Newbies Guide for World of Warcraft
Do you know World of Warcraft? Most online gamers, probably all of them, will say “YES” to the question. World of Warcraft held the world record for the most subscribed MMORPG until now. It is estimated to have 11.5 million subscribers around the world, mostly from Asia continent. How WoW got its fame? One of the reason is because this MMORPG is very easy to access and easy to understand. Even for a person who have never played online games before, playing World of Warcraft would not be a big problem. Most new players only took little time to understand the game concept and how to play the game with their character.
World of Warcraft comes in 4 discs that you need to install on your PC. The installation is easy. After successfully install the game, you need to create a game account. Off course you’ll be needing internet connection (it’s an online game). To have access to play the game, you need to pay a monthly subscription fee. The typical subscription fee is US$19.95 per month. When you first purchase World of Warcraft CD, it usually came with free subscription fee for the first month. For the subscription, you can paid it monthly, three-monthly, or every half year. The choice is yours. Better to adjust with your own budget and need. At first you can choose monthly subscription and then you can choose three or six monthly. But I believe you’ll enjoy playing WoW.
A series of servers operates World of Warcraft. The server location, or in WoW language known as “Realms”, is differ depending on where you are. The realms positioned globally and you just need to connect to whichever realms local to you. This will make your the game faster and more reliable. But don’t worry. World of Warcraft realms are very reliable and well maintained. Another reason why WoW is the leader in MMORPG.
Azeroth is the name of the world where World of Warcraft events took place. Azeroth is a unique world, quite similar to our planet Earth, but has its own unique history, myths and off course unique creatures. After creating Azeroth, it is said the ancient gods then gave rise to the earliest races on the planet. With its own forests, oceans, rivers, mountains, cities, caverns, dungeons, Azeroth is an interesting place to have an adventure. Just like our beloved Earth, Azeroth has gone thru pain and experience much trouble. It also has gone thru great wars and conflict.
Azeroth is the home of many races such as humans, dwarfs, gnomes, elves, trolls, etc. The world of Azeroth is divided into three great continents – The Eastern Kingdom, Kalimdor, and Northrend. Each great continent have their own native inhabitants and climate. The Eastern Kingdom is the home of humans, dwarfs and gnomes, who are known collectively as The Alliance. Kalimdor inhabited by taurens, orcs and trolls. Kalimdor’s inhabitant is known as The Horde. And the third great continent, Northrend is inhabited by the wicked Lich King.
As of now, you can imagine how rich and detailed the world of Azeroth. Although Azeroth is vast and detailed, the game itself is practically easy to understand. In general, you’ll be choosing as the Alliance or the Horde. Each group has their own strength and weakness. The Alliance has more beautiful faces, move fast, and smaller in physical. While the Horde has more ugly and scary faces, move slow but physically strong. If you ask which one’s the good side, that would be your own choice.
As in other MMORPG, you get to create and design your own unique character. You get to customize the clothing, armor, weapon, and other accessories. In World of Warcraft, you are able to choose from nine different type of classes for your character. Some of the classes type are hunter, rogue, shaman, warrior and mage. Each classes has their own unique ability, strength and skills. Combine the classes with your group of choice (the Alliance or the Horde) and create a powerful combination. Maybe all of these, choosing group and then choosing classes, sound difficult for someone with little or zero experience in MMORPG. But trust me when I say it’s not as hard as it explain. You’ll find it easier when you try playing the game.
The objective of playing World of Warcraft is to explore new places, developing your character while fighting monsters or other player. Every level you need to play in this game has their own interesting area for exploration. While you explore the vast world of Azeroth, along the way you will find many items. The items can then be used to strengthen your character or you can also sell or trade them. Gold is the main currency in Azeroth. Collect gold as much as you can. With gold you can buy precious items, upgrade your armors and weapons. But off course, playing MMORPG will be no fun if you don’t have anything to fight with. In your adventure, you can fight monsters and savage creatures. Sometimes fighting monsters is the only way for you to progress in this game.
Blizzard Entertainment has successfully develop an easy to master control for World of Warcraft. Its system is sensible and really maximized the use of mouse and keyboard. Someone who is new to MMORPG will easily master WoW’s control. WoW also provide player with in-game camera. With the camera, player able to look at the surrounding and then make a good use of the environment.
All in all, World of Warcraft is a great game for any type or age of online player. People with zero or even skilled gamer will still have much fun playing World of Warcraft. Every player will enjoy having an adventure in the vast and detailed world of Azeroth. They will also enjoy fighting monsters, collecting and trading items, finding rare and powerful items, etc. There are so much fun and addiction playing World of Warcraft. So… enjoy…
