Heroes are not born, heroes are made goes a popular saying. Tell that to a mall security guard who faces off with a group of sophisticated robbers. This is the backbone of the plot of Paul Blart: Mall Cop movie. The story revolves around Paul Blart who is the security guard at a shopping mall. The character is played by Kevin James who is remembered for his excellent portrayal of Doug Heffernan in popular sitcom The King of Queens. Most of the supposedly funny scenes in the movie do not evoke much of a response. The essence of a comedy scene lies in its execution and the key to its perfect execution is the way in which it is timed. Well, this movie falls down right at there. But it is also necessary to mention that there were certain places that would indeed invoke a hearty laugh. Sadly, its just not enough to twist the verdict.

The performances by the lead actors are satisfactory though a lot more can be expected of them. Kevin James tries his best to add some energy to the sagging movie but is not fully successful at it. Jayma Mays does justice to whatever little role that has been offered to her. The director Steve Carr does a decent job with the screenplay but the script pulls down any good work done by him. The writers Kevin James and Nick Bakay could have done a better job though they seem to have made good use of the interesting main plot.

311 has had their fair share of ups and downs. Before they entered the music scene, the band has already been through some tough experiences like being on the verge of poverty and switching band members. But despite all that, they were able to keep their focus on their music.
