How should you plan a stag or hen night?
This is the big one, the one you have been dreaming of, planning and anticipating its arrival; the day when those you love come together to celebrate the happiness you have with another person; yes it’s the stag or hen party and it’s going to be huge. Unlike the wedding there are no limitations and Stag Night Costumes and hen night costumes can be as elaborate or cutting-edge as you choose.
Whilst going out and drinking with friend is a fairly normal Friday night activity; the stag or hen party is something apart, a real landmark in the friend calendar. These events have been snowballing in recent years and what was once just a drink with friends is now a huge event that can take an amount of organisation akin to the wedding itself. The evening is no longer just an evening and the night before not necessarily that, but instead it has developed into weekends with a good period of recovery time before the actual wedding.
The onus of organising this event generally falls to the chief bridesmaid or best man, thereby placing huge pressure on one individual to organise an evening or weekend to remember. And, from the wide range of styles there are a lot of decisions to make. From a venue, a country and a bar, to a dress code and a style, there are a hug number of decisions to make. There is also the level of pressure anyone would feel in organising an event your friend and their friends will enjoy.
No one wants theirs to be the hen or stag party that crashed and burned and, with enough planning, this won’t be an issue. Why not think outside the box? Yes you will need alcohol to get dunk, food to get sober and some means of marking the bride or groom (a silly veil or t-shirt); but the rest is fairly open to the best person’s discretion.
It could be an idea to set a theme for the main evening, this will not only make for the relaxed atmosphere we all assume when in costume, but also put pressure on others to come up with interesting ideas. Stag night costumes could range from simply dressing as a schoolgirl, to dressing as a bandit, cowboy or pirate; they can be elaborate and sophisticated or silly and childish, inviting everyone to show their wild side.
Hen Night Costumes can likewise range from the most sophisticated to the most silly, either setting a theme that involves the bride as the centre of the action, as a queen or slave, or by simply choosing a style that allows you all to be identified quickly in the club as all those wearing alien headbands. It is the right of the organiser to choose the style and theme of the evening, so this is a real chance to make your mark.
Some stag and hen parties start in the morning, run through the day and end with the evening event, so you may even need more than one change of outfits. After all those stag night costumes just might not do for breakfast in the B&B but a set of matching t-shirts or sports gear may do the trick. That way you can save the effect of the evening costume too, waiting until the right moment to make your big entrance into the room.
Whatever the outfits this is sure to be a big day, one you will remember and look back on and maybe show your children pictures of, when they have grown up. Having sorted the hen or stag weekend the organiser can sit back safe in the knowledge that their part in the organising is over and there is only the wedding to go. And after all, that can’t be anything like the organisation required to plan a good hen or stag weekend.
