It’s of utmost importance that you, as a self-publishing writer, endeavor to learn about the methods of having your book printed including selection of the proper size. Some printers will print and cut your book to almost any size but most adhere to a small number of common sizes. These are 5″ by 8,” 5.5″ by 8.5,’” 9″ by 6″ and the “standard page” size of 8.5″ by 11.” The largest size is for books with a lot of photos or music books. Sheet music, or workbooks and educationial materials will also use this larger size.

The total page count must be at least 120-130 numbered pages in order to print the title of your book on the spine. Don’t forget this important point when self-publishing. Even so, at 120 or more pages, you’ll probably be limited to using a 6- or 8-point font on the spine. That’s probably too small for the title of your book to be read across the room. A book this size will look a bit puny compared to other books competing for your buyers’ dollars.

Perhaps the most important thing to remember in book publishing (especially self-publishing) is the appearance of the finished product. A book of 200 pages is large enough in size to include the book title on the spine and to measure up, in comparison, with other books. If you have a low page count, choose the smallest dimensions. A difference in one-half of an inch in page size roughly equals ten numbered pages. In other words, reducing the size of your book (either vertically or horizontally) by a half-an-inch, will add about ten numbered pages to your total page count.

Are books with more pages more costly to print? Not necessarily so. As a self-publishing author, you have to keep a close eye on how your marketing funds are spent. There are many factors that contribute to the overall costs of printing a book. For example, how they are bound, if they include color, the type of paper used and the number of books ordered. All things equal, more pages means more money. But as an author, you should never compromise the quality of your book to save printing costs. In other words don’t “leave things out” just to reduce printing costs. Write the book you want to write. If you are self-publishing, there are other ways to save on printing costs. The quality of the final product is not at the top of the list!

A book’s finished size is a factor in it’s sales numbers. As mentioned earlier, larger-sized books are usually photo galleries, work books or books containing sheet music (e.g., a music book has to be large enough to be read when placed on a music stand). If your book is mostly text, we recommend a smaller size. Self-published business books and self-help titles can benefit from a smaller size as they are often carted around in backpacks, luggage, and carry-ons. Think about your target market and how they will be using it. Make it easy for your readers to get the most out of your self-published title.

Shipping prices vary by carrier so make sure you compare prices and stay current with the latest fee increases. As a self-published writer, it may be smarter to choose a printer who will fulfill and ship your books for you so you can focus on promoting your book.

Trained therapists in musical therapy will diagnose a patient through studying the physical health, social functioning and cognitive skills that the patient responds to. Once assessed, the trained professional creates musical sessions for the patient.

When I first decided to go from amateur photographer to professional photographer, I didnt have a clue what it would take to be successful. I knew what business was, but, I didnt understand the photography business or what it took to be successful in business. I was in the photography business for over three years before I heard of the term marketing and how significant photography marketing is for the success of any size photography business.

My photography was as good as most of what was being sold and published by other photographers. My photography enthusiasm and my excellent customer service skills were my advantages. Other than those two assets, I didn’t give full thought to what it takes to successfully run a photography business – even part-time. Not only was I ‘not ready’ to start a photography business, I had ‘no clue’ that I wasn’t ready.

To be a successful photographer, you have to want to be a photographer. You have to truly enjoy photography. A now-and-then photographer produces so-so work. Quality photographs arent a result of luck. You will have to shoot a great number of images to develop your skills to a proficient level. And, you will have to shoot still more images to have the confidence needed to navigate the turbulent, chaotic and exciting world of professional photography.

Professional photography requires lots of time, effort and work. Many photo hobbyists and amateurs dream about entering the world of professional photography and reaping all the luxurious trappings ” As seen on TV. They dont know about the stress of deadlines, the unknown terror of failed equipment, the changing appetite of customers or the unseen costs of having no business or photography marketing plans.

Part-time photography is a good entry when starting a photography business. Being a part-time photographer doesn’t mean amateurish. Nor does being a part-time photography business mean low-balling prices to get work. Of course, part-time photography is no excuse for poor quality photography.

When practicing photography and shooting for fun, we shoot anything and everything. But, targeting a specific niche is critical to be successful in starting a photo business. Target a photography niche that you shoot well and that is narrow enough to allow you a good share of the market. Also, choose a niche that fits the limited time that you have available.

Marketing basics: 1.) find a target audience; 2.) find out what your targeted audience wants; 3.) give it to them. Learn that formula; practice it; success will follow. Your photography marketing message should inform your targeted audience that “value” of them doing business with you and paying your prices.

Photography marketing is needed because photos don’t sell themselves. There are many very good, effective, inexpensive marketing strategies. Marketing is not advertising alone. Marketing is a process – it never ends. Whether you are considering a full-time or a part-time photography business, learning and using photography marketing is a must for your success.

There have been many phones that have gone up against the iPhone. The iPhone was so revolutionary that it has been hard to top ever since its release. That is until now. The newest addition to the smartphone family might just be able to dethrone the iPhone. The Palm Pre has just been released and has been labeled as the iPhone Killer ever since it was announced. With its advancements it might not be the iPhone killer but this new smartphone is a welcome addition, and just might sway a few customers away from the iPhone.

The Palm Pre features a very unique and simple design. The exterior of the device doesn’t have many buttons which is a welcome design feature. Many smartphones feature a multitude of buttons running along the side of their devices, this makes them hard to use. Another notable difference between the Palm Pre and all other phones is that the Palm Pres outer casing is actually made out of plastic. Many consumers fear the phones will be more prone to damage but the plastic is extremely durable. Also it doesn’t feel any weaker than any other phone. Despite having a smaller screen than the iPhone the Palm Pre actually displays a sharper and better looking image. An unfortunate design flaw on the Palm Pre is the full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard is rather small and those with big fingers will have trouble typing on it. It is a little counter intuitive and may take a while to get used to.

One capability the Palm Pre is unparalleled in is its ability to multitask. One other smartphones you are only able to have one app operating at a time. Meaning if you want to start another app you’ll have to completely close the one you are currently in and open another. But on the Palm Pre you are able to toggle between numerous amounts of apps. The operating system works so well you’ll never experience any lags while using various apps at once. Also receiving calls will not interrupt the app you are currently in. You will be discreetly alerted to all calls and can either answer it or ignore it without having to quit your app.

The Palm Pre offers some of the best Wi-Fi and 3G service any phone has to offer. Website load times are not even an issue and there is no lag when streaming video or audio. There have been many complaints about the iPhones 3G network but on the Palm Pre you’ll never run into and reception problems and you will never drop a call.

The Palm Pre is a great phone, but isn’t necessarily the iPhone killer it was billed as. It does offer some great advancements that the iPhone simply cant match. It also offers a great choice for anyone in the market for a smartphone.

For starters, we should dispel a myth. It is often alleged that Google has ownership of your content (copyright) when you use their blogging service. But this is just not the case. While Google controls their own intellectual rights, your website content is owned by the entitled party or writer. If your content does not remain within their terms of service, then Google has the right to close down or limit your account. WordPress allows you to host your own blog on your hosting account. While you may have more liberty concerning your content, you must still adhere to the guidelines or Terms of Service (TOS) set forth by your hosting company (unless, of course, you own your server).

Simplicity of Installation: It’s usually easier to install Blogger. If Fantastico is not included in your hosting service, it can be difficult to install WordPress unless you are comfortable using your server control panel and FTP.

Google is the winner when it comes to customization. It’s easier to edit template layouts, styles, and colors with Blogger than WordPress. With WordPress, in order to make changes to a template that does not quite suit you as is, you will have to learn PHP and HTML.

Both platforms are packaged with countless templates to pick from, and third parties have developed a wide variety of templates – and that list continues to grow.
