Making The Entire Household Happy And Comfortable With Game Rooms To Remember
The game room has taken on a wide variety of roles in the life of our homes. Games rooms have come to be central places where all of the enjoyable things of family life can take place. Mom can use the game room as a place to hold social gatherings with her friends, dad can have his buddies over to watch the big game or host the weekly poker game, and the kids have a place to meet with their pals and enjoy the latest movies, TV, music and more. The games room is a great place for everyone in the family to get together and enjoy what they love the most. The key is building a game room that is functional, comfortable and most importantly building game rooms to remember.
The first thing that you need to look at when putting together your game room is the space itself and what that space will be used for. Do you have teens, you will want to make sure that you have a lot of space for people to gather and be comfortable for extended periods of time. For the man of the house you will want to make sure that you have a space that is large, well ventilated and set apart from the rest of the house. For mom the space should be close to the kitchen, bright and airy as well as large enough to handle a group such as reading or sewing clubs or church social circles.
You will need to establish the needs of the room and its variety of users before you can begin to actually plan out the room. Let’s take a look at what the needs of Dad are in the game room. He will more than likely be using the room to get together with his friends to host the weekly poker game or to watch his favorite sport. In this case you will need to ensure that a large television is present and properly positioned as well as providing lots of seating. If you have a bar in the room great if not the make sure you keep in mind that you will need to provide a place to but a beer tub when the guys are over. You will also need some place to lay out the food. Furniture should be stain proof and the floor is best as hardwood or easy to clean tile. Guys can get a little raucous and raunchy at times so keep in mind the need to separate them from the rest of the house both for their privacy and yours.
Teens will have slightly different needs from the game room. While the big TV is a must have here as well they also will be interested in the sound system. Dad doesn’t need a high quality audio set for his football games, but the kids will want one when they are watching the latest movies and listening to music with their friends. Again you need a lot of comfortable seating but also make sure there is an abundance of floor space as not matter how good the furniture is, kids inevitably end up in the floor. Here again you will need to have a way to separate the game room from the rest of the house. Unlike with the men who are being provided privacy and seclusion for their personal space, you will want to keep the kids at a distance due to their loud nature and large numbers.
For mom the game room will need to have lots of seating that is comfortable and functional. As with the men there should be a place to set up a small card table for coffee and bridge, a place to lay out a small spread of foods for friends who drop by for the afternoon or for the book club meetings and again a privacy consideration for those times when women want to be alone with each other to share, talk, cry laugh and pray.
The key to building game rooms to remember is to make sure that everyone in the family is comfortable and happy. The room should be versatile enough to fit their needs individually and also be enjoyable when the family gathers together as a whole. Have fun with your new game room and enjoy your time together.
