1. Be confident with your manoeuvres. If you are reasonably confident that you can carry out the manoeuvres effectively enough to gain a pass in this area it will leave your mind free to concentrate on your driving.

2. Procedures. Using the MSM (Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre) routine is important, although I prefer the extended version of MSPSL (Mirrors, Signal, Position, Speed, Look) routine, as this acts as a check list during the test and also gives you something to concentrate on if you feel nervous.

3. Observation and Planning. This is one of the most important aspects to be in control of. By looking and scanning as far ahead as you can for road signs, potential or developing hazards and road markings you are free to apply the MSPSL routine as appropriate for the situation. You should be recognising and dealing with hazards as early as possible.

4. Awareness and Anticipation. One of the hardest skills to learn for pupils. Being able to anticipate other road user actions will keep you out of dangerous situations and increase your chances of passing. Watch the way cars wheels turn at roundabouts to see if they are exiting and look into the side mirrors of buses whilst overtaking at bus stops (if conditions dictate) to see if the driver is thinking of moving off or still dealing with passengers.

5. Knowledge of the Highway Code. Obviously a good knowledge of the Highway Code is essential as the examiner wants to see you obey road signs and road markings. Common faults here are not noticing signs, not using bus lanes properly and not returning to the left hand lane where appropriate. 6. Dealing with nerves. There are many weird and wonderful techniques for dealing with nerves. Practise until you feel reasonably confident that you would be able to drive almost anywhere on your own. I was amused to find out that about 1 in every three individuals write out the word German Shepherd incorrectly, calling them German Shepards instead. I am surprised that this breed of dog is so commonly misspelled, & I’m even more amazed to realized that I spelled it like this for so many of my life.

I hate spelling words mistakenly and I always attempt to avoid it. I am always careful to make sure that I’m on point with my spelling, although like just about any person, sometimes I simply mess up. The great news is that I have an effortless way to remember how to properly spell this breed of dog the right way.

Follow my simple procedure here & you will always recall that it’s not German Shepards, but shepherds.

Remember back to why this kind of dog was bred and perhaps you will already figure this out. The German Shepherd was bred as a labor canine, & it was just at the turn of the century that this dog came to life.

People in Germany wanted a dog to help herd sheep. Think of the words herd & sheep this time, & then reverse them. You do not think of the German Shepards (I am kidding) now as sheep herding dogs, as they are ordinarily used by law enforcement to fight crime, in airports to find drugs, & in other places that depend on the dog’s good olfactory senses.

This, though, is why they happened to be bred, & remembering this will make it much easier to spell the word accurately.

As long as you seek to keep this in mind every time you write or type out the word, I suppose you certainly will get it right from here. Do not feel too badly regarding it because one in three people do spell it wrong.

When I’m speaking of her best five ever, I don’t mean that she’s at the end of her career. By no means is she near the end, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Alicia Keys churning out hits for another 20 years.

4. My Boo – So this song was not technically hers, as it appeared on Usher’s “Confessions.” She did however sing half of the song so she should be have this as part of her resume. The chemistry the two had in the song made this one a favorite among couples.

5. Number five on our all-time Alicia Keys list is a heartfelt song that might be her best lyrical work to date. Superwoman is a song that chronicles the challenges that so many women face in so many nations.
