Speakers for $400 or less to Enhance your Home Theater
There’s the old saying, “you get what you pay for” and many would insist that going cheap on speakers for your home theater will end up with a disappointing result. However, after doing my research I’ve come across several surround-sound speakers priced below $400 that will completely surprise you. If you’re looking to add a sound system to enhance your favorite TV shows and you’re on a budget, I have a solution for you.
This guide will share one of the best options I’ve recently seen available for under $400. I’ll also discuss some options for you down the road as you look to expand on your surround sound system.
The system that I was most surprised by is the Fluance AVHTB+. This speaker system can be purchased for approximately $200. What’s unique about these speakers and makes it so cost effective is that they don’t rely on a sub-woofer to deliver the deep tones of the bass. These speakers are large which allowed them to include the delivery of the low frequency sounds in the front-channel speakers.
I was definitely surprised when I found these full-range speakers, especially considering the moderate price tag. It’s safe to say that these speakers perform at a higher level than the price tag on them.
These speakers, the Fluance AVHTB+ two front channel speakers are different than what you typically see in a home theater these days. They remind me of the speakers back in the day, when speakers delivered all frequencies from the same speaker. They’re also large like they were then as well, standing at 33 inches and 27lbs each.
If you’re looking to improve upon these speakers, it can easily be done with the addition of a sub-woofer. It’s not necessary to add the sub-woofer, unless you’re really into the deep bass sound. The only reason it maybe a necessity is if the room is on the larger side, usually larger than 250 sq ft.
The Fluance AVHTB+ can continue to grow beyond the addition of the sub-woofer. You can do this over-time as many people to for their home theaters and add rear-channel speakers for an additional $100 each. Now you’ll have a six or seven channel speaker system.
There are many different options available in this price range, but from personal experience I know you’ll be satisfied with this system. If you’re in the market for new speakers, be sure to shop around online and always go to the store to test the speakers out. Hope you enjoy your new system!
