Any time you hear the expression “Home Video” what exactly is the first thing that comes to mind? For most people, it’s the term “DVD” or “DVD Video.” That will actually demonstrate how deeply rooted the DVD is now in our lives as well as in our culture. It is really difficult to recall when we watched videos on VHS tape, however it wasn’t that long ago. Actually, as time moves on the DVD itself is becoming outdated and one day very soon you will consider it just as much as a distant memory as you consider the VHS tape a far gone distant memory.

The past video format that DVD superceded was known as the VHS video tape. It had survived it’s own kind of “Format Warfare” against the Betamax video tape and won. Home video would follow that trend, and it is the DVD that enabled the leap to really occur. The DVD was able to playing back higher quality audio and video and was a necessary advancement over the VHS. The HD televisions which were being released made this improvement in quality nearly a demand and really forced the hand of media manufacturers to obtain new and improved ways to deliver top quality material.

Fortunately the research had already began in the search for a new digital media format that would be able to store enough information to display true high definition digital content in terms of both audio and video playback. That eventually led to the development of the Toshiba backed HD DVD. The HD DVD offered full 1080p video playback ability along with 6.1 channel surround sound. It had a full set of features that no DVD might even imagine touching and was truly the gold standard for home video.

While Toshiba had been able to enjoy enough early success, the BluRay was nearing the market and the possible future of the HD DVD was in question. While the HD DVD was a serious leap forward over the DVD, the BluRay was not as significant to the evolution of home video however it did offer even more space than the HD DVD. The biggest advantage was it’s parent. Sony had established itself in the film industry as a significant player and so it’s home videos were in high demand. However, having control of it’s movies, they weren’t launched on HD DVD but BluRay instead and in the process Sony had caused some home theater lovers to simply accept the BluRay format as the media choice above others.

In the end the BluRay won the format war with the HD DVD being dropped by Toshiba in 2008. To this day the BluRay remains the one major video format that’s the current hot trend everywhere across the planet. However, few of us will forget the HD DVD, and the journey home video has made in the past 10 years from DVD to now BluRay.

You can begin decorating pottery in three easy ways. Each one of these methods offers its own aesthetic merits. One method is not better than another, so whichever method you choose will be a good choice.

You can use easy-to-apply decals. These are colored patterns in every conceivable design from apples to zebras and everything else in between. You can usually buy them from ceramic stores and sites although many people have been known to create decals of their own for a more personalized touch. For example, you can take a romantic picture of the soon-to-be-wedded couple, make decals out of it and then incorporate them into the mugs as wedding favors.

After the decals are applied to the surface, the mugs must be fired in a kiln at 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat will make the decals’ pale colors become vivid, and the rich assortment of colors will make your mugs come alive.

Oxides are another easy way to decorate pottery. Their colorants are potent, so you only need a small amount to add bright slashes, swirls and other areas of color to your pottery. Limit the oxide in your solution to about two to eight percent. You’ll get black as the end result if you include more than that. For safety reasons, always wear a respirator or mask when you’re dealing with dry oxides.

There are many ways with which the oxides can be applied. Brush the oxide over bisque, glaze and green ware. Brush on two oxides in an overlapping technique. Brush the oxide, wait until it is dry and then scratch with a sharp tool. Basically, you can just experiment with the material to achieve different effects.

Sea shells provide another way to decorate pottery. This easy decorative technique might make you think about your roots as a potter, because many ancient pottery shards are imprinted with sea creatures.

It’s simple to do. Just embed sea shells into your pottery before putting it into the kiln for firing. When it comes out of the kiln, you’ll have a unique item that can be used as the centerpiece for a beach-themed wedding or be given as a gift.

There is a new hip hop producer that is surely commencing to tear up the Phoenix hip hop scene like no one before. His hip hop producer alias is AKT Aktion. Arizona has never witnessed such a concoction of talent, charisma, personality or production quality ever before. A transplant from Cleveland Aktion brings a mid west swag mixed with some southwest flavor.

Although he was not born and raised in Phoenix or it’s hip hop scene, he still tells us that he plans to rep the southwest city non stop. He did state that he is planning to continue dealing with many Cleveland and mid-west artists, but his vision is to help make Phoenix the next hip-hop hotbed for hip hop and rap music.

With this new song Aktion makes a very important link with Phoenix and ATL by putting D-Roc of the Ying-Yang Twins and K-Dolla from Atlanta on a track with 2 of Phoenix’s most popular artists MAV and Kid Cardinal. The single they call “The Boogie” is absolutely a hit, undoubtedly a club banger, and clearly one that the strip clubs and Djs will enjoy.

The drums and percussion in this song bang so hard and the sounds are razor-sharp and edgy. Aktion seriously fills in a gap for Phoenix hip hop by finally possibly giving AZ a super producer. The kind of producer that will help your records sell, which is clear by the 50,000 plus fans and friends he has on Myspace, and the volume of radio and club play he is provided with across the country.

Though AKT Aktion has not hit the billboard charts as of yet, most DJs and MCs will let you know that it is not far off.
