Nevertheless, the action and sound are very nice for an instrument in this price range. There were a couple of dead spots, but nothing that hindered our use of the instrument.

This year MTV Spring Break will take place in Acapulco, Mexico. Past years the music channel has moved down to Panama City Beach in Florida and even in Cancun, Mexico for the week. For those that have never watched MTV during Spring Break, it is a time that the entire station is transferred on location at a vacation destination.

Meant for college students, the station has the top bands performing for thousands of young adults. MTV, or Music Television, always knows how to throw the best parties. With dancing, fun music and many contests, this year is sure to be the best year yet.

MTV plans big for this event. There are fun contests, parties, dancing, concerts and much more. College students from all over travel each year to MTV’s Spring Break location. It is a great time that thousands look forward to every year. It doesn’t really matter if you are actually there or at home, you can experience the fun and excitement.

This year they will be filming in the Playa Suites hotel on the north side of the beach. There are many rooms available for students to stay at the many different hotels on the beach. There are many hotels in the area.

For more fun, students can attend some scheduled concerts that many hotels are sponsoring and also there will be daylong pool parties. Since the average temperature during this period will be between 70 and 85 degrees, this is perfect weather for fun in the sun.

If you plan on being one of the thousands of college students attending this year’s MTV Spring Break then you will need to be sure that you are careful about the local water. It is advised to drink from bottled water. This is the best way to avoid issues. Stomach problems seem to be an issue otherwise which will make the entire vacation miserable. It is also advised to be careful where you eat food. When your body is not used to the water and food in Acapulco, your stomach can bear the brunt of it. It is not always pretty.

There is a fun nightclub in Acapulco called the Palladium which overlooks Acapulco and the bay area. If you will be down there for Spring Break then you will truly want to party here. There is no closing time and the sound system is award winning. There is a one hundred sixty foot long wall of glass to look out at the entire night setting.

With so many things to do during Spring Break you will be sure to have a great time. If you want a great room be sure to call ahead before the rooms all get booked up. Find the perfect spot to spend the week while MTV films all of the fun that you will be having. 2010 is sure to be a great year for Spring Break.

You can record high quality (possibly even “professional quality”) music at your home studio because of the wonderful leaps in technology. A recording studio that might have cost $75,000 to build fifteen years ago can be built for $3000 in 2010.

Your first investment if you want to build a home studio should be a good quality computer with plenty of hard drive space and lots of RAM. Luckily high quality computers are becoming less costly. I just ordered a new computer with 6GB of RAM for just over $850.

After you get your high quality PC or Mac you need some kind of DAW software (this stands for “Digital Audio Workstation”) that you will be doing your recording and mixing with. One obvious choice is ProTools but that doesn’t mean it’s the best choice for you, you may want to consider Logic Studio instead.

What you get after that initial purchase of a computer and a DAW varies depending on what kind of music you want to make. If your interest lies in making completely electronic music without any sort of live instrumentation or vocals then there’s a good chance you will want to consider buying various software programs like Celemony Melodyne Editor but most people (even those doing electronic based music) will want to be able to record vocals and instruments and will need some sort of audio interface.

If you’re one of those that is going to need an audio interface you should be aware that many of them actually come with free DAW software.

An audio interface is how you get sound from a microphone or an instrument into your computer. Yes that’s a very “dumbed down” explanation but I think it gets the point across.. Personally I use the EMU 1616M and it’s highly recommended for those on a PC who do not need a lot of inputs. There’s a wide selection of audio interfaces to choose from, it is too big of a topic to cover in detail. Again the “industry standard” is Pro Tools but that’s not necessarily the best way to go.

Another “must have” for most people is a microphone. A good mic will allow you to record acoustic instruments, vocals, & amps. It will clearly be a very important part of your home studio. The Shure KSM44 is an excellent choice if you can afford to buy it.
