The First Steps To Teach Yourself To Play Piano

by Mike Eggers

The most difficult part of figuring out how to teach yourself to play piano is learning to read music. If you have no musical background, the piano can be particularly challenging, although far from impossible. Anyone with a basic reading comprehension level can learn to play the piano without formal instruction.

The piano is an intricate instrument made up of 52 white keys and 36 black keys. When you are just beginning to teach yourself to play piano you want to focus on the white keys. The black keys are the sharps and flats. You’ll learn about those later.

In order to effectively play the piano you need to be able to locate middle C. The simplest way to find it the first time and to face the piano and, starting at the left hand side of the keyboard, count to the 40th key. This will be middle C.

To recognize it after you’re found middle C the first time, you have to study the formation of the black keys. These are found in sets. The black keys are arranged with two keys, then two white keys, the then three black keys. The white key that sits to the left of the set of two black keys is a C note.

Learning the C note is imperative as it is the most recognizable and it leads to the other notes. Starting from C, your scale goes up to A like this: C, D, E, F, G, A, B. This repetitive pattern is how you learn to recognize the notes necessary for playing any song on the piano.

To teach yourself to play piano you’ll need a good attitude, patience, desire, and a source of easy to understand information that you can apply to your efforts. Take your time to completely master one lesson before moving onto the next, as this will turn you into a real piano player.

The Meteor Man – Townsend plays a uncertain, nerdy school teacher with a fear of heights who gets hit by an abnormal emerald green meteor that turns him into a superhero. Down to You – Prinze and Stiles futilely try to buddy us up by talking straight into the camcorder, illuminating how their once pleasant college romance went bust (albeit not as bust as the film). Cast includes Freddie Prinze, Jr., Julia Stiles, Shawn Hatosy, Selma Blair, Zak Orth, Ashton Kutcher, Rosario Dawson, Henry Winkler, and Lucie Amaz.

Suds – Chiefly amusing change-of-pace silent film motor vehicle for Pickford as a plain Cockney laundrywoman who pines for the nobleman who left off a shirt to be cleaned months ago and on no account came back. HBO Scheduled for March Decision on Game of Thrones

by Jon Hunter

HBO are to make their final decision on whether to press ahead with the Game of thrones series in March this year. The pilot episode which is in post production at the moment is the first episode of the proposed series based on George RR Martins ‘A song of Ice and Fire Novels’.

This information has come from a number of sources including David Weiss the producer and George RR Martin the writer of the original series of books. This is a longer wait than many fans has hoped for as HBO has picked up a few pilots up very quickly in recent history.

However the cast assembled for the production is more than impressive with the five biggest names to date being Sean Bean, Lena Headey, Mark Addy , Jason Momoa and Peter Dinklage.

Added to these are a number of established English stage and character actors, and a number of new, exciting and upcoming English actors and newcomers. Together they make probably the best ensemble fantasy acting cast since Peter Jackson brought together the cast for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

The project is being directed by David Weiss and David Benioff (Troy, Kite Runner and Wolverine )with continued involvement by George RR Martin, who as well as being the author of the original series of novels, has a history in TV and film going back many decades.

The filming for the pilot took place on location at Doune Castle in Scotland (used extensively in Monty Pythons Holy Grail.), the Jerusalem set of Kingdom of Heaven in Morocco, and in the Paint Hall and on location around Belfast. It took place in October and November this year and took close to 4 weeks all told.

Through December and one would imagine well into the new year the pilot is in post production with Modern VideoFilm, who are handling the post-production requirements. The CGI necessary for the pilot are known to include a CGI wheelhouse (for Cersei’s travelling party), digital extensions on the real castle locations, the scenes and panoramas viewed from the indoor windows and possible crowd extension work.

Frogger: A Timeless Classic

by Tim Jackson

Frogger is considered one of the most popular and influential games of the Golden Age of Arcade games. Along with Pacman, Qbert, and Asteroids, the game could be found in just about any arcade across the nation. Today it is considered a classic and has spawned more than a dozen sequels.

Frogger was released in 1981 and was distributed by Sega/Gremlin. The game was developed by the Japanese company Konami and it was their first big hit. Nearly three decades later the game is still popular with a new generation of users who thankfully don’t have to use quarters to hop.

Playing the Game

Many people believe that the success of this game is due to how simple it is to operate. The storyline is simple and the characters are not complex in the least. The characters are simply frogs. They are taking on the challenge that has been fought by the chicken and are trying to safely reach the other side of the road. The objective is to maneuver the frog across a busy obstacle course and get them to the other side without them being run over.

Three, five, or seven frogs are given to the player in the beginning, each representing one life chance. The frogs are waiting patiently at the bottom of the screen as the game begins. In order to be successful, the player must get the frogs across a very busy roadway. The road has many different vehicles in place that include buses, dune buggies, trucks, taxis, cars, bulldozers, motorcycles, and vans. As they travel horizontally across the screen, each lane of vehicles is traveling at random speeds and in different directions.

After the highway is overcome and the frog has made it safely across this area, it is challenged with a river that has crocodiles, logs, and turtles running across it in different directions and again at different speeds. The challenge lies in hopping across the backs of the turtles and onto logs all the while avoiding being eaten by the crocodiles or landing in the river. Once they have crossed this obstacle course they are home in the lily pads at the top of the screen. Five separate lily pad homes are waiting on the other side of the river. As if this was not challenging enough, the player must beat a time clock to get the frogs across the obstacle course. If they do not get the frog into the safety of the lily pad in time, they lose a life and have to begin again. Extra bonuses are available if the frog assists a lady frog across the river or if they eat a bug on a log.

What Do You Do To Win?

When all five frogs reach their home and all of the lily pads are full, the game moves on to the next, more-challenging level. As you might expect, vehicles move faster on the roads and predators in the pond are quicker and more abundant.

As for the controls, there is only one way to control the frogs and that is the joystick. Each time a player moves it in one of the four directions, the frog hops once.

Where to Play Frogger today?

While it is still possible to find a Frogger game in an arcade, a much easier means of playing this game would be to play it online. Almost every game site on the internet offers the original version of Frogger. Frogger has reached new heights in popularity with users of the Smartphone. They are paying under a dollar to download it to their phone so they can

Beijing Hotels and the Capital Museum: Treasures of an Ancient City

by Efrenn Larson

The City of Beijing, previously known as Peking, is China’s political capital. With more than 17 million people in its jurisdiction, Beijing is the second largest city in China after Shanghai. To facilitate the movement of its citizens, visitors and the goods they produce, the city is built with dozens of railways, motorways, seaports and a modern airport. This fact makes travelling to this great city a lot easier.

As an old city hosting many significant tourist attractions, she always gives the traveler a sense of awe. The coexistence of the new and the old add to this great feeling. Not to mention, a number of Beijing hotels which are only a few minutes away from these landmarks help visitors save time by making them visit many spots in a day.

Culture has always been a fabric of Chinese life. That is why a number of museums have been dedicated to the preservation of this unique facet. One of the biggest and more interesting of these museums is the Capital Museum. Opened in 1981 and renovated in 2007, it now houses over 200,000 relics in its collection.

The faade of the museum is based on human and cultural heritage and underlines the harmonious integration of the past and the present, history and nature, art and modernism. The immense roof and the slope at the entrance are derived from traditional Chinese architectural style, and the stone exterior represents the city walls of ancient China. A large number of bronze, timber and stones are dispersed throughout the museum to represent a deeper sense of historicity. Also, a glass curtain wall, which gives a grand and transparent effect, reflects a sense of modernity.

There are three permanent exhibitions in the museum. The first, entitled “Ancient Capital: Chapter on the History and Culture of Beijing” shows the intricacies of art, dance, architecture, trade, commerce and transportation of the early Chinese when ruled by the emperor.

The second exhibition, entitled “Ancient Capital: Urban Construction,” stresses the embrace of the new world order by the Chinese, highlights their urbanization and the adoption of new-age technologies which brought the nation to its present state.

The last exhibition, “Stories of the Capital City – Old Beijing Folk-customs” examines how folkways and folklores were vital in the life of the Chinese. Their belief in a Supreme Being and their customs to embrace luck are also found here.

The museum, aside from its exhibitions, also functions as a cultural heritage storehouse, conference and reception hall, and a digital movie hall where a super wide screen with the state-of-the-art technology are installed to display high-definition films. For visitors to enjoy the wonders of this site, they can earlier purchase their tickets in Beijing hotels or any travel agency to avoid the usual hustle and bustle.

Halo 3: Bring It On!

by Casey Jones

Recently, while looking through the Internet for details on the Halo 3 weapons cheats, I came across a number of what-if scenarios? What if Master Chief took on different famous characters from movies, comic books, and legends? Here is a list of some of these battles and my idea of the outcome.

While technically not a Halo 3 weapon cheat, the contest between Master Chief versus Robocop could be hot. According to the information on the Internet both have some similarities. They’re both human, they’ve both been enhanced, they both have amazing armour and they are both experienced fighters. Most respondents thought that Master Chief would defeat Robocop, but let’s be honest here, Master Chief can be defeated with a pistol, whereas Robocop was still going after being blown up at a fuel station. The verdict has to go to Robocop.

When Master Chief battles with the next fighter he would do well to have a Halo 3 weapon cheat. The next is MacGyver. Master Chief has a lot going for him. He is an expert with a variety of weapons; he has that amazing armour; he has some incredible vehicles at his disposal; he’s a Clint Eastwood type loner and he can regenerate himself. However, in short, MacGyver is brain over brawn. It would probably come down to the same considerations in a fight between Batman and Superman. If it’s a closed arena where it’s man versus man, Master Chief will win. But put this battle in the real world with Swiss army knives and plastic tape at his disposal, and MacGyver’s going to wipe the floor with our bionic pal.

So far Master Chief is 2-0 down, it’s beginning to look like he could definitely use a Halo 3 weapon cheat. But let’s give him another go. This time it’s Master Chief versus Terminator. We already know Master Chief’s powers, the Terminator’s consist of an ability to master every weapon, relentless willpower, doesn’t get tired, amazing focus to destroy his target. It all boils down to the Spartan laser weapon. As one voter said, if Master Chief can destroy vehicles with this weapon he can certainly put a sizeable hole in the Terminator too.

OK, let’s have one more contest before Master Chief discovers his Halo 3 weapon cheat. How can he do in battle against Boba Fett from Star Wars? The major differences between Master Chief and Boba Fett are that Boba has no shield, owns his own ship and has a jet pack (wow).

Many people believe Star Wars wins this battle, but Master Chief’s weapons are much more powerful than those owned by the bounty hunter. This one makes it two all, Master Chief goes 50-50.

So, those are the results of the survey – the people have spoken. In this tiny poll that we found on the Internet, Master Chief is your average type of super hero, who is not guaranteed to win every single bout, unless he finds his weapon cheats or the story writers want him to, that is.
