The Return of Bob Dylan
Dylan’s third self released album in a row, shows that he is still an outstanding force in the music industry. Together Through Life features Dylan, backed up by his band, and ten tracks with a range of blues and soul. His unique style and voice is evident in ever song.
Since 2006′s Modern Times, this is Dylan’s first release, and it was worth the wait for many fans. From the first track, to the last Dylan exhibits why he remains one of the most powerful artists today.
Together Through Life differs subtly from previous Dylan releases in a few ways. The main one is that this effort almost feels like something that was quickly slapped together and thrown on a CD. However, it is also apparent that this was Dylan’s intention; he wanted to come off with an almost live music sound, and he succeeds marvelously in doing so. Beyond that, fans will find familiar territory in most of the music here, but it is no less impressive nonetheless.
Much of the album follows classic blues and soul numbers, the oldest influence being “Forgetful Heart”, which is inspired by a 1679 opus called “A Treatise of the Fear of God”. His other inspiration from the oldest book around; The Bible and its Old Testament.
Together Through Life is a worthwhile CD to listen to for fans or first time listeners. Bob Dylan is a true living legend that continues to deliver after all these years.
