can even order t-shirts and bumper stickers featuring the band that they created in Rock Band II; now that is interactivity at its finest.

Want To Watch Dance Flick Online For Free?

by Jack Simmons

If you enjoy dance flicks and comedies, but have never seen a comedy dance flick before, then you’ve got something coming! There’s a new comedy movie coming out that is very appropriately called Dance Flick. The Wayans brothers are responsible for this one. They’re the guys that also brought us Scary Movie.

The story in this movie is about two people that love to dance. The first one is Thomas Uncles, a black guy from the wrong side of the tracks. The second one is Megan White, a white girl who’s got clumsy dance moves. As a matter of fact, they’re so clumsy that she ends up hitting everybody who’s standing next to her.

Because Thomas and Megan are now hanging out with each other so often and following their passion together, they start having some feelings of passion for each other. On many occasions, they try to kiss each other, only to have their intimate moment interrupted by somebody walking in or walking by.

Thomas and Megan get a lot of practice. After much training, they enter the king of all dancing contests. If you want to know how that ends, you’d better go see the movie yourself. I won’t spoil it here. This movie successfully parodies the dance movie genre, including Step Up, You Got Served and also the classic dance movie Flashdance.

I’m looking forward to watch Dance Flick online. I’ve watched many Wayans brothers movies already and they always make me laugh. I loved White Chicks and Scary Movie too. This film has Damon Wayans Jr., Craig Wayans and Shoshana Bush in it. It’s a really nice cast and I think they’ve got real chemistry going on.

This Paramount picture is coming out on May 22nd, 2009. It’s directed by Damien Dante Wayans, himself a Wayans brother. This movie has a PG13 rating because it has crude content all throughout the movie. There are also plenty of sexually suggestive remarks. In other words, go see it!

Is Court Reporting a Dying Profession?

by A Nutt

The role of a court reporter is to maintain an accurate record of word for word transcripts of conversations, legal proceedings, meetings, and other circumstances requiring a documented account that will serve as legally binding evidence. Court reporters can be found working at court trials, providing translation services for the hearing impaired, assisting judges, recording depositions, and assisting attorneys. With the emergence of new advancements in technology, many people have thought that careers in court reporting were diminishing. Fortunately, this is not the case. Court reporters have adapted to the technology and are now in great demand.

Real-time stenographic court reporters are viewed as the only reliable and accurate way for providing instant voice-to-text translation. The demand for reporters is not just in the legal field. The experienced real-time stenographic reporter has learned to use the most current computer hardware and software in order to provide accurate and consistent transcripts. The stenographic reporters’ ability to transfer spoken words to readable text instantly has made them a valuable asset for deaf people. You will find them in classrooms and other learning environments translating spoken language into legible text. This service is known as Communication Access Real-time Translation, or CART. Other areas that you will find CART providers include businesses, social settings such as churches, medical clinics, government institutions, and much more. Requests for real-time reporting for broadcast captioning and communication access has also increased.

Many court reporting agencies have found it difficult to fill positions because the demand is so great for work in depositions and court trials. For attorneys, real-time reporters provide indispensable assistance with trial preparation. The real-time reporter can provide information in a digital format which allows the lawyers to look up information quickly. More lawyers are now making use of online legal databases as a method of quickly acquiring information. Attorneys make use of easy to access information for searching depositions, preliminary hearings, discovery summaries, trial briefs, and other related legal documents.

In the computer-integrated courtroom, or CIC, the new technology has reduced court delays by providing faster transcript turnaround time. Trials run smoother and more quickly, and judges and attorneys, are much more efficient and effective with their time. The professional reporter can now improve the courtroom experience making them a valuable asset of the legal community

The court reporter is a key component to making the new technology run more effectively. It is often the reporters job to maintain technological systems such as the legal support software, troubleshooting computer problems, and monitoring the process.

The court reporting industry has adapted to the many technological changes. Much of the recognition goes to the profession’s inventive approach to locating and learning new applications. The use of new and innovative technology has not only created new areas of proficiency, but it has opened the doors for many new people who want a career as a court reporter. It has also expanded the services that a court reporter can provide.

The duties of a court reporter have reached another level as a result of implementing wireless computer technologies in the workplace. The reporter is now able to provide quicker services wherever it is needed in the courthouse or particular organisation. This has improved the flexibility with which real-time court reporter can operate. In many instances, they can send a draft to a proofreader even while a legal proceeding is in session.

Court Reporters can offer improved services to their clients or enter entirely new areas of practice. For those interested in obtaining a job in the field of court reporting, there are many possibilities of finding a rich and rewarding career.

Check out Leonard Cohen’s Live Album

by Patrick Daniels

While Leonard Cohen isn’t the greatest singer on Earth, he does have a uniqueness to him that captivates the audience. He also seems to be a jack of all trades seeing that not only is he a singer and songwriter he was a poet and part time Buddhist monk.

“Leonard Cohen ” Live in London” finds the 74 year old Canadian wordsmith in full throws of his orchestrated personal pain. Somehow, although he tends to talk only about his own problems, Cohen is able to communicate the feelings of almost every listener’s deep-buried emotions, as well. This masterful delivery at London’s O2 Arena was his first major live tour in fifteen years. This double CD live performance also includes in-between song chat and banter, which is usually cut from live albums. The CD is also full of pictures in case you dont want to splurge on the DVD which, although visual, doesnt necessarily give you a better sound than the CD. The CD also contains lyrics for all 26 songs.

His album is a mix of both old and new songs, however getting a hold of his live material, unlike his studio CD’s can be a little bit harder. Usually the live tracks are placed at the end of an album or on side B.

“The definitive live version” is what some of Cohen’s internet based fans have been calling some of his songs. The quality of sound is wonderful on his ‘Live in London’ album.

With all of the greatest backing him up, you can see why Leonard Cohen’s ‘Live in London’ is so great. Bob Meztger, Roscoe Beck, Neil Larson, Rafael Bernardo just to name a few are the ones that help this concert go so smoothly.

Orange Box – The Best Five Games In One Complete Package

by Patrick Daniels

The Orange Box includes so many games it feels like a steal. Games include Half-Life 2, Portal, Half-Life: Episode one and two, and Team Fortress 2.

Half-Life 2, one of the best FPS games of all time, continues it’s success and storyline with Episode 1 and 2. The newest game, Portal, has a unique story and game process that is mind boggling and fun. It has be receiving great reviews and has made on many game of the year lists.

Team Fortress, a multi player game, is a basic one, however it has unique weapons and great action. Portal, one of my favorites, and It caught me by surprise. Normally when purchasing a compilation disc, you can expect never to play , at least, one game. With The Orange Back, I can guarantee every game will be utilized.

Any of these games could stand on their own and would make for a great experience. This game, especially at the low price point you can pick it up for now, should be in everyones collection. There is no reason to miss this one, it is a great time suck and is better than most of the new games being released right now.

There are no more excuses not to buy this game; it is probably the best twenty dollars that your gaming money could be spent on right now. The multi player can be played online or split screen with a friend, which makes it feel old-school and really fun.
