Throughout its history, heavy metal has done well to avoid pretense. Bands sung about topics like slaying dragons, chasing women, and partying. Then, at some point during the 1990s, the cancer of nu metal started to metastasize in the heavy metal genre. Bands started singing about relationships and their feelings in an effort to gain mainstream popularity. Fortunately, the cancerous tumor in the body of heavy metal is now in remission and the tide is turning back. Mopey lyrics and wimpy riffs are giving way to thundering power chords and lyrical brutality. Among the bands bringing forth a ‘nu metal’ backlash is Swedish Viking metal band Amon Amarth. As the name implies, bands from the Viking metal genre sing about subjects of interest to vikings such as sailing, lusting for adventure and conquest, furious winds and treacherous seas.

Amon Amarth took their name from a location in J.R.R. Tolkiens Middle Earth, and their name means Mount Doom in the Elvish language of Sindarin. Drawing musical inspiration from bands such as Bolt Thrower and their Viking metal predecessors Bathory and Enslaved, who in turn took their cue from the great American band Manowar, Amon Amarth plays their own unique style of melodic death metal. While they are hesitant to identify themselves as Viking metal, they take most of their lyrical content from Viking history and Norse mythology.

2004s Fate of Norns and 2006s With Oden On Our Side earned the band considerable popularity all over the world, including North America where they have toured several times as a headline act.

Amon Amarth recently extended their deal with Metal Blade records and released their latest album in September 2008 called ‘Twilight of the Thunder God’. The album continues their thematic examination of their Viking ancestors, and has become their biggest seller to date.

Heavy metal is gaining strength and resuming its powerful greatness under the marauding sound of Amon Amarth. The band tours constantly, so dont miss their brutal onslaught when they come to a town near you.

I love shopping at Farmers Markets where the produces are fresh and the fruits and vegetables are in season. Farmers markets are places where you can buy your goods at extremely lower prices, totaling to almost 50% mark down compared to grocery and shopping mall prices. Going to farmers markets also gives me a keen sense of consumerism pride as I am able to get the best commodities at relatively lower price.

Farmers markets are town bazaars, stalls are usually set up outdoors. Farmers Markets are open only on weekends and mostly held half day, so you really have to wake up early to have the best of the best and fresh picks. Patrons are usually familiar with the farmers in farmers market, here they get to meet and greet with their trusted farmers and start purchasing their goods. Farmers market are like the usual authentic Palenque , consumers are allowed to bargain for the product prices. What makes Farmers Markets different is that it offers free sampling and tasting, that way patrons won’t be cheated on the quality.

A Farm and Art market is happening at Arkansas this weekend. It is a quaint combination actually, fruits/veggies and arts. I really cannot see the combination aside from the fact that this weekend’s farmers market is going to be a cooler and more exciting one. Artists from the locality and the nearby towns will flock the event to sell and showcase their craftsmanship to the buyers. Loads of talents and skills will definitely be seen this weekend.

Basic art materials and tools would be made available during the celebration. There will also be tons of interesting activities such as, on the spot face charcoal painting for the audience and shoppers who would love to see their portrait on canvas. Toddler is the second stage of a human’s life; it is the stage where a person learns to walk and interact with other people. It is also the stage between infancy and childhood. Toddler is the stage that triggers lot of curiosity; it is the stage where a child could distinguish what they want. Toddling usually starts between 12 to 24 months. During this stage, a child learns great deals about social role and develops motor skills.

Talking is the next milestone, parents are most typically aware of. At the age of 12 months an average toddler can already say their first word. A child will start adding word until around 18th months when languages increase rapidly. A child may learn 7-9 words per day.

There are many other things that a child undergo and learn during this stage. Most parents may not notice, but the simple action of pointing out on what the kids want is already a sign of big psychological gain. Also during toddler stage, a child begins to learn self awareness. They begin to distinguish him or her as a separate physical being.

Toddler storytime is a program designed for toddlers and their caregivers. Storytime is a fun time for parents to introduce books to their kids. There are many ways to celebrate weekends with a bang. It can be a trip to the park, a dinner at some upscale restaurant or a weekend concert. At Coralville, an exciting weekend affair is brewing- it is again time for the annual Music in the Park.

The event is also an ideal time for other band members to reunite and meet and greet in one roof. Iowa is a state brimming with talents and awesome events. This year’s affair is indeed another great offering from the fresh local talents of Coralville. Spectators and music enthusiasts from Coralville and nearby towns are expected to gather and attend this exciting event. Wanna listen to your favorite song? The bands can sing your chosen song for you because of the newest song request offering at the event.

It is indeed pleasant to see such young kids dedicated to mastering their chosen craft- while having fun and obviously staying out of bad influences. Attendees of the event are mostly high school kids who simply want to have a great time. They are often seen in the previous year’s carrying their guitars and musical instruments to sign up for the show.

Green speakers will also be invited to give privilege speeches and seminars to the attendees during intermission parts. The park will be awesomely decorated for this year carrying the theme: “Green is IN”. Organizers will make use of every “green” and eco-friendly” design elements they can find in order to keep up with this year’s theme.

Center Valley has a unique offering for all its residents this year. It is once again time to bond and gather together for the Green Show Affair! The Green show Affair is an annual event that caters for the promotion of Earth Day and environmental care and significance. Green Show this year has several unique offerings that would not only excite the spectators but contribute more to their advocacies as well. 2009 is indeed the year where the Earth Day celebrations are more visible and more people are focused in making the event a success.

The Green Shows includes a lot of offerings and one of them is the Green Music Nights. This event features local bands and artists of the music scene of Center Valley, all gathered to share their talents and join in the festivity. These bands are not just any band but those who are personally handpicked by the organizers because of their unique contributions to the environment. They will sing their newest records which include Song of the Environment and taking care of Mother Earth.

The event will also feature several talented artists that will share their talents in the field of Fine Arts. In the event, galleries will be put up in different medium such as watercolor, acrylic and oil- all artworks depicting planet care.

Kids have a place to for the Green Show. They can attend the free art classes and partake in the instructors’ lessons on making great looking artworks. Moms and Dads will gain a lot of knowledge by attending the “Green is IN” seminar which features healthy options of living green within the family. The art of making handcrafted pieces may be rewarding for some people. However, it is also true that to make wonderful work, you have to devote a whole lot of time and effort in your work. There are a lot of aspiring craftspeople that won’t get to a great level. But nothing to worry about; this is mostly due to a lack of devotion to your work, not lack of creativity, as all people have the ability to create and be creative.

I’ve met a lot of impressive artisans that have started honing their talents from a very young age. Now, I’m not trying to bring down some of the older ones who are just beginning to try it, but I’m just saying it’s a good idea to inspire your children from their early years. Some of these crafts, of course, involve the use of dangerous bladed, serrated or pointed tools, so you should always be around to provide help.

The best way to engage your child when trying on crafts making is to do some yourself. By working with them side-by-side, you are able to bond with them as well. Any parent would love to spend more time with their children, and this is a surefire way to do it.

Once you notice how your child is improving, and getting more self-confident, you may want to show off his or her works at a craft fair. There are a lot of events all year round, all over the country. Just make sure you go into a non-juried show first, to build up your child’s credibility and confidence.

What do I mean by non-jury? The simple gist is this; in a non-juried craft show, all you have to do is secure a booth and then spend the day showing off your (or in this case, your child’s) crafts. In a juried show, on the other hand, you have to submit a profile of your existing works, and a jury will decide if you’ll be able to go into the limited slots of booths or not. So, obviously, one should start at a non-juried show first.
