Showing Off With Tattoo Modeling
The displaying of a tattoo either by a photograph or by a person with the tattoo is a work of art from the viewpoint of the creator and possibly the person who has it inked on their skin. While there has been an increase of the population either having a body tattoo or at least accepting that they have become a norm in our society, the modeling of tattoos is still not totally accepted. A model who has a good career in modeling clothing or modeling for advertising products usually have their tattoos covered by clothing or make-up. While some well known models do have pictures of themselves in advertising with small tattoos showing, it still isn’t viewed as totally acceptable. A new forum for displaying models showing off their personal tattoos has been created.
Most places of business where tattoos are done will have a picture book available to look at. It is very helpful to actually see a design modeled by a person so that it can be viewed on a body rather than just a picture in a book or online. With the increase in people obtaining a body tattoo, it is helpful to see one modeled first. Models who have tattoos can display them in advertisements for magazines if they aren’t huge or take away from the product being sold. Photographers can use their skills to enhance the tattoo with the clothing in such a way that either it isn’t noticed at all or in the case of an ankle, it can appear to be jewelry.
If you can provide a picture of a tattoo for a photographer, then that is one way to model. People with a number of tattoos over their body, especially large and colorful ones, will have a hard time obtaining modeling gigs. It is just too much work to hide them in most cases, and many standard modeling jobs for those starting out in the business are for department store clothing, and these companies often want to present a clean image to their customers. Tattoos are still seen as somewhat of a stigmata and removing them would be the only way to get this kind of work with these companies.
For those who wish to model and have no photographer to take pictures of the inking they have had done, there is the option of modeling in contests. There are now different events set up where individuals with tattoos all over their bodies can model the designs and the winner receives a prize. These contests can be at a convention or can be a standalone event. Either way, they offer those who wish to model a chance to do so.
A tattoo picture can be a beautiful thing, if done correctly. If you have numerous designs over your body and you wish to display the work, you do have a few options. There are lots of artists who do amazing work and would like to display what they have created, so there are opportunities to earn money as a model. That being said, there is not a great deal of demand for this type of work so making a good living as a tattoo model is unlikely.
