The Guide To Mafia Wars Rackets
The future of the game is to use Mafia Wars rackets as a substitute for properties. Players who are new to the game will get the rackets feature while “old” players will still have access to the properties feature. An incentive of some sort will ultimately be given to players under the old system in order to move everyone into the rackets system. The new system is not meeting with much enthusiasm, especially from players who have played under the properties system. There is also some complaints about how Zynga delivered the new system.
How do you use the new Mafia Wars rackets system? Under the new system you can no longer buy properties and let the cash roll in, instead you have to return to the rackets at timed intervals and collect on them.
Each racket has a specific time connected to it that lets you know how long it will take to “shake down” the racket, as soon as the time has elapsed you have to return to collect. The payout from the shake down can be lost if you do not return to collect it. Although you are told how long the racket will need to shake down, you are not notified how long you have to return and collect. The instructions in the game only say that you lose the profit “if you don’t return promptly”.
Influence is needed in order to shake down a racket. You receive no reload on influence when you level up, but you receive one point regenerated per hour.
You will find rackets under the rackets tab and a number of other tabs breaking down the specific racket types. Cash, attack, defense and job rackets make up the different types. You will get the listed cash or boost when you shake down each racket.
The influence that you used to shake down a racket is also returned to you along with the cash or boost. You can only get back influence to a maximum of 125% of your total level. The influence you used can be lost if you are too slow at returning to collect. Along with your influence you will lose any take and other benefits of the shake down if you do not return promptly.
You can repeat rackets to master them. Additional rackets are made available to you when you master a racket. Although rackets pay out very little initially, as you master them the payout increases.
The payout from the rackets does increase quite a bit as you master each level, it may not seem as good as the property version but it is not that bad as soon as you get into it.
