Many death knight tanks prefer Frost Presence for tanking and it increases your armor my 60%, your health by 10% and it increases the threat that you generate by 45%. This may be your most important contribution to tanking in a large group. This can also free you from needing to hold a shield, and you will be freed up for two handed weapons.

Even though Death and Decay generates a large threat on your part, it costs a lot. If you’re handling 4 mobs or more, you can use it; otherwise, cast the others.

In this article I am going to show you how to play hammer o’s and pull off’s.

If you recall in the last mini guitar lesson I showed you how to move the pentatonic pattern 1 round the neck. In this article we will expand on that to bring a technique called the “hammer on”.

For example let’s take pattern 1 at the 5th fret (Am).

OK, to play the “hammer on” you need to hold down the 6th string at the 5th fret and then pluck it. Then bring down your 4th finger hard onto the 8th fret with enough force to allow the string to ring out as though you had plucked it!

In order to master thus technique you need to practice. Practice playing the hammer on on all the strings in the scale pattern… This is known as “hammering on”!!!

You now need to build up your speed and over time you will find that you will be able to play the “hammer on” effortlessly playing notes quickly without having to pluck each string individually. Practicing this technique will speed up your overall paying ability…

All great guitarists have practiced. Try to pick up your guitar EVERY day even if just for a few short minutes, it’s better than not playing at all and eventually you will find your fingers become on autopilot without you realising…

To add to the “hammer on” we will now have a go at a technique called the “pull off” and is the next killer technique you must try to master on your road to becoming a great player!

So to start off we will use pattern one at the 5th fret (Am). Now hold down the 8th fret with your 4th finger and also the 5th fret with your first finger on the 6th string.

Now pick the string sounding the note at the 8th fret (C)

Now here’s the clever bit : whilst the note is still ringing flick the string with your 4th finger (pull off) to sound the note at the 5th fret (A). Do not use your pick at all!

Do this on all the strings up and down pattern 1

Using “hammer on’s” and “pull off”s” is a much used feature in great sounding solos.

Practice until your fingers bleed! Only joking!!!!

Playing outside in the summer months is also very beneficial. Instead of playing in a stuffy old house all day you get the pleasure of being outdoors in the fresh air. For those days where being in the hot sun is just too much, you can try to find a nice shade tree to play under.

Setting up the table on a flat surface outdoors is absolutely essential and it is preferable if it is a concrete surface. Although enjoying a game on a grass surface is something that sounds very nice, setting up a table on a grass surface could very well disrupt the game as chances are the surface of the table would not be flat.
