Rogues are a strange class in WoW. Most people either love to play as a Rogue, or absolutely hate Rogues. They are great characters for PvP’s and Dueling as they are incredibly illusive. If you have ever fought a battle against Rogue, you’ll know they can be a real handful.

Rogues are melee classes and they largely depend on their skill at avoiding hits than fighting head on. Rogues should always keep a close watch on agro meters as if a Rogue gets the attention of a boss, it’ll be killed in a heartbeat.

Successful Rogue leveling is built around having a good knowledge of the class.

1.) You’re not a power-killer!

You must realize from the very beginning that you are not designed to take a mob head on. That kind of tactic is fine at lower levels where your massive DPS output can kill the opponent before they can do enough damage to kill you, but when you start getting up into the higher levels you simply cannot do this because mobs simply hit too hard.

2.) Keep an Eye on Agro Meters

Rogues kill bosses by keeping a close watch on agro meters not by giving massive blows. Remember this – it is critical to your success.

3.) Rogues best defense is to avoid hits.

Rogues should work on agility. The more agility a Rogue has, the more dodge ability it will have – and this means you’ll be less likely to get hit.

4.) Optimize your equipment

Something that is applicable to all classes in World of Warcraft is that they should maximize the damage they do during battle. To do this, always ensure you have the best equipment possible.

The best equipment for a rogue should give you high levels of Agility, Attack Power, Haste, and Critical Strike. Of these four attributes, agility is the most important. Pick your equipment with this in mind.

5.) Lockdown

A highly effective way to kill opponents is by locking them down. If fighting 2 enemies at the same time, first sap one and then work on killing the other using gouging and other abilities. Next repeat this process to destroy enemy number 2.

When you are leveling as a Rogue, remember you are not a tank, in groups keep an eye on the agro meter, keep your agility as high as you can, maximize your equipment and learn to lockdown your opponents. If you master these simple steps then your leveling should be much easier.
