Smugglers who take treasured Jingdezhen porcelain relics out of China have been a serious problem in the country for decades. However, for many Chinese, one name is the most notorious of all.

For this story, this man’s name is Michael Hatcher (pseudonym), who is said to have stolen tons of Jingdezhen porcelain items and sold them for an enormous profit. What’s even more appalling, he is accused of having destroyed hundreds of antique porcelain pieces to increase his earnings.

Hatcher recovered the Tek Sing in the South China Sea in 1999.

This sea holds some of the greatest treasures of ancient China. Hundreds of ships crossed it daily on routes bringing goods to and from India, Africa, and Europe. But is was a dangerous journey, and many ships sank here, leaving us their treasures to find. This includes the Tek Sing.

Hundreds of thousands of fine Chinese porcelain pieces went down with the Tek Sing. Everything you could imagine, all waiting on the seafloor for decades before anyone found them. These were some of the best porcelain items made in China.

Over a hundred years later, Hatcher discovered the place where the Tek Sing sank. Even he, an experiences salvager, was shocked by the sheer number of porcelain pieces. It is said that all of the pieces piled on top of each other made a small mountain in the sea!

Most of the pieces survived the impact when Tek Sing hit the sea floor and were still in good condition. But Hatcher allegedly ordered his men to smash most of them into pieces, knowing that he could only make profit by hiking the prices. Only the best of the best were left and secretly moved to a ship where they sat for over a year. Thus, by UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, he could now claim the ownership of the salvaged porcelain.

Because of this, some say he stole from the Chinese people! He earned over 30 million US dollars from the salvaged porcelain.

In the end, he didn’t get all that he really wanted. Just a few years after it was sold, the value of the porcelain increased by more than 10 times!

Michael: A set of skeptical journalists and a fake “angel” find that a dotty old female’s claim that the archangel Michael is living with her is real. Michael, nonetheless, turns out not to be your normal angel. Genial, wry film by no means goes where you anticipate and takes its time getting there, however the trip is alluring, and Travolta, as the seedy, randy Michael, is impeccably cast. Cry the Beloved Country: Moving redo of the 1951 film based on Alan Paton’s rejoiced novel, in reference to a backwoods pastor (Jones) who, in 1946, makes his first ever trip to the city of Johannesburg in search of his errant child. At the same time prosperous landowner Harris voyages there to claim the body of his child, who has just been killed. We see phenomenal work by Jones, Harris, and a largely foreign cast. Not as understated as the first making, however powerful in its own way. Cast includes Richard Harris, James Earl Jones, Charles S. Dutton, and Vusi Kunene. (120 minutes, 1995)

Buck Privates: Un-contemporary although engaging Army opus with Bud and Lou inadvertently registering. Brassy melodies (containing Andrews Sister’s “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”) and subplots get in the way, however A&C’s regimens are amid their best; their first featuring film. Cast includes Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Lee Bowman, Alan Curtis, The Andrews Siblings, Jane Frazee, Nat Pendleton, and Shemp Howard. (84 minutes, 1941)

Born in Belfast in the 1945, in Northern Ireland George Ivan Morrison was an only child. His father George was a ship worker, and mother Violet a housewife, and a competent tap dancer and entertainer in her youth. Fortuitously, his father had acquired a large record collection during a trip to the United States and Van grew up listening to blues artists such as Ray Charles and Leadbelly who were to influence his style later in life.

A critically acclaimed singer and songwriter he is renowned for being stubborn, and often gives astounding live performances. The studio albums Astral Weeks and Moondance are frequently rated as being some of the best albums ever made.

Morrison’s father bought him his first acoustic guitar when he was eleven, and he learned to play some basic chords. He started performing as a professional as a young teenager in the late 1950s playng a number of instruments, including the harmonica, guitar, keyboards, and saxophone in a range of Irish bands covering popular hits of the day.

His first band “The Sputniks” in 1958 was named after the Russian and shortly after forming, they began to perform in intimate locations with Morrison on bluesy rich vocals and taking care of the arrangements.

Not particularly academic, and having no time for school, he left in 1960 with no qualifications. Coming from a working class background he was expected to get a full-time job to contribute to the family upkeep. After a series of unsuccessful soirees into traditional apprenticeships, he finally settled for window cleaning as a stop gap. He later wrote about his experiences in a number of his songs. Morrison had been evolving his musical interests from an early age and was driven to his unique musical direction.

At age seventeen, he toured Europe for the first time with the Monarchs, now calling themselves the International Monarchs. This Irish showband, with Morrison playing saxophone, guitar and harp, in addition to back-up duty on bass and drums, toured steamy clubs and US Army bases in Scotland, England, and Germany, often playing five sets a night. While in Germany, the band recorded a single, “Boozoo Hully Gully”/”Twingy Baby”, under the name Georgie and The Monarchs. This was Morrison’s first recording, taking place in November 1963 at Ariola Studios in Cologne with Morrison on saxophone; it made the lower reaches of the German charts.

In the mid-1960s he was the lead singer with Them and recorded the classic “Gloria”, one of the favorites in his sets. When he returned to Belfast the group disbanded and he began his solo career.

While being managed by Bert Berns, Van Morrison released the hit single “Brown Eyed Girl” in 1967. Warner Brothers bought out his contract shortly after due to the death of his manager. He recorded Astral Weeks in 1968 which was critically acclaimed, but sales were initially poor, although it has now grown to become an all-time classic. The album established him as a major recording artist, and throughout the 1970s he built his reputation. Van Morrison continues to tour, record and collaborate with other artists, producing albums and live performances that are well received, returning to live performances of Astral Weeks in 2008 and in to 2009.

Morrison has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and appearing on several “Greatest Artists” lists as well as receiving six Grammy Awards.

Also if you have an experienced tattoo artist do your foot tattoo they will be very quick. No one should expose themselves to an apprentice tattooist for their first or a foot tattoo. Make sure your tattoo artist has a lot of experience! It is more than usually necessary to touch up foot tattoos because of their proximity, so you also need to bear this in mind.

The nice thing about having a foot tattoo is that you can conceal it. In other words if you don’t want that corporate client to know you are a frivolous lawyer who decided to have themselves inked, you hide it in a shoe. Then when you go to the beach on the weekend with your surfer buddies you can expose it as much as you like.

If you come to think about it, most tattoos can be concealed underneath items of clothing! So if you are the corporate type and you don’t want people to know you have a sexy or arty side to you, just hid your tattoo from the people you don’t want to see it.

Whether you have a butterfly tattooed on your foot or something else doesn’t really matter. But what does matter is the time it takes to heal, the healing process can take anything from 2 – 3 week and it is obviously better if the wound is exposed to the fresh air. Disturbing the wound can ruin your tattoo and you will have to have it touched up, so you have to try and wear open shoes. If this is not an option then you must wear two pairs of thin socks before you put on your shoes, and hope for the best.
