Why you should upgrade to Broadband for Downloading Music
Many people find themselves wondering if it is absolutely essential to have a broadband connection to download music. While it is not impossible to download music without a broadband connection the most common answer would be yes. This is because broadband is capable of delivering greater bandwidth.
There is simply no denying the truth. Downloading music without a broadband connection is a difficult process. Getting music with broadband is really the only effective way of downloading music.
Many people who are on dialup may wonder why they would want to upgrade to broadband. Obviously it costs more money and for some this can be a deterrent. One of the biggest and oldest advantages to broadband is that unlike dialup service it does not tie up your phone line while it is in use and it requires no dialing out to get a connection.
Another advantage to broadband is the level of consistency with it. Unlike dialup connections broadband rarely goes down. Much of this is related to the fact that a broadband internet connection works in many ways like a traditional local area network which means it has less things that can go wrong.
Some people even wonder why broadband is so much faster than a traditional dialup service. There are several reasons this is true. The biggest reason is that government regulations prevent dialup modems from working at speeds higher than 56Kbps to prevent problems on the line. DSL is capable of working on phone lines at higher speeds because it works on a different frequency so no regulations affect it. It also is capable of higher speeds because the DSL routing stations have to be within 1.5 miles of the home using the DSL connection. Dialup at times may have to connect to routing stations that are many miles away.
Broadband connections, unlike dialup connections, are capable of reaching extremely high speeds. Lower end broadband connections can easily surpass 650Kbps. Many of the newer connections are capable of reaching speeds of 1-4Mbps. There are even some areas of the world where broadband connections of 64Mbps are available.
There really is no reason that it would be preferable to download music on a dialup connection instead of using a broadband connection. The biggest reason for this is how long it will take to download a music file. A standard sized music file is around 4MB and this will take as long as 10 minutes on a dialup connection. On a lower end broadband connection this same file could be downloaded in less than 1 minute and some of the higher end ones are capable of getting the file in under 10 seconds. This means you get more music faster.
The simple truth is that there is a ton of music available for download. Trying to download this music on a dialup connection is a tedious and long process and in many cases the download may stop or the internet connection may die before the download has even completed. Using broadband connection is a great way to ensure that you get the music you want in a timely and efficient manner.
