You know what they say, “content is king”. It’s true. A blog’s content is so important it makes or break a blog. After all, no one wants to waste their time reading junk articles. If we are in agreement here, find out my 6 tips to writing a good blog post.

1. Write in short paragraphs – The visual appeal of your blog’s content can be just as important as the content itself. Write your blog posts in short paragraphs (no more than 2-3 sentences is a safe rule) to provide visual relief from a text heavy web page. Most readers will skim a blog post or web page before committing to read it in its entirety. Text heavy web pages and blog posts can be overwhelming to readers while pages with a lot of white space are easier to skim and more likely to keep readers on the page (or to encourage them to link deeper into the site.

2. Images are a great way to break up a text heavy blog post – They can help to draw attention to a specific post, add color to your blog, and help with search engine optimization. Don’t use too many images though, or your posts get cluttered and your text gets harder to read rather than easier. Also, make sure you only use images that you have permission to publish on your blog. There are many websites that offer free photos to use on your blog. Take some time to learn about copyright and fair use laws before you publish images in your blog posts.

3. Write with the reader in mind – Remember WIIFM? It’s marketing jargon for What’s In It For Me? That’s what you should be keeping in mind. Your reader will read your post looking for what’s in it for them.

4. Write like you talk – Even if you aren’t a natural born writer, you can write for your blog. Just write like you’re speaking to your friend.or to yourself! Remember though, get to the point quickly. Keep in mind the journalist’s rule of 5 W’s in the first paragraph: who, what, why, when and where.

5. Be honest – Blogs that are written in an honest voice and truly show who the writer is are often the most popular. Remember, a critical component to a blog’s success is the community that develops around it. Represent yourself and your content honestly and openly and reader loyalty will undoubtedly grow.

6. Make lists – Bulleted and numbered lists work equally well in turning text that could be published as long paragraphs into easily scannable content. Use lists whenever you can to break up long blocks of text.

This is why the death of the DVD seems inevitable in the face of the emerging Blu-ray technology. With a slight tweaking of the color spectrum, Blu-ray has rendered conventional DVD players as hard to watch as VHS. Hard to believe, but true.

The blue laser of the Blu-ray technology renders HD quality films and sound, while condensing all that data more efficiently on the disc. This means two and three disc boxed sets will be far more rare — either that or studios will release even more bonus materials. From 1954 onward (the year of the first Fender Stratocaster), most guitar shapes have been variations of the Gibson Les Paul or Fender Stratocaster. It’s not common for a guitar body shape that deviates from these designs to make any major effect on guitar players who are fairly conservative when it comes to their guitar gear.

One such luthier who did make a pronounced impact on the industry with his rare body styles is the late Bernardo Chavez Rico, the founder of B. C. Rich guitars and creator of such memorable guitars as the Warlock and Bich. One of his earliest and most popular models is the B. C. Rich Mockingbird.

The Mockingbird guitar shape ships in a number of different incarnations. Current B. C. Rich Mockingbird models include the Calibre Classic, the Special, the Special X, the Masterpiece, the ST, and the Exotic Classic, which is the focus of our current review.

While the original B. C. Rich Mockingbird was hand-made in Rico’s custom shop, most present models are Korean made, which helps explain their extreme affordability. It includes the well-known neck-through construction, in which the neck runs through the entire body of the guitar, contributing to its sustain and tone.

The instrument sports an ebony fretboard, which as you would expect lends itself to fast fretwork and is perfectly geared toward the rock and metal player. The 24 jumbo frets were smooth, well-rounded, and polished very well, especially for an imported guitar.

The Rockfield pickups are a nice addition, with smooth, creamy sounds, though guitarists desiring high gain pickups may still feel the need to swap the stock Rockfields with Duncan or Dimarzio replacements. If you dig more classic rock or metal tones, though, the Rockfields are more than adequate.

We found the B. C. Rich Mockingbird Exotic Classic to be a solid classic rock and metal machine. The fit, finish, and action are impeccable. The hardware is first-rate, though we would have liked some locking tuning machines.

If you’re looking for even more options, you can give the Mockingbird ST a try, which includes an original Floyd Rose Tremolo. We certainly didn’t miss the tremolo on the Exotic Classic, though, which is a first-rate hard rock/metal electric guitar.
