It used to be that you had to go to the video store to get a movie. The next generation it seems will be getting their movies from movie downloads, avoiding any trips to the store. Just about any movie every made can be attained through a movie download site now. Check out these samples.
Eagle’s Wing: The lord on no account meant penguins to soar or the British to make Westerns. This is a boring, artsy glop intertwining movie. Billy Williams’ lush cinematography doesn’t help. Cast includes Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, Caroline Langrishe, Harvey Keitel, Stephane Audran, John Castle, and Jorge Luke. (111 minutes, 1979)
For Love Alone: Pleasantly filmed romantic tirade, set in the 1930s, with Australian university scholar Buday falling in love with her professor Knitting; even albeit he treats her badly, she follows him to England. Neill does well as a completely variant gentleman who enters her life. Movie is based on the novel by Christina Stead. Cast includes Helen Buday, Sam Neill, Hugo Knitting, Hugh Keays-Byme, and Naonti Watts. (102 minutes, 1986)
Rookie Of The Year: Little league pitcher Henry Rowengartner breaks his arm during a game. Miraculously, when his arm heals he can now throw the ball over 100 MPH. When the general manager of the lowly Chicago Cubs spots Henry throwing this fast, it’s off to the major leagues.
Padre Padrone: Dismal. An ignorant Sardinian boy, brutalized by his peasant dad, still grows up to master Greek and Latin and graduate college. Even sadder still, is the un-involving and curiously forgettable Gavino Ledda. Cast includes Omero Antonutti, Saverio Marconi, Marcella Michelangeli, and Fabrizio Specialty. (114 minutes, 1977)
College Road Trip: Melanie is off to college soon. The question is which one. She plans a road trip with her girlfriends so they can check out some colleges. When her Police Chief father insists on going along for the ride, the dream trip turns into a nightmare of a comedy.
The Home Of Usher: Yet a new relating of the Edgar Allan Poe myth is one large yawn, with Reed as Roderick Guide, and Windsor as his prey-the lady who might bear him a child and carry on the family name. The movie was filmed in South Africa. Cast includes Oliver Reed, Donald Pleasence, Romy Windsor, Rufus Swart, Norman Coombes, and Anne Stradi. (90 minutes, 1988)
Curly Sue: Destitute con performer and his adopted waif parasite onto a tightly wound plate of a lawyer. She, in turn decides that this 4-flushing couple is just what she needs to improve her life. Lynch’s evident distress recommends she might have seen the hurries. Cast includes James Belushi, Kelly Lynch, Alisan Porter, John Getz, Fred Dalton Thompson, Cameron Thor, Steve Carell, and Edie McClurg. (101 minutes, 1991)
The Adjuster: This film is a bold seductive study of voyeurism and the electrical energy of icons. Amid the characters is an insurance adjuster who plays games with the lives of those he handles. Meanwhile, his spouse secretly tapes the pornographic material she’s categorizing. Stars include Elias Koteas, Arsinee Khanjian, Maury Chaykin, Gabrielle Rose, and Jennifer Dale. Directed by Molecule Egoyan (1991-Canadian drama -l02 minutes rated R)
Toy Story: A boy’s top choice toy, a dude doll identified Woody, feels bullied and properly so by the emergence of a new name day present, a high-tech spaceman model promoted on Television. A adult story masquerading as a baby’s film, this tale of kinship, fickleness, and the need for acceptance characteristics a vibrant cast of characters led by Woody and his adversary, Thrill Light-year. The “performing” of the 2 steel. Their facial proclamations and body language-is as excellent as anything ever seen in a conventional excited animation. Controller Lasseter acquired a particular Oscar for this expression milestone. Cast includes Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Jim Varney, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Annie Potts, Laurie Metcalf, and R.
