Nitric oxide contains a nitrogen molecule that is triple bonded to an oxygen molecule. It is a gas and is very important for signaling within humans and mammals. Nitric oxide is not used for many things though it is produced in large quantities in order to synthesis nitric acid. It is used frequently in the semiconductor industry and is also used to for poxynitride gates which are used in integrated circuits.

This compound is found throughout the body as it is a biological messenger in humans and mammals. It is also known as EDRF or endothelium derived relaxing factor as it is released by the lining of the blood vessel and this causes the surrounding muscles to relax. This in turn can cause the blood flow to increase. NO also can freely diffuse across any cell membrane.
There are some dangers to having too much nitric oxide in the body as it can cause DNA to degrade as well as other damage as it can be released by the immune system
