Some Cool Ideas For A Homemade Halloween Costume
Halloween is a festive and joyous holiday for people of all ages and from all walks of life. Adults still dress up for Halloween, so contrary to what people think, is a holiday for all. Children pace from door to door in search for candy at the same time adults are getting together to throw parties. Halloween parties are fun because you get to make yourself into whatever you want to in order to create laughter, make them scared, and shocked, or amazed – during Halloween, almost anything goes.
Halloween costumes can be reasonable in price at some stores, and expensive in other stores. It really depends on how life-like the buyer wants the getup to be and if you are shopping in a high-end shop. Department stores sell Halloween costumes for low prices but the quality is reflective of the price. In some stores, custom Halloween costumes cost a fortune.
The purchase of a fancy costume is not necessary to join in the party, you can build one using your own creativity. Making a homemade costume is creative and very inexpensive – sometimes you don’t have to spend a dime! Most, if not all of the materials you need, you can find in the home. Some of the greatest homemade costume ideas are:
* Hippie – To make a good hippie costume, one has to riffle into the old boxes of clothes, parents’ closets, or a consignment store. However you get these clothes, make sure they are vintage nineteen sixty nine. Dress it up including beads, colored shades, a headband, and old sandals.
* Old Man or Woman – For the man, you need some solid brown pants, cuffed at the bottom, a walking stick, and white hair. For the woman, an old plaid or other skirt that sits below the knees, stockings that are rolled a little bit at the top, oxfords, and a gigantic makeup bag – grey hair as well. And, if you can come up with a walker the final version will be even better.
* Mummy – Wrap all parts of yourself in gauze. Although you try toilet paper, gauze is much better. You can tighten the wrap with small pieces of glue. Also, paint the face white and create age and cracking lines on the face. You can also add green paint over the body to signify mold.
* Cereal Killer – Tape an empty cereal box against ones chest. Get a knife handle (MAKE SURE THERE IS NO METAL LEFT OVER FROM THE BLADE) and attach the handle perpendicularlythe box so it appears the knife is stabbing into the box. Drip red paint or candle-wax from the bottom edge of the knife and down the box to signify blood.
* Cigarette – Use clothing that day that is all white (the white of the cigarette) and get a pair of light brown shoes (the filter). Following these parts, paint your hair red (flame); you can even include powder to activate it to make it look like smoke.
There are a great many costumes you can make by just gathering a few items from the cupboard. You don’t always be forced to buy costumes; you can make one just as good, and if not, or even greater, by being creative in yielding your own design – you might shock yourself with how creative you are!
