Clash of the Candy Titans: Skullcandy Hesh vs. Skullcrusher
If you’re in the market for some Skullcandy earphones or phones, then you have potentially come across the Hesh and Skullcrusher lines. The Skullcandy Hesh and Skullcrusher are both over the head headphones designed to look and sound nice. While they are cousins from the same brand, they have got differences and those variations in features will help you decide which one suits you better.
The Similarities
Obviously, the similarities between the Skullcandy Hesh and Skullcrusher don’t end with the same brand. Both have the same Neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) magnets in the power drivers, with a frequency range of 20 to 20,000 Hz, and impedance of 32 ohms. Both also have 3.5 mm gold plated plugs and 1.2 m cables. The Skullcandy Hesh and Skullcrusher phones also have their headbands and earphones covered with the same soft leather padding for comfortable use. Though these are engineered to make your music listening as comfortable as practical your ears will get hot if you use them for extended periods.
Also, these Skullcandy lines come in a wide variety of designs and colors so that you can definitely find something that is a match for your tastes. Aside from the nice looks and decent sound quality, these two are also pretty cost-effective at under US$ 50, though the Skullcandy Hesh headphones are slightly less expensive.
The Differences
Let’s commence with the Skull candy Hesh phones. They feature 50 mm power drivers, in line volume control, and a maximum input power of 100 mW. The Hesh line is designed more with loud sound output in consideration. The Skullcrusher, on the other hand, takes listening to music to a whole different level with mini-subwoofers powered by an AA battery. It features smaller 30 mm power drivers, an in line bass level adjuster, and can handle a maximum input power of 120 mW. It cancels background noise rather well, can be folded so that you can easily keep it when not in use, and comes with a 6.3 mm plug adapter and an Airline adapter.
At the end, the final choice between the 2 depends on your preferences and wants. If you simply need a reasonable pair of earphones, then you can opt for the a touch less expensive Skullcandy Hesh. If you on the other hand are short of some serious bass though, then go for the Skullcrushers.
