The Gay Divorcee: A top Fred Astaire flick froth with typical pointless structure and irregular lyrical numbers, containing Oscar-triumphing “Continental” and Cole Porter’s “Day and Night.” Rhodes is memorable as could-be correspondent in divorce case. Incidentally, the Broadway hit on which this was based was hailed The Gay Divorce, although the Hollywood Production Cipher disapproved. Christmas Games

by Rene A Lacape

One fun game is ideally suited for anxious children, but could also be for adults, if you want to add some fun for gift giving. For children, this is a way to make that “open one gift on Christmas Eve” rule a little more exciting and make it last a little longer.

The motive of the game is to make the childrens look for their Christmas gifts by analyzing a series of clues which will eventually lead them to it. Instead of the normal tradition which you leave the Christmas gifts under the family Christmas tree, you hide it somewhere else in the house and the children would have to follow the clues to find it. If you are thinking and wondering what to write the clues in, then you can make use of the excess Christmas cards that you have lying around the house, or you can cut out cards in the shape of the Christmas tree, or use the tree ornaments that you have.

Whatever items you use to write down the clues, spread them around the house where the clues would lead to the next available clue and so on until they find the presents. Make sure the clues are easy to understand. For instance, the first clue would mention a certain fact leading them to their bedroom and their bed in particular. On their beds they will find another clue which leads to another area or item in the house. One crucial matter to remember is that you have to consider the age group of the childrens involved and how long they can concentrate on the game. The final clue would be the gift itself, and as an added bonus the gift is hidden under the Christmas tree all along which the kids would not be expecting.

During Christmas eve celebrations if you happen to have lots of people over at your house, then it would do no harm to try and play the “circle game”.To play this game, have everyone gather around and sit in a circle and the first person would start the game by saying “In my Christmas stocking there is an apple”. Then the next person in line would have to repeat the exact line but add in another item along with the original sentence. The fun part with these game is that each added item mentioned by the individuals would have to follow the alphabetical order. Anyone who fails to repeat the sentence is considered out of the game and the winner is the person who successfully says out the whole sentence without fail.

If having activities that requires you to sweat and moving your body a lot is your idea of fun, then you can try the ever popular game of musical chairs. To blend in the Christmas atmosphere, try and use some upbeat Christmas music when playing the game. Try and use more popular Christmas music so that they can sing along to the song while playing the game. This makes the game more interesting because it is likely the individuals playing the game would be so caught up singing and dancing along to the music that they forgot about grabbing the chairs. The rules of the game remains the same though which each round the person who doesn’t manage to grab a chair is eliminated and it continues until the last man standing.

In everyone’s mind no doubt the main event of the evening would be the arrival of the beloved santa claus, so for this moment it would be suitable to play the game aptly titled “Where is Santa?”. For this game, every participant has to sit around in a circle and one random individual is chosen to be Rudolph. The chosen individual would leave he room and the remaining people would choose one of them to be Santa Claus. After choosing, Rudolph returns and starts looking for the real Santa. The person chosen to be Rudolph would be standing in the circle and trying to find the chosen Santa. Santa, however, would be looking at other individuals sitting in the circle and and when they wink at anyone of them, then the person they winked at would have to yell out “ho ho ho”.

Once Rudolph figures out where Santa is, another Rudolph and another Santa are chosen and the game continues.

When Christmas eve finally arrives, your Christmas cards would have been hanging around your home for a long time. So, make full use of them and play some games using the cards. Prepare a laundry basket or a gift box to throw the cards at. Make sure the distance of the gift box or basket is suitable according to the age and ability of the participating people. The task of throwing the cards into the baskets might sound easy, but every card have different weight and shapes so it is quite hard to achieve it in real life.
