Where The Transformers Devastator Originates From
The Transformers Devastator character is just one of the many fictional characters in this popular comic by Marvel. This character is able to come about when many Constructicons combine their bodies together into one single being. There are six Transformers included in the Constructicons; Scrapper, Hook, Bonecrusher, Scavenger, Long Haul, and Mixmaster. Each member of this group is able to turn into some form of construction equipment and when they combine as one, they are utterly brutal.
The six robots that were included in this Devastator were; Scavenger, Mixmaster, Scrapper, Hook, Long Haul, and Bonecrusher. All of them were able to change into various construction equipment, hence the name Constructicons. The six robots that made up Devastator were the ones also in charge of the thoughts and actions of this giant robot. The main purpose of the Devastator was to crush everything that entered his path.
Having six robots, as opposed to five like many other combination robots, had its ups and downs. The positive aspect was that there were six separate beings that could combine their strengths. The negative side was that these six individual robots also had different thoughts, which was confusing when trying to decide what Devastator should do.
All the robots in the Constructicon group were antagonists and always against the Autobots, since the Constructicons were part of the Decepticon group. These two groups of robots are notorious for constantly battling one another.
In the animated series, the power to become Devastator was given to the Constructicons by Megatron, the manical leader of the Decepticons. While in the Marvel comics, the Decepticon Commander known as Shockwave arranged for the Constructicons to be made. After they were built, the power to combine into Devastator was given to them by the head of Optimus Prime, who was being imprisoned at the time.
According to the comic, everyone was unaware of the powers the Constructicons had to form Devastator, until the Autobots triggered it. There was a radio dish being built by the Constructicon crew and the Autobots tried to keep it from happening. When this occurred, the construction robots came together and formed Devastator. The Autobots thought that this was a great idea and decided to come up with their own version.
They were able to come up with Aerialbots, which were aircrafts that combined to form Superion. The main difference found between the Transformers Devastator and Superion was that one wanted to destroy all in sight and the other wanted to conquer, but protect as well. The Autobots and Decepticons will always be fighting against one another in comics and cartoons, for the justice they feel their particular group deserves.
