There is an easy way to measure how popular Pokemon is today. Just look at all the merchandise that is still being produced and sold on a global scale. Most of the buyers are parents who want to keep their kids happy. Let us look at why Pokemon is so popular.
Pikachu is without a doubt one of the biggest reasons why Pokemon is so popular. This small creature is the mascot. He is yellow, has a black tail, and can control lightning. Not only is his appearance cute, he also wins over many hearts of young ones when he speaks.
He always glows with happiness and is almost never angry, but his evolved form, Raichu, is the complete opposite. Raichu is a bad boy and much tougher than Pikachu.
The second reason why Pokemon is so popular is because of the cartoon. This propelled Pokemon from a nation known into a worldwide famous franchise. The cartoon is about a main character named Ash Ketchum who has Pikachu as his first pokemon.
Ash gets into trouble and goes on many adventures throughout the cartoon. Luckily his journey is not boring as he has two friends with him to catch more Pokemon. Training the Pokemon and communicating with them is a big part of the cartoon.
The third reason that Pokemon is so popular is that the owning company started to make different products to win over new fans and keep existing ones happy. All the different products made Pokemon well known on a global scale. Some of these products are video games, playing cards, and toys.
With all these different products coming out simotaniously, it might look like Nintendo is milking the franchise. But there is a demand for the product and they have to keep up with that demand.
There has been quite a controversy about the video games that come out. Because most of them are basically the same. The only difference is the certain Pokemon you start with and unique ones you are able to get while journeying throughout the game.
Do not let this confuse you and just get one that seems to be the best. Most people will not care about the slight differences as they will never be able to get those unique Pokemon anyway.
