So you just bought this brand new $400 PS3 and now you’re having problems. It never fails for a piece of hardware to go bad. You’re out of luck contacting Sony. If you’re out of warranty they want $150. Follow this how to repair ps3 if you come across some problems.
Step one
That red light means the it is overheating. First, try to turn it off. Leave it off for an hour if possible. Then turn it back on. This should work if caught early.
Step two
Be careful as not to damage anything but try and take out the hard drive. Leave it out for at least an hour. This will let it cool down. Alright now that it’s been an hour go ahead and place the hard drive back in its place.
Step three
The laser is very hard to get to and needs to be handled with care. There are some screws that need to be removed before getting to it. The laser will be visible it’s pertinent that you do not touch it. Use a Q-tip that has alcohol on it to clean it. Rub it down gently. This should fix that issue.
Step four
Here is a big one. The ps3 doesn’t turn on at all. Well at first glance it would be the power supply. Just replace it. But if you heard a loud pop and it shut off it could be a fuse. Take the fuse out of the power and bring it to a store. They will be able to find the one you’re looking for and just replace it in the supply.
Your PS3 should be working.
Take care of your console with your heart. You do not want to have to shell out more money to replace any parts. Remember always know what your doing before you do it. Repair ps3 may be easier and less time consuming rather then going through Sony.
