#5: Oh Those Bavarian Women.

Every German woman who shows up at the Oktoberfest with a Bavarian costume makes you feel like you’ve been transported back in time, except that time never really existed, because there was never really a period where people wore clothes like this that also showed off their chests so incredibly well. You will lose your mind.

#4: An Endless Flow of Beer.

If you’re in any other bar in the world, and you get up to even half the crap you’re able to pull off in a typical Oktoberfest tent, you will be immediately ejected by some gruff, crazy bouncers wondering how you managed to even last that long. Not in Munich.

#3: The Music is Amazing/Awful.

While you might not enjoy singing along to ‘I Will Survive’ under normal circumstances, doing so in the context of Oktoberfest often becomes ridiculously fun. Once you’ve got up on a bench, danced with a beautiful Bavarian 20-something, and done the YMCA dance with a liter of beer in your hand, you’ll appreciate why the music is so corny and perfect, all at once.

#2: The Security is Ridiculous.

For some reason you will never see a damn fight in Oktoberfest, because someone back some years ago realized that creating a festival devoted entirely to beer (instead of to sport, or food, or something other excuse people use to get drunk) would result in some rowdy-ass people. As a result the security is tighter, faster, and harder than you’ve ever seen in your life.

#1: It’s Entirely Devoted to Beer.

Sure, there are wine festivals, fancy beer festivals, vodka festivals — all that stuff. But nowhere in the world is there a massive, massive party entirely devoted to consuming beer in big quantities, with other people, in tents. It is the apotheosis of everything great about beer in the first place, the camaraderie, the silly excitement, the fatty foods — enshrined in the best festival ever created.

One of the first to act before the flop) you should play a little tighter. Lastly, always look at your hand relative to where your position is on the table. If you have an early position, you need to have big pairs or cards like the Ace/King or Ace/Queen in order to stick. Dining in a restaurant is a fun way to experience local towns and cities. Food is a way to express our appreciation and love for one another. People are eating out more now than they ever did. There is restaurant etiquette and hopefully most diners use theirs. Using good manners and etiquette is a way to enhance the whole dining experience so that everyone can enjoy their evening.

When dining in a restaurant, it is always good to make a reservation or another way to look at it is to make an appointment for dinner. If you are not going to go to the restaurant due to problems last minute. Give the restaurant a call and cancel the reservation. By cancelling, the hostess can seat someone else at the table instead of waiting to see if you show up. Also if you are running more than fifteen minutes late, give the restaurant a call to let the hostess know what is going on.

A survey conducted in 2004 revealed that over twenty four restaurants in New York City require a gentleman to wear a jacket and tie. One might ask what is appropriate to wear when dining out. If unsure, call the restaurant and ask if there is a dress code. If there is one, ask what type of attire is required.

An uncomfortable situation for any diner is when the food brought is not cooked the way you ordered or not correct. The diner needs to decide will they just ride it out with what was given to them or send the dish back.

When sending the food back to the chef, try to remain calm and polite. Explain to the wait staff what the problem is and they will surely try to accommodate. Most restaurants have a “customer is always right” approach. If your issue is not resolved with the wait staff, ask to speak with the manager or owner of the restaurant. Maintain your composure and speak in a friendly tone. Do not be harsh or rude.

It is always good not to speak on the phone while eating. If a person is in a restaurant and the cell phone rings, take the call outside. A better approach is to turn the phone off or at least put it on vibrate mode while inside the establishment. If a restaurant staff reminds you to take the call outside, do not get upset. They have that rule so that everyone can enjoy a nice relaxing dinner.

Eating out is always a fun experience. It is a nice way to end a long day of running around. It is a way to unwind and relax. When dining out remember some of the etiquette rules so that your experience and everyone else’s experience will be a positive one.

Restaurant etiquette is hard to find nowadays. There are a few rules that must be abided by when dining out. Remembering to turn off the cell phone is an important one to remember. Showing up for your reservation is another important rule to remember. If you cannot show up remember to call the restaurant so that they can use the spot for someone else. Dining out is a fun way to spend an evening. Do not let bad manners ruin it for all.

Nowadays it seems like no one knows what manners are. It doesn’t matter what level of business you are in, you may have forgotten all of the things your mother taught you while you were growing up. Universities are, also, negligent in teaching their business students how to act at business lunches. Here are some things you can do to keep from making a fool of yourself.

A business lunch is not a social affair, it is business. Don’t show off, flirt, drink too much, joke around or ask a lady out. Don’t embarrass the boss. The last thing you want is for him to call the new client after lunch and apologize to him for the way you acted.

Don’t talk with food in your mouth. Many times when you are eating, someone will ask you a question. Wait to answer until your mouth is empty. Learn to take small bites so you can quickly swallow what’s in your mouth if necessary.

Make it a habit not to think of your client as anything more than a new client. No matter how much you enjoy yourself with the other person, it is totally inappropriate to arrange for a social encounter at a business lunch.

Be careful about asking someone you don’t know or whom you have only met once to meet you at the restaurant. To avoid the embarrassment of not recognizing each other, offer to meet the client at his place of business.

Always be kind and considerate to the person who is serving you and the other people in the restaurant. If you are rude or unkind to others, you may lose a client. Be prepared to respond correctly no matter what happens during your lunch.

Don’t discredit the other businesses like yours that are in town. Make sure your company performs to the best of its ability so that other people take notice. If you talk bad about the other companies, the client may become disgusted and take his business to your competitor.

Be a good conversationalist. When there is a lull in the conversation, ask a question about the other person or bring up a topic you think he might be interested in. People enjoy talking about things they enjoy. The entire meal doesn’t have to be about business.

Find out everything about your client’s type of work before you go to lunch. With internet at your fingertips, you can do a 15 minute search before you leave. It will make him feel more at ease if you have some knowledge about his type of work.

Even if you don’t have your glasses with you, and you can’t read the bill, don’t ask your client to help you figure out the tip. There is nothing worse than letting him know how much you spent to take him out to lunch. He can figure it out pretty well for himself if he wants to know.

A business lunch is a professional way to get to know a new client. The way you act and the manners you use will determine whether or not you keep a client. Avoid making a fool of yourself at business lunches, and watch your company grow.

I adore Toronto, one of my favorite metro areas. Some call Toronto little New York. It has everything New York has on a smaller more intimate level. You can see a first rate play, attend a great concert, and enjoy a top class meal at several of the restaurants in Toronto.

Talk about clean. Toronto is one of the cleanest cities in the world. It is the cleanest city I have visited. With the millions of people in Toronto this is saying a lot about their clean mindset. Everyone seems to clean up after himself there. And if you love steak, Toronto is one of the best places in the world for fine steakhouses.

The Toronto restaurants have contacts with some of the finest beef farms in this hemisphere. Some Toronto locals have been visiting the same steak houses for over sixty years and remember when their grandparents took them there to eat. One of the finest transit systems can be found in Toronto making it easy to visit your favorite restaurant no matter where it is in the city.

Toronto boasts one of the best mass transit systems in the world. You can visit all your favorite restaurants in Toronto by bus, subway, or even trolley. Do you like seafood over steak. Prepare for the best lobster dinner when in Toronto. Or do you cater to Sushi? Toronto has some of the best Sushi in the world.

I love going to one of my favorite Toronto restaurants where the chef bakes pounds of garlic at a time. He then creates a delicious garlic spread and bakes wonderful garlic bread. I pleaded with him for the recipe but he refused. I cannot blame him. I will go back though and I left with an order to go.

Toronto is also one of the most crime free cities in the world. I feel safe visiting my favorite Toronto restaurants no matter the time of day or night. Who wants to lose ones appetite worrying about the crime of a city. You have nothing to worry about in Toronto.

I think my favorite type of food is Italian. And the best lasagna I have ever had was in Toronto. It was a combination of chicken, spinach, broccoli, and three different chesses. But it was the perfect pasta sauce that made the meal. Almost all finer Toronto restaurants have an excellent wine selection.

And to let you in on a poorly kept secret, the nicest people in the world are Canadian. You might expect a large city like Toronto to be a little on the unfriendly side. This not the case at all. You feel welcome throughout the city. And certainly in the restaurants in Toronto I visited I felt like part of the celebrity dining list. Great food, excellent service, and friendly people make Toronto one of my favorite places to eat.

You do not want to miss dining in Montreal restaurants. Great service and great eating is the fare of the day and night. When I eat in Montreal it is all I expect from a fine restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere and attention to small details make every meal I have had in this beautiful city worthwhile. You can find quality at budget prices at many eateries in Montreal.

Montreal is home to some of the finest restaurants in the world. Most feature traditional haute cuisine. Almost all have well stocked wine cellars replete with some of the finest French wines outside of Europe. Canadian masterpieces, rare flowers, soft lighting and of course fine white table linens are the standards. Not only traditional dishes will make your dining experience memorable but for the adventurous new exotic dishes are found throughout the city.

You will fine the best prime rib of beef, terrine of duck, venison medallions, and for the health conscious some of the best poached salmon you will ever lift to your lips. Dancing and live music is the Saturday night fare at some of the livelier cafes. How about the best steak you have ever tasted topped off with a selection of decadent French sauces. Traditional steakhouses in Montreal give beef lovers a touch of Paris.

Seafood is your thing you say. Try the best lobster you have ever tasted in Montreal. Or any of your favorite seafood; trust me you will want to find a reason to come back for more of Montreal’s great seafood specialties. You will also appreciate the rustic decors, beamed ceilings and traditional Quebecois pine armoires found in the finer Montreal restaurants.

You probably call ahead for reservations at most eateries in Montreal. But do not worry if you do not have one and the place is not crowded. This is a friendly town and you will be treated like a celebrity every restaurant you visit. I have always been treated great in Montreal.

Montreal French cuisine offers wonderfully prepared seasoned fare all day. But some cafes the mid day meal draws many because of the lunch special prices. Can you stand beef wellington or candied duck for lunch? The you may want to get your great meal at lunch time when the prices are lower.

The decadent desserts speak for themselves. Need I say more? Beautiful venues provide soothing colors, soft lighting and perfect patinas; make for delicious dining for you and your special someone. Italian is your game you tell me. Mouth watering manicotti, picture perfect pasta, and luscious lasagna will make you think you are in Rome. Some of the finest pizza calls Montreal its origin.

I am a cook at heart, or stomach you might say. But eating out is not my favorite past time. I usually think I could cook better and I could save money by going to the super market rather than the restaurant. But this is Montreal I am talking about. Great food reasonable prices, excellent service. You cannot ask for anything more. Montreal restaurants are some of my most favorite in the world.
