Is Your Employer Taking Your Safety Seriously?
An employer is an owner who has a business, and employs different people on hourly, weekly, or monthly salary. The salary is based on the work the employee offers to the employer. In a company, the employer recruits people on different positions. There are all kinds of jobs from peon to manager, and from directors to CEOs. As, a salaried person no matter on what position you work in a company, the employer is bound to abide by set of legal obligations. The most important obligation is to provide health and safety to the employees at the workplace. Therefore, it is always wise to check with the employer if his company is vigilant about safety issues of the employees.
As, the employers established the structure of a functioning place to greet the employees to supply their proficiency, well-built infrastructure, and superiority of the equipment, in case of a business, is the accountability of an employer. When a fresh individual is hired, the safekeeping of an employee, while being at work, has to be the primary precedence of the employer.
Woking in an office may not be as unsafe as in a mill, or in the industrial unit, where you require dealing with the heavy machines. A small error can be life intimidating. There are numerous hazards that you can come across in your job.
In all parts of life, we have to follow certain laws, and in the same way as an employee, certain laws are made for our safety. As an employee, security at the workplace is your right, and you can talk with the employer if you are not provided with necessary security equipment, or facilities at the workplace.
The employer should take care of all the factors that pose risk to health like the condition of the equipment, the temperature, chemicals, controlled exposure to the substance. If due to one or the other reason, any accident happens, you must be provided with the facility of first aid.
Your primary right is the stipulation of any protecting, or security instrument liberated of cost. This security equipment should be of such superiority that is obligatory for your safety measures. Similar to those who work in the glass production factories should be provided with the exceptional heat resistant gloves, and costumes, so that the elevated temperature, and heat up of the kiln might not hurt the employees. Secondly, when you go to the employer with a safety measures related trouble, the apprehension of the employer shows his/her seriousness towards your shelter. If he/she does not pay attention to the concerns, then you can at all times, get in contact with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
An employee should be given the same respect and importance, as the employer likes for him/herself. The employer is responsible to give the employee regular breaks in work. In addition, the employees should be provided hygienic food, and water. Any worker, who works to build tall buildings, should be warned with alarming signs.
If the site of the factory is unsafe for the employees, similar to if there are chances of falling from the height, the employers should build some boundary walls, or obtain other measures against it. At least, caution signs should be displayed to alarm the employees about the hazard.
It is always wise to check the workplace before you sign a contract with the employer. You always have right to talk to the employer if you find the environment unsuitable for you.
