Having a garden of roses is a fun way to not only spend your time doing fun gardening work, but also to save money when the flower-giving seasons come around. If you are going to keep your roses looking their best, you will need to protect them against several types of disease that they are susceptible to.

One of the most common forms of infection to a rose is a fungus. Fungus can come in different forms, but you will often see that it presents itself as black spots on the leaves of the rose plant. These spots are usually found on leaves that seem to have been discolored a bit. At this point you will need to prune any infected leaves from the flower, and make very certain that the leaves are cleared from the base of the rose.

If you spot a black leaf at the base of your rose, or currently on your rose, this isn’t always just the natural decay of the rose itself. It could indeed be a disease known as rust, which is characterized by its red and orange blisters that are found on the leaves. This disease can be critical since it interferes with the ability of the rose to complete the process of photosynthesis.

Spiders are a common garden creature that actually safeguards your roses from other insects that would devour the leaves and blooms. Spiders aren’t always a blessing, as some tiny spiders have been known to feed on leaves themselves and weaken the rose plant. A poison safe to roses would be a good course of action in this case to prevent further harm.

Believe it or not, your roses can obtain mildew. If you find a light-colored powdery substance all around your rose, odds are you have a mildew problem on your hands. Leaves may also curl at this point, turn purple, and ultimately fall off the plant as it decays. Treat this problem quickly, since it can spread to other roses and critically injure the plants. Anti-fungus sprays will work in this instance.

You shouldn’t obtain the medicine and fixes your rose will need if harmed after it has become infected. If you are serious about the care of your rose, go to your local gardening center and obtain several different types of sprays friendly to your plants to treat any threats as they become apparent. Tori Amos took the world by storm with her 1992 Atlantic debut, Little Earthquakes. Deeply provocative and shockingly personal lyrics sung over hypnotic and endearing piano melodies proved to be the forte of the red-haired piano rock goddess. Over the years she has experimented in various genres and increased her devoted fanbase tenfold. Seventeen years later, Amos returns with her tenth album (and her first release with Universal Republic Records,) Abnormally Attracted To Sin.

The album opener, “Give,” is a lush electro-rock romp that sounds like a stand-out track from any Portishead record. Amos growls the lyrics, which are rich in blood-and-love imagery, over dark synths and electronic drums. The chorus turns the entire song over, turning into a soaring aria that gives the track Amos’ trademark stamp. The first single, “Welcome to England,” is a song written in the typical Amos fashion, with piano riffs playing along with electric guitars and lush synthy bits. “Strong Black Vine” is pure orchestral rock, featuring Amos jamming on the organ while stings play and she sings in impressive harmonies about saving a boy from “that evil faith.” The next tune, “Flavor,” would do just fine as a second single. With a soothing electronic drumloop and a delicate auto-tune complimenting Amos’ gorgeous vocals, the song focuses on the mysterious intangible force of love. “Not Dying Today” turns the mood to strong-willed and upbeat, with happy drums and lots of guitars roaring all over the place; Amos seems at home here and her good spirits translate into her vocals seamlessly.

Track number six, “Maybe California,” is a typical Amos ballad with soft instrumentation, a lovely piano melody, and gorgeous strings. “Curtain Call” is one of the best tracks Amos has ever written; it is dark and atmospheric and powerful. Beginning with thunderstorm samples, once the intricate piano melody and moving drums kick in, the reader is launched into a haunting tale of drugs and sex and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities gone missing. “Right on cue, just act surprised as they invite you to take your curtain call,” she sings. “Fire To Your Plain” is a short and sensual number with retro synths and a trip-hop drumbeat. “Police Me” is gloriously all over the place, with plenty of electronica touches, synth riffs, and electric guitars. “That Guy” could quite possibly be passed off as an unreleased James Bond theme song, complete with lush strings and soaring vocals; this track would fit in just about anywhere on Broadway, but until then it works just fine on this disc. “Abnormally Attracted To Sin” is a standout track here, with lots of glam rock guitar riffs and a killer bass line. The electronica-rich chorus is lush and ambient, like underground club music from space. “500 Miles” is a catchy pop tune with a 60′s vibe; it works perfectly as a road trip song and the electric guitar-rich outro is achingly beautiful. “Mary Jane” is the sole piano-only number on the disc and the lyrics are clever and definitely tongue-in-cheek, focusing on a teenage boy that wants to spend some time with a certain illegal herb.

Some of her songs place her vocals so you can hear them well and others are a little more off track. One of her newer tracks, “Lady in Blue” is dreamy and jazzy and just gives out that calm vibe to her fans and her audience. Many of these songs are great for people looking for a little bit of comfort and soothing.

Although sonically Abnormally Attracted To Sin is all over the place, the beauty lies therein. Each track is completely hand-crafted and the vocals and instrumentation are lush and powerful, like a last minute conversation at three o’clock in the morning before a dear friend takes a flight back halfway across the globe. Although it is much more polished than her debut, Amos proves that even with a lot of glitter and sheen (or, in this case, synths and electronica touches) she can put out an album that has just as much heart as an intimate confession in a notebook.

Handheld video games have changed immensely since the original Game Boy. Today, Nintendo is still the top handheld game of choice, but it has now release, yet again, another version; Nintendo DSi. Nintendo fans will just go crazy over all the new and exciting features.

The DSi has the same familiar features, for DS fans, such as the durable outer shell, which protects it from abuse and the dual screens, with creates a greater playing experience.

The Nintendo DSi, though, does boast a good deal of compelling new features that will thrill long time fans – and draw in many new ones. Largely in response to the long time features offered by its rival – the Sony PSP – Nintendo has equipped the DSi with excellent wireless capabilities. Anywhere where there is a WiFi “hot spot”, DSi users can connect to the Internet with their slick new device.

While the DSi features two screens – one of them a touchscreen – like earlier versions, the ones on this device are larger, allowing for clearer and more engaging graphics. It also facilitates another one of the biggest changes in this new console – it has two separate cameras for users to enjoy. One is located on the hinge and faces the user; the other is on the outer shell. The DSi can be used to take pictures which can then be stored on SD cards which can be inserted in the convenient slots located on the back.

Much like the Nintendo Wii, DSi users can log on to a “DS Shop” to purchase games and other items. This feature allows players to install updates for existing games, purchase no games and utilize various applications. It is a feature that fans have been eagerly awaiting, and have not been disappointed. The DSi, now gives Nintendo the most robust handheld system anywhere.

When I received the Novel “Iron Horse Rider” from the Author Adelle “Legs” Laudan I have to admit I was expecting a book about a Biker fighting and causing trouble. You know your Typical Biker Bad Boy Story.

What I received was something I was not expecting at all. The Novel Tells the story of a hardcore biker named Shane, Shane had always kept women at arms length and showed them no emotion, That was until he met Kelly. Try as he might this biker who had always kept to himself could not fight off his feelings for her and soon found himself Married to the Women of his dreams.

After 10 years of Marriage Kelly is taken from Shane in a Tragic accident while they are Ridding. Shane finds everything around him reminds him of Kelly, His home, his shop, even his Clubhouse. His Brother’s try to Support and comfort him, but the looks of sorrow in their eyes for him is more then Shane can bare. He soon realizes staying in the world He has Known and loved is not an option. Soon Shane is on his Iron Horse with the wind in his face and no destination! As Shane rides He finds the pain he feels for his loss begin to lessen!

With advice from a Mysterious Biker he keeps running into, Shane finds himself at a Micmac Indian Camp. Shane is welcomed into the Camp by the Tribes Chief and soon finds himself becoming Friends with the Chief’s Daughter Tia who has recently lost her Husband! While the two Share their pain they soon begin to feel something for each other. Is it possible for either of them to feel love again while still suffering from such a great loss? A member of Tia’s Tribe is taking no chances and tells Shane to stay away from Tia. He soon finds out you never tell a Biker like Shane what to do!

I found the writing in this novel while in no way simplistic was easy to read. I also found the story easy to follow ! Adelle “Legs” Laudan describes and expresses the feelings of Biker Brotherhood perfectly. When She explains Shane’s feelings while Riding you can see in your mind where he is and you can almost feel the wind in your Face!In life we all have our worlds we live in, When something Terrible happens sometimes We cling to what We know. Shane does what He as a true Biker must after such a terrible loss, He goes out and finds not only a new life but a new World to live in for a while.

I have to say I enjoyed the story. It was not what I was expecting or would usually read but I found I could not put the book down. I think some Men who Ride will enjoy this book, While many I feel will find it a little too much of a Romance novel! I do believe almost every Women who has ever ridden a Motorcycle or dated a Man who rode one will love this Novel.

Maya Phoenix and Akin Phoenix will be the facilitator for this workshop. The admission fee will come in a form of donation, donation are greatly accepted. In this day and age there are so many crafts to choose from, we love canvas art, or you only need to look at a few abstract paintings to realise this. Yet, herbs too, are ever increasingly sold in our supermarkets, garden centres etc.

I for myself love the unique aromas that newly picked, scented flowers along with herbs provide. It is too quite possible that if you have a garden, you may already have some of the items that I am going to be writing about.

Consequently, you will soon be aware that these can be used for all sorts of things, including health issues! To begin with let’s run through a few ideas! As an example, my grandmother made little bags which contained herbs used for putting in her wardrobe, actually on her wardrobe door. The reason being, she thought that this would keep away the moths.

So, how did she make these up? As soon as she had finished a small bag, she would stuff it including lavender, sage, thyme, mint, caraway seeds with one or two cloves. Subsequently she would use up a bit of fine ribbon, tape or twine, to consequently wrap it encircling the neck of the bag once, then go round once more and knot it. Then, with the two strings, she would make a loop to hang it by.

This really is the same idea as using lavender bags between your sheets and pillowcases in your storage cupboards, or in drawers, to keep them sweet-smelling.

Herbs are often used on the verge of a cold, when it is beneficial if you have a bag under your pillow. Ideal for this scenario would be a bag filled with camomile, mint, dry lemon peel and some eucalyptus leaves. Obviously you can change the bags with assorted contents. However, if you would prefer a more spicy aroma, you would need to contain some cinnamon, caraway along with coriander to your bag. A rather lovely idea perhaps, is to put herbs actually in your pillows or scatter cushions, so that you can recognize the value of their fragrances when you are exhausted. They can give you a boost, or, alternatively they might send you to sleep!

Which herbs and flowers are good for drying? My answer to this would have to be mint, oregano, eucalyptus, thyme, lavender, bay leaves and rosemary. I would include some leaves too to add a bit more bulk, or at times maybe scented geraniums.

What with reference to drying the herbs, what is the best method to go about it? Actually, you require a rack of some type to do this. An oven rack would carry out the job quite well. You could, I believe, put a small piece of hessian over the framework. Now just place the flowers, leaves, stalks etc. all on the frame. Otherwise I have seen people bind herbs in bunches like lavender and suspend them wrong way up. I have seen my grandmother perform this many a time!

When you have completed this, you need to have them anywhere where the air can reach them. Not just that, you need to be able to turn them over every couple of days. When they are, in point of fact, dry, you can store them in a basket until you intend to make use of them.
